During Vensters our firsties really built on the already well-established bonds between Nerina and “die Huis van Roem en Faam”. It’s no wonder that we waited in anticipation for 9 February to arrive – it might have also had something to do with the fact that Die Heuwels

One cannot deny that Majuba is “nogal oulik”. On Valentine’s Day they paraded the streets and handed out flowers to the ladies passing by – our second years can tell you more about their cute, yet awkward experiences. A few of our girls were also asked to the Majuba Sundowners which were held at a variety of venues, including the beach, wineries and a polo match. One of our firsties, Dané made it through to the finals of the Miss Majuba competition.

Either way, the Met was a great opportunity to take out those fancy dresses and heels that barely fit in to your closet (but which you just could not leave at home!)

IBN
Inblynaweek (IBN) took an interesting turn this year – and the fugitives were put on LOCKDOWN!
By Jacolene Brand I asked a few girls about their favourite activities during IBN and whether this
special weekend, made them even more proud to be called a woman of Nerina. Not surprising everyone voiced a definite “YES - we are proud Nerinas!” Surprising enough, all the activities which was held during the 4 days, turned out to be one or the other’s number one activity. This proves that the weekend catered to all the likes and interests of our very diverse house. Thursday The weekend kicked off on Thursday with Bingo night in which Broadway stole the show. Afterwards the newcomers checked their watches twice, because the time was finally right. The evening ended on a high note with our seniors and NCC introducing the newcomers to a part of Stellenbosch they have yet to explore.
Saturday On Saturday, Middelvlei treated us to a wine tasting after lunch. It was followed by a resfavourite; WimbelGIN. Who knew playing ping pong, laughing and sweating could provide us with the opportunity to build so much gees and section spirit. Saturday evening was another memorable event, with both the Quad Picnic and our Girls’ Movie Night in the rec hall. A big shout out to Col’Cachios for sponsoring our IBN picnic pizza treats. Unity, gees and coziness filled res as ‘Super Trouper’ and ‘Waterloo’ flooded the hallways and empty rooms.
Friday Friday the whole house dressed up in our black and white, striped outfits. There were some very enthusiastic fugitives running around campus that day. The themes continued into the night at Huisfondsdans. Not My Degree, Plan B got some people thinking … What stops them from becoming queens, acrobats, crazy scientists, McDonalds workers or gym instructors? Why not become Hogwarts students or fairies? The night was magical.
Sunday Mamma Mia gave us the energy to “go again” on Sunday morning with a pilates HiitFit session.
One word descriptions I received from happy and smiling Nerinas were: “Amazing”, “Participation”, “Gees (used as an adjective)”, “Perfect”, “Nerina-magic” and “Memorable.” Lastly, what would IBN have been without our first Teekan of 2019 on Sunday evening? We are looking forward to many more Nerina moments and memories in the famous hallways of our res.
