Unlike cities such as New York, Florida does not impose additional municipal income taxes, which reduces layered tax exposure. Retirement income, including Social Security, pensions, IRAs, and 401(k)s, is not taxed at the state level, strengthening after tax retirement outcomes and making Florida especially attractive for global investors planning multi-generational strategies.

These structural advantages have directly contributed to a surge in corporate relocations and business expansion across South Florida. Major companies in technology, finance, professional services, logistics, healthcare, and consumer brands have moved headquarters or expanded operations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. This continued influx of employers has supported job creation, population growth, and sustained demand across residential and commercial real estate markets.

The regional labour market remains strong, with unemployment consistently below the national average and ongoing demand for skilled professionals. While hospitality and tourism continue to play a major role, growth in technology, fintech, healthcare, construction, and professional services is reshaping the economic base of the region. Miami’s role as a financial and commercial gateway to Latin America further reinforces its global relevance and long term growth trajectory.

Miami’s global profile is amplified by a year round calendar of internationally recognised events, including Art Basel Miami Beach, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open, Ultra Music Festival, major culinary festivals, fashion showcases, and design and art fairs. These events draw investors, developers, brand leaders, and international audiences, reinforcing Miami’s position as a permanent fixture on the global stage.
At the same time, the city is undergoing an unprecedented wave of large-scale development.
