NET NINE NINE LAYING DOWN THE FOUNDATION! THOUSANDS GATHER TO COMMEMORATE YOUTH DAY!

WESTERN CAPE IS CALLING NET99 READY TO ANSWER THE CALL!

Should we be overwhelmed, shocked or astonished?

No, we are excited and over the moon about the latest development in our midst.

Today, the Western Cape is knocking on our door. Tomorrow, Africa may will be calling.

And if history is anything to go by, Net Nine Nine will answer. For years, Net Nine Nine has quietly and confidently rewritten the story of internet connectivity in South Africa’s townships, villages and overlooked communities.

Today, the conversation has shifted westward.

The people of the Western Cape are calling our name, and we are listening.

At Net Nine Nine, we do not see ourselves merely as another telecommunications company competing for market share. We are a movement for digital inclusion, a force determined to ensure that every South African, regardless of where they live, has access to world-class internet services.

Our footprint already stretches across eight provinces. From bustling townships in Gauteng to rural communities in KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, the North West, the Free State and beyond, our fibre-optic cables have become symbols of opportunity, education, entrepreneurship and hope.

The only province yet to experience the Net Nine Nine

revolution is the Western Cape. That is about to change. If residents, businesses and communities in the Western Cape are actively seeking Net Nine Nine, it tells us one thing – they want something better, and we have it.

They are yearning for an internet service provider that understands ordinary people, speaks their language and places community development at the centre of its business model.

Net Nine Nine has never been interested in simply selling bandwidth, but is passionate about transforming lives.

It is embedded in our DNA to bridge the digital divide that has separated many communities from opportunities available in the modern world.

We believe that access to affordable, reliable and high-speed internet is no longer a luxury – it is a necessity.

And, if we may be forgiven for saying so, Net Nine Nine has proven time and again that it belongs among the very best in the telecommunications space.

Our growth has not been fuelled by flashy marketing campaigns or empty promises, but has been driven by satisfied customers, community partnerships and a relentless commitment to delivering value where others hesitated to invest.

The Western Cape deserves that same experience.

We are excited by the prospect of rolling out our fibre-optic network in South Africa’s ninth province and responding to the people’s call.

We want to introduce a different approach to connectivity, one that places people before profits, builds relationships before contracts and creates opportunities before barriers. For Net Nine Nine, the Western Cape is not the final destination but another stepping stone in a much bigger vision.

Once all nine provinces are connected, our sights will naturally turn beyond South Africa’s borders.

Africa is a continent bursting with potential, and we believe Net Nine Nine has the expertise, the passion and the communitycentred philosophy to make a meaningful contribution across the continent.

Dr Nicholas Thipe

WHILE SOME HEROES WEAR CAPES, PRUDENCE CARRIES HER LAPTOP!

From a distance, one would easily assume that her work laptop rests within arm’s reach of her bed.

Believe it or not, she is seemingly always available, giving the impression that she is logged in 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and this is due to her commitment to the craft.

This is how a daughter of Soweto became the heartbeat of Net Nine Nine’s customer Network operations.

Long after the lights of Protea Glen have dimmed and most households have surrendered to sleep, Prudence Molefe remains alert to the familiar chime of an incoming message – beep!

A customer somewhere has lost connectivity, or a contractor needs her assistance or requires confirmation. Another complaint has surfaced on a WhatsApp group. Within moments, a response arrives.

For many employees, work ends when they walk out of the office doors at 17h00 on weekdays.

But for Prudence, work follows her home, occupies a corner of her bedroom and often steals a few precious hours of rest.

It is not unusual for colleagues to joke that she has forgotten about her own life in pursuit of serving others, while others assume she is permanently attached to her laptop.

She has indicated on many occasions to this writer that her family members occasionally remind her that the world can survive a few hours without her.

But Prudence has made peace with the demands of her profession.

“I focus on consistency, accountability, communication and delivering results. I draw inspiration from my desire to continuously improve, support my team and make a positive impact on the business and our customers,” she said.

Raised in Meadowlands, Soweto, Prudence grew up in a close-knit community where perseverance was not merely encouraged but expected.

“I was raised in a community that taught me the importance of hard work, respect and perseverance,” she explains. Education, discipline and strong community values shaped

her outlook from an early age. During her school years, she discovered an interest in technology, customer service and solving problems, an interest that would eventually chart the course of her career.

Before finding her footing in telecommunications, Prudence worked in the travel industry before crossing over into telecoms from one of South Africa’s major competitors, carrying with her a wealth of experience in operations, customer relations and project coordination.

Six years ago, she joined Net Nine Nine with a simple ambition – to grow professionally and contribute meaningfully to a company on the rise, already expanded across eight provinces.

Today, she serves as a Network Operations Centre Agent Supervisor, a role that places her at the centre of a complex ecosystem responsible for keeping thousands of homes and businesses connected.

Her responsibilities extend far beyond answering calls or responding to complaints.

Prudence coordinates fibre installations, oversees project timelines, engages with contractors and service providers, arranges maintenance schedules and cutovers, communicates with stakeholders and ensures that projects are completed efficiently.

SHE SERVES NET99 CLIENTS AND CONTRACTORS DELIGENTLY!

On any given day, she monitors project progress, troubleshoots operational setbacks, coordinates teams and provides updates to clients and management.

The demands can be overwhelming.

Yet those who work with her describe someone who rarely allows pressure to diminish her professionalism, as customers have become accustomed to receiving replies almost immediately, regardless of the hour.

Support, she believes, is the backbone of the business.

“Support is one of the most critical functions within the business because it serves as the bridge between customers, technical teams and operations.

“Working across departments allows us to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently and that communication remains clear. Every department plays an important role, from network operations and field technicians to project coordinators and customer support teams. By working together, we are able to deliver reliable services and maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction.”

Her commitment has not gone unnoticed.

Prudence is among a select group of employees consistently recognised for their exceptional work ethic and dedication to customer satisfaction.

For her, such recognition is humbling.

“It is truly an honour and very rewarding to be recognised. It motivates me to continue giving my best and contributing positively to the company’s goals. I am grateful to work alongside talented colleagues who inspire me every day.”

Behind the accolades lies a professional journey marked by constant learning.

“My experience has been both challenging and rewarding,” she reflects.

4

“I have learned a great deal about the telecommunications industry, project coordination, customer relations and teamwork. The company has provided opportunities for growth and development, which I greatly appreciate.”

Prudence remains committed to furthering her education and expanding her expertise in telecommunications and project management.

She speaks warmly about the role leadership has played in her career progression.

“My manager has played a significant role by providing guidance, support and opportunities that have helped me grow professionally,” she indicated.

She believes the future belongs to those willing to learn, adapt and support others.

Her advice to colleagues is straightforward but powerful – remain committed, support one another and always strive for excellence.

“Success comes from teamwork and a willingness to learn,” she says.

And what should Net Nine Nine expect from one of its most dependable employees?

“Continued dedication, leadership, innovation and a commitment to delivering excellent results. I look forward to taking on greater responsibilities and contributing even more to the company’s success,” she says with confidence. Some heroes wear capes.

Others simply keep a laptop close to their bedside and answer messages while the rest of the world sleeps.

HOW INTERNET CHANGES

HEALTH CARE - A LIFELINE WE RARELY TALK ABOUT!

Telecommunications companies such as Net Nine Nine, which continue to expand affordable fibre services across South Africa’s cities and township communities, are contributing to a future where access to specialised healthcare is no longer determined solely by geography.

However, the impact of affordable broadband extends beyond clinic walls.

Strong internet connections help strengthen families, especially in a country where employment opportunities often separate loved ones.

Parents working in distant provinces can maintain close relationships with their children through regular video calls, while grandparents living abroad can watch birthdays, graduations and family celebrations unfold in real time.

Families can also access government services online, renew licences, apply for identity documents and engage with public institutions without spending hours standing in queues.

Learners benefit from educational platforms, while entrepreneurs are able to run businesses and access new markets.

When discussions about fibre internet arise, the conversation often gravitates towards faster movie streaming, uninterrupted gaming sessions, remote work opportunities and online education. However, the elephant in the room remains healthcare, a life-changing benefit that is often overlooked.

In a country where access to quality medical services remains uneven, affordable fibre connectivity is emerging as an indispensable tool in strengthening healthcare systems and bringing specialised medical expertise closer to ordinary South Africans.

Through its growing footprint in major cities and surrounding communities across eight provinces, Net Nine Nine, South Africa’s leading closed-access Fibre Network Operator (FNO), is helping provide

the digital infrastructure that supports this transformation.

South Africa’s healthcare landscape is characterised by stark disparities, with large metropolitan hospitals boasting specialists in cardiology, radiology, oncology and other disciplines, while many clinics and community healthcare centres operate with limited resources and staff.

Patients in smaller towns and urban communities often have little choice but to travel considerable distances for specialist consultations, spending money they can scarcely afford and enduring long waiting periods.

Healthcare professionals in urban centres often

HEALTHCARE IN SOUTH AFRICA!

possess specialised knowledge and expertise that may not be readily available in smaller clinics and community health centres.

Through reliable fibre connectivity, doctors and nurses working in clinics can now consult specialists remotely, share diagnostic images, discuss patient cases in real time and receive expert guidance without requiring patients to travel long distances.

A nurse attending to a diabetic patient in a community clinic can instantly seek advice from an endocrinologist based in Johannesburg. A doctor in a municipal health facility can transmit X-rays, CT scans or laboratory reports electronically to a specialist for urgent interpretation.

Expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies can benefit from virtual consultations with obstetricians situated hundreds of kilometres away.

These interactions may only take minutes, but they can significantly influence treatment decisions and, in some cases, save lives.

The use of telemedicine services has become increasingly important in addressing South Africa’s healthcare challenges.

Patients with chronic illnesses such as hypertension, asthma and HIV/AIDS can receive follow-up consultations through secure videoconferencing platforms without having to take a full day off work or incur transportation costs.

For elderly patients and those with mobility difficulties, remote consultations provide convenience and dignity.

Instead of waiting in overcrowded hospital corridors, they can access healthcare professionals from the comfort of their homes or nearby clinics. Electronic health records represent another important advancement made possible through fibre connectivity.

Traditional paper-based systems often result in misplaced files, duplicated tests and administrative delays, but digitised patient records ensure that authorised healthcare workers can access medical histories, prescriptions and test results within seconds, improving efficiency and reducing the risk of medical errors.

The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the value of digital healthcare solutions and accelerated the adoption of telemedicine globally.

While emergency restrictions have eased, many healthcare institutions continue to rely on virtual consultations and digital monitoring systems because of their effectiveness and affordability.

THOUSANDS GATHER TO COMMEMORATE YOUTH DAY!

Thousands of sports enthusiasts flocked to the GaRankuwa View Clinic Grounds between 13 and 16 June 2026, as the sixth edition of the Hollywoodbets Mathews Mpete Cup transformed the venue into a vibrant celebration of youth, unity and sporting excellence.

Held in commemoration of the historic June 16 Uprising, the annual tournament once again demonstrated the power of sport in bringing communities together while providing young people with opportunities to showcase their talent.

The four-day extravaganza featured football, netball, road running and aerobics activities, attracting participants and spectators from across Ga-Rankuwa and neighbouring communities.

Families, former players, local businesses and community leaders turned out in large numbers,

Page 8

creating an electric atmosphere synonymous with township sporting culture.

The tournament has enjoyed sustained backing from Net Nine Nine, which has sponsored the competition since its inception six years ago.

The fibre internet service provider views the tournament as part of its broader commitment to investing in township communities where it has rolled out fibre-optic infrastructure.

Net Nine Nine officials said the overwhelming public response to the event reflects the company’s vision of supporting meaningful community initiatives beyond connectivity, using sport as a vehicle for social cohesion and youth development.

The continued growth of the competition has also been aided by sound planning and adherence to safety standards.

The Mathews Mpete Foundation, through senior manager Siphiwe Manyike, secured a Joint Operations Committee (JOC) certificate from the City of Tshwane, ensuring that all safety, emergency and event management protocols were met.

Event founder Mathews Mpete expressed gratitude to the community, sponsors and stakeholders who have contributed to the tournament’s success.

“What started as a modest initiative aimed at keeping young people engaged during Youth Month has grown into one of the most anticipated sporting festivals in our community,” said Mpete.

“Seeing thousands of people gathering peacefully to honour the legacy of June 16 through sport is truly humbling. We appreciate the unwavering support from Net Nine Nine, Hollywoodbets, our volunteers, clubs and residents who continue to make this tournament bigger and better each year. This event belongs to the people of Ga-Rankuwa, and together we are proving that township sport can be organised professionally and sustainably.”

The tournament’s stature has also attracted recognition from the City of Tshwane.

According to organisers, the city’s endorsement was reaffirmed by MMC for Community and Social Development Services, Councillor Palesa Modise, who acknowledged the positive impact the competition has on youth empowerment and social development.

Modise noted that the municipality recognises the Mathews Mpete Cup as a significant community sporting programme that aligns with the City’s objectives of promoting active lifestyles, social inclusion and opportunities for young people.

With its growing popularity, professional organisation and increasing institutional support, the Hollywoodbets Mathews Mpete Cup appears destined for even greater heights.

As the curtains closed on another successful edition, many attendees were already looking forward to returning in 2027 for what promises to be an even bigger celebration of Youth Month and township sporting excellence.

Rising Stars won the Under-15 men’s division with a 3-2 victory over Kota Sports Academy. Batau FC Ladies then shocked Masakeng Highlanders 2-0 to take home the women’s laurels, while Batau FC’s men’s side walked away with the Under-19 trophy after a 2-0 win over Flying Hawks.

NET99 BRINGS HOPE THROUGH SPORT AND DEVELOPMENT!

A breath of fresh air is sweeping through the dusty streets of Hebron, one of the fastest-growing communities in the North West Province, and for many young people, that fresh air represents renewed hope, opportunity and a brighter future.

Just over a decade ago, youth development and career growth opportunities in the predominantly Setswana-speaking community were almost nonexistent. Despite the area producing graduates from colleges and universities, many found themselves unemployed, discouraged and uncertain about their future prospects.

Today, however, the story is changing.

Through a growing partnership between Net Nine Nine, a closed-access fibre network operator, and the Bakwena ba Mogopa Traditional Authority, a new chapter of community development is unfolding.

The collaboration has not only improved digital connectivity in the area but has also created employment opportunities and sparked meaningful social investment initiatives.

Approximately 50 young people from Hebron have already secured employment through Net Nine Nine as sales agents, while others have found opportunities as office administrators, contractors and technicians responsible for building and maintaining the fibre network infrastructure across the rapidly developing area.

The partnership has also enabled hundreds of residents to gain access to affordable, contractfree unlimited fibre internet packages, helping bridge the digital divide and opening doors to education, entrepreneurship and remote work opportunities. Residents can choose from a range of affordable fibre packages, including:

• Choko Package (20 Mbps Down / 10 Mbps Up) –R379 per month: ideal for streaming and connecting up to five devices.

• Five Tiga 50/50 Mbps – R499 per month: suitable for households with 10 to 15 connected devices.

• Klipa Package (100 Mbps Down / 100 Mbps Up) –R699 per month: designed for heavy internet users, professionals and larger households.

Beyond internet connectivity, Net Nine Nine has demonstrated its commitment to community upliftment through a variety of development programmes.

One of the most impactful initiatives was the Entrepreneurs and Employment Information Day, which brought together business specialists, industry experts and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The event provided valuable guidance on business development, employment opportunities and participation in the growing digital economy.

The objective was simple yet powerful: to equip community members with practical knowledge, inspire innovation and encourage self-sufficiency among local residents, particularly young people.

As part of the initiative, several local small businesses received equipment and resources to help them grow. Two nail technicians received start-up kits, a make-up artist was awarded a complete professional set to launch her business, while a mathematics tutor received a laptop to support her educational work with learners. Additional support was extended to entrepreneurs operating in the fields of computer literacy and beauty services.

Building on this momentum, Net Nine Nine recently turned its attention to sport and youth development by hosting the Under-21 Soccer Tournament and Market Day at Rolling Stars Sports Ground.

The tournament formed part of the company’s ongoing commitment to creating safe recreational spaces while identifying and nurturing young sporting talent. It also served as another example of the strong working relationship between Net Nine Nine and Bakwena ba Mogopa, whose shared vision continues to deliver tangible benefits to the community.

Football enthusiasts were treated to an exciting showcase of local talent as Black FC took on Swenkas FC, while S’Quad FC battled Young Stars in highly competitive fixtures that attracted enthusiastic support from community members.

The event was about much more than football.

Local SMMEs were given an opportunity to market and sell their products to spectators, helping to stimulate economic activity within the community. At the same time, organisers encouraged residents and visitors to donate blankets, clothing, sanitary products and toiletries for vulnerable families, demonstrating the spirit of Ubuntu that continues to define Hebron.

According to event organiser Freddy Piroa, proceeds generated from the tournament and market day will be directed towards supporting the Hebron Skills Development and Information Centre, an institution dedicated to empowering local residents through education, training and skills development programmes.

As Hebron continues to grow, Net Nine Nine proves that meaningful development extends beyond infrastructure. Through investing in connectivity, entrepreneurship, employment and sport, the partners are helping to build a community where young people can dream bigger, participate actively in the economy and create a better future for themselves.

For many residents, the fibre cables running beneath the streets are carrying more than internet connectivity; they are carrying hope.

HEBRON DWELLER!

WEAVING OPPORTUNITY INTO THE FABRIC OF SAKHILE!

In many South African townships, internet connectivity has long been viewed as a luxury rather than a necessity. However, in an increasingly digital world, access to affordable and reliable broadband has become as essential as electricity and water, enabling education, entrepreneurship, employment and social inclusion.

For residents of Sakhile, a township on the western edge of Standerton in Mpumalanga, this digital transformation took another important step forward on 5 June 2026 when Net Nine Nine officially opened its new fibre store in the community.

More than just a customer service centre, the store represents an investment in people, relationships and local economic development.

Situated on a busy street corner at 3352 Hlongwane Street, the facility serves more than 2 000 households that have embraced fibre connectivity as a gateway to new opportunities.

It also provides residents with a physical space where they can receive personalised assistance, resolve technical queries, subscribe to internet packages and engage directly with representatives of the company.

For a township with a complex history, the opening of the fibre store carries symbolic significance.

Located within the Lekwa Local Municipality, whose offices are just a stone’s throw away from the new store, Sakhile was established during the years of segregation, and residents of the township have traditionally made their living through the industrial and agricultural sectors of Standerton.

Decades later, the township remains deeply rooted in South Africa’s struggle for equality and local development.

Like many communities across the country, Sakhile continues to grapple with high levels of unemployment, limited economic opportunities and persistent service delivery challenges.

Against this backdrop, access to affordable internet has emerged as a powerful catalyst for social and economic change.

Recognising that connectivity alone is not enough, Net Nine Nine has adopted a community-centred approach aimed at embedding itself within the areas it serves.

“The opening of our fibre store is about much more than offering internet services,” explains Zoleka Mashiane, Events Coordinator at Net Nine Nine.

“These store launches are not only about offering personalised services to our clients, but also about empowering communities through job creation and recruitment drives that aim to alleviate unemployment within the community.”

Her sentiments reflect a growing understanding within the telecommunications sector that infrastructure investments should also translate into tangible benefits for residents.

The Sakhile store has already become a platform for nurturing local talent and creating pathways into the digital economy.

Gugulethu Dube, team leader for Net Nine Nine’s sales agents in Sakhile, has witnessed first-hand how employment opportunities within the company are helping young people gain valuable workplace experience.

“The youth employed by Net Nine Nine have gained many valuable skills,” she says.

“Skills such as customer service, developed through constant engagement with community members, have helped build their self-confidence. This opportunity has helped them achieve their goals and enhance their experience as sales agents.”

For many young South Africans, especially those residing in townships and rural areas, securing a first job can be a daunting challenge.

Companies that invest in local recruitment and skills development not only improve livelihoods but also contribute to creating more resilient communities.
