This contest has a history of including the finest high school bands in the southeast. Your presence here symbolizes your support for quality high school music programs. We are proud to host you and your band. While you are on campus, I hope you will get to know our staff and students. AUDITION PROCEDURE FOR DRUM MAJOR

1. Vocal commands: Attention, At ease, Horns up, Horns down, Mark time mark, band halt, band dismissed

2. Conducting: 2/4, 3//4, 4/4 – Marcato and legato

3. Salute

4. Routine to a selection of your choosing – maximum of 2 minutes. Mace is acceptable, but not required.

5. Extensive interview with the judges and directors.

AUDITION PROCEDURE FOR GUARD

Candidates will be taught flag fundamentals, marching style, and a flag routine upon arrival. Selection will be based on quickness of learning, appearance, and movement skills. Please bring your own practice flag (6’) and/or rifle. A meeting for candidates interested in rifle will be held immediately following guard auditions. The make-up audition is for those students who do not do well at the first audition or could not come on that day. Audition procedures and audition times will be the same as April 11th.

AUDITION PROCEDURE FOR TIGER DANCER

All candidates will be taught the same kick routine to be presented to the judges. The candidates that pass the kick routine will then be taught the same dance routine to be presented to the judges. Selection will be based on ability to dance and kick along with poise and beauty. Wear clothing that will be comfortable for the audition. Fitted shirts and gym shorts are appropriate. No biker shorts. Also wear tennis shoes and socks. The make-up audition is for those students who do not do well at the first audition or could not come on that day. Audition procedures and audition times will be the same as April 11th.

AUDITION PROCEDURE FOR POM SQUAD

All candidates for pom squad must already be a member of the Tiger Dancers. Candidates must be able to perform a leap and a double turn. Additional requirements (which will be included in the routine for that day) are: axle, leap, c-jump, or any combination of a turn. All candidates will be taught a dance routine to be performed for the judges.
