The March quarter of the ASB Main Report regional economic scoreboard shows that Nelson has retained its spot as New Zealand’s top-performing region. ASB Chief Economist Nick Tuffley says the city’s second-straight quarter at the top is a result of

its booming tourism, horticulture, viticulture and construction – which has grown more in percentage terms in Nelson than anywhere else. “This, combined with high consumer confidence, paints a positive picture for the region in the year ahead,” he says.

Nelson also ranked third in terms of new car registrations and was second equal behind Auckland for consumer confidence. In another report released by figure.nz, it shows that the population of Nelson’s 65+ age group is set to almost double in the next

25 years, from 10,000 people up to almost 20,000. Whereas other age groups either remain steady or show a slight decrease, with the 0-14 and 40-64 age groups dropping slightly, and the 15-39 age group remaining steady.

Book fair’s back again Kate Russell Nelson book enthusiasts will once again be racing to get the best finds this Saturday, as the annual Founders Book Fair opens its gates. The nine day-long event started in 1988 and is now a Queens Birthday weekend tradition for many Nelsonians. Karen says they are up on paperback fiction, after receiving 150 more boxes of it than last year, and art lovers will also be in heaven with an extra 40 boxes of art books on offer. And, as usual, they have come across some rare gems while sorting the books, including a bible celebrating the centenary of Christchurch Cathedral which Karen has since donated to the Dean. “It’s amazing what you can find here - some people even find books here with their names on them,” she adds. A dedicated group of over 70 volunteers work to make the book fair a reality each year, including 16 core volunteers who have spent two mornings every week sorting around half a million books into over 80 specialist categories. There will be great selections of foreign language, craft and, follow-

ing requests from customers, Readers Digest specialist books will also have their own category. And it’s not just books on offer visitors can buy magazines, jigsaws, board games, DVDs, CDs and vinyl, which is proving a popular element of the fair. Dave Dixon-Didier, who sorts the record donations throughout the year, says the records sell for between $1 and $5, and it is his passion to keep them in circulation. The Founders Book fair raises around $150,000 for development projects in Founders Park, with over 10,000 visitors attending last year. School groups are also able to book in during the week to receive a tour of the fair and book sorting process. The Founders Book Fair runs from Saturday 3 June to Sunday 11 June, 10am – 4.30pm. Entry is $2 per person, $5 for a nine day pass, children are free.

Returning for its second successive year, ‘Young and Inspired – Living my Dream’ celebrates the achievements of eight remarkable young people, who will share their stories on the circumstances and challenges they have encountered and overcome, and the choices they have made along the way. Coinciding with National Youth Week, the presenters include Paul Williams, Jack Turu, Steph Scurr, Amy

Harvey, Marie Palzer, Risaleaana Pouri-Lane, James Perham and Billy Dravitzki. Event organiser Paul McConachie believes the calibre of youth presenters is exceptional. “It’s remarkable what they have achieved and overcome at such a young age. Hopefully their messages will inspire others to follow their dreams, and pursue what matters to them.” Funded by the Nelson City Council and Ara Taiohi, ‘Young and Inspired’ will be held on Friday, 2 June at the Suter Theatre from 7.3010pm. Bylaw in disarray A bylaw aimed at giving council the power to move longtime protestors like Lewis Stanton is in disarray, and councillors are now questioning the advice they received on it. The Draft City Amenity Bylaw has been out for public consultation since last month after it was unanimously approved by Nelson City councillors at a April meeting. The bylaw would give the council more control over the region’s centres, including Nelson’s CBD. But it also means that any protest in those areas would need approval from Nelson City Council first. On Saturday, a protest was held at 1903 Square against the bylaw and a submission was received last week from former prime minister Sir Geoffrey

Palmer, voicing his concern over the bylaw’s wording, suggesting it would be defeated in court. Nelson Weekly spoke with several councillors on Monday about the bylaw. They say the submission from Sir Geoffrey, widely regarded as one of the country’s top constitutional lawyers, has caused “great concern”. Others say the advice they received before the bylaw was sent out for public consultation was not sufficient. The options would now appear to either take that section out of the bylaw, but it is unknown whether that would give the council the power to move Stanton -- the main reason why it was introduced; start again; or push it through anyway.

Protest organiser Graeme O’Brien says someone within the council needs to be held accountable for draft bylaw. “We’ve had our democracy on it, because we’ve had our say, we have transparency because people now understand it, now where’s the accountability of how it made it this far? The CEO and the officer who has written the report need to be held accountable.” Graeme says if the bylaw passed in its current form it would get tested on “day one”. “We would protest the very next day and then we’ll be in court. It’s not the place of a civil servant to decide what is reasonable and what is not reasonable under the bill of rights.” Consultation on the draft bylaw closed yesterday.

The Nelson Provincial Museum has won a national award for its Murder at Maungatapu exhibition. The museum took out the award for ‘Exhibition Excellence – Social History’ for its popular and innovative exhibition Murder at Maungatapu – Crime and Retribution, at last Tuesday night’s ServiceIQ Museum Awards in Palmerston North. They faced stiff competition from much larger organisations in its winning category, with the three other finalists being Auckland Museum, Toitu Otago Settlers Museum, and the Air Force Museum of New Zealand. Weekly changes its digital platforms On the back of its biggest ever month, nelsonlive.co.nz owners Nelson Weekly and Waimea Weekly are changing the focus of their online business. The two locally-owned newspapers started nelsonlive.co.nz in early 2015, filling a gap in the breaking news space. Its numbers have steadily increased to the point where it now receives more than 200,000 hits a month, making it the most popular locally-owned website in Nelson. But with surging growth in its papers, the owners of the two newspapers have decided to “park” nelsonlive.co.nz to focus on the print editions and new digital strategies. Nelson Weekly managing director Andrew Board says the newspapers are going through a “real growth phase”. “We’ve been getting great results from our newspaper and that’s because our advertisers have been getting great results, so why fight what the market is telling us?” That doesn’t mean the company is pulling away from digital news though. Nelson Weekly will next week launch a new digital product that will sit alongside the paper’s new website www.nelsonweekly.co.nz. “We’re really excited about what we have coming up, it’s an exciting time for locally-owned media companies and I’m sure locals will love what we will be launching next week. It means more journalists covering more stories and more ways in which to read about it,” says Andrew. Waimea Weekly will also be running its own website www.waimeaweekly.co.nz, where you can find a digital copy of its paper each week and a digital copy of the region’s Grey Power magazine, which the Waimea Weekly publishes.

Good in the Hood is all good for St John Brittany Spencer St John staff popped into the Stoke Z station on Friday, talking with customers and even washing a few windows as part of the 2017 Good in the Hood initiative. St John Ambulance, Air Rescue Helicopter Trust, Blind Foundation, and Heart Kids Nelson are all are set to share $4,000 in this year’s Good in the Hood. The month-long initiative gets members of the community voting for their favourite

community group with a token each time they purchase anything from a Z station. Stoke Z Station site manager Loken Bista says they’ve had heaps of customers voting for their preferred community groups during May. “It’s great to see so many people voting this year, Good in the Hood is such a great initiative and it’s great being able to give back to the community we’re a part of.” St John area executive officer Sarah McCabe says it’s great seeing the support for St John

services locally, and receiving the financial support from Z so they can continue to help the community. “Any money helps, we have to raise up to $1500 a day to cover our ambulance services, and that covers everything from supporting our volunteers, ambulance equipment, and looking after our stations.” Sarah went down to Stoke Z with an ambulance officer and the territory manager Robbie Blankenstein who really got involved, even washing windscreens for customers.

Robbie says the Good in the Hood contribution will be a great help responding to emergencies within the community. “For the Nelson Bays territory there’s 10,000 emergency incidents per year, that includes Takaka and Tapawera but the vast majority of that is in Nelson, Richmond, and Motueka, so we’re pretty busy.” The Good in the Hood promotion will end this Wednesday, so pop down to a local Z Station and vote for your favourite group.

nelson L ve Much loved’ crash victim named: The woman killed in a crash along the Coastal Highway on Saturday has been named, but her friends and family are making sure she is remembered as more than just another statistic. Motueka 22-year-old Zoe Bishop was driving along the Coastal Highway near Moana Rd when her car collided with another vehicle around 11.45am. Zoe died at the scene and the man in the other vehicle was flown to hospital with serious injuries before being discharged on Sunday. Zoe’s family and friends have taken to social media to honour her with several posts and comments. “At 22 she had so much to live for and was such a lovely girl, always with a smile,” says a family member. “Her death is more than just another roading statistic; for our family and friends this hits and hurts.” The serious crash unit will continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Stanton is back on Trafalgar St: Lewis Stanton, aka Hone Ma Heke, is once again taking up residence in front of the Farmers department store on Trafalgar St. Lewis was sentenced to a three-month stint in prison on April 21, after punching a Nelson man in what was meant to be a peaceful protest last year. Fibre group celebrate 30 years of spinning yarns Kate Russell Reporter

The ancient techniques of weaving, hand-spinning and knitting are still well and truly alive and thriving in Nelson, as a local fibre arts cooperative gets ready to celebrate 30 years of operation. Fibre Spectrum was first started in 1987 by a group of hand weavers, many of whom had completed a weaving course which was offered at that time by the Nelson Polytechnic. It now comprises nine passionate craftswomen who are avid hand weavers, felters, handspinners and knitters who sell their work through the shop. Mary Andrews, who is one of the three foundation members still in the cooperative, says back then there were “quite a few” craft cooperatives around, but many of them fizzled out over the years. “When we started we were all young mums, and now we’re grandmothers,” she says. She says the secret to their long-lived success is not pay-

ing wages, maintaining a stable membership, changing with the times and styles of fashion, and occupying the same popular space at 280 Trafalgar St near the cathedral steps since they began. “Upgrading to an Eftpos machine may have helped, too,” she laughs. “We were probably the last shop in town to get one.” Mary also notes that the pieces they make are “classic and timeless” and will always “remain popular.” “Despite changes to colour, I think we’ve sort of by-passed fashion, although our things are still unique - you can’t go down to Farmers and find anything like we make.” Each member works in the shop for a half-day per week, all of them contributing their own unique products and business talent – from keeping the accounts, purchasing supplies and designing displays. “Everything is made in Nelson, we’re all at home making things and enjoy that half a day of retailing,” says Mary. She says they get a lot of overseas customers, as well as visi-

tors from around New Zealand. “There are a lot of people in Nelson who don’t know we are here, but we also have quite a few regular customers,” she says. Their ever-changing window display also seems to attract the attention of passersby, with 93 per cent of their business coming from foot traffic. And although it appears small on the outside, the shop itself is huge, with Mary describing it “like walking through the wardrobe from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” “People don’t realise that it goes all the way back," she says. They also sell hand-spun yarn supplies, bring in work from other Nelson folk, have a guest artist each month and offer advice to people if they need help with knitting or similar projects. Mary says they are always looking to get new like-minded members onboard, and encourages people to contact them if they are interested in selling their work. Irish music festival on this weekend Irish music will be taking over Nelson this Queens Birthday weekend, in what is New Zealand’s only traditional Irish music festival. Now in its 18th year, Ceol Aneas 2017 will showcase Irish music in venues around Nelson from Friday 2 June to Monday 5 June. Ceol Aneas means “music of the south” in Irish Gaelic, and the festival attracts traditional Irish musicians and music lovers from around the country and overseas. Highlights of the festival include the Festival Showcase Concert at The Theatre Royal, a Ceili Dance at St John’s Hall, traditional Irish music sessions at The Free House and East Street Cafe, a singing session at Yaza Cafe, and instrumental tuition workshops. Sanctuary funding 'a disgrace': The vote in Nelson council for Sanctuary funding was a corrupt process. The councillors who stood down, after being told they had a conflict of interest, were not joined by others, and the Mayor, who has in the past clearly demonstrated an apparent position in favour of Sanctuary funding. Drop in clinics to raise awareness of Alzheimers Simon Bloomberg

The Alzheimers Society is holding monthly drop-in clinics at libraries around Nelson and Tasman to promote awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and help provide support for sufferers and their carers. Alzheimers Nelson started the drop-in clinics in the Richmond Library almost two years ago and they proved so successful the society started running them in Nelson, Stoke and Tahunanui public libraries. And there’s clearly a need for the clinics with Alzheimers Nelson manager Heather Lackner saying their staff are busier than ever helping dementia sufferers and their families get the help they need. “People are living at home longer

so there’s an increasing need for our services. This year, for example, our field workers had 2974 contacts to support clients and families- that’s 640 more contacts than last year “We also had 371 more contacts with health professionals who we work together with to support our clients and families. And we received 131 new referrals to our service from March 2016 to March 2017, so we are getting busier and busier.” Heather says the libraries are a good place to promote awareness of Alzheimer’s because “people stop and ask about dementia and how they can access help”. She says the libraries are also “a safe and easily accessible environment” and that helps people feel comfortable stopping and talking about Alzheimer’s.

“We often have people who say, ‘I might be in the early stages’ and we give them advice. We’ve also had people who have been diagnosed but want to know where to go to get help.”

Heather says Alzheimers Nelson runs support groups for carers including two Alz Café groups who meet at the Boathouse in Nelson and Toad Hall in Motueka. They also have social groups for people with early diagnosis and have links with a range of agencies including Age Concern and Presbyterian Support. Alzheimers Nelson has a group of about 50 dedicated members who help running their programmes and fund-raising. The drop-in clinics are held at the Nelson Library on the fourth Wednesday every month from 10am to 11.30am, the Stoke Library on the fourth Thursday of every month from 9.30am to 11am and Tahuna Library on the fourth Thursday of every month from 11.30am to 1pm. No bookings are necessary.

A test drive with a difference Some lucky locals got a test drive with a difference at Happy Valley last week. Houston Motor Group took a dozen people to Happy Valley with new-model Jeeps with one goal in mind -- to get muddy. About 30 people went along to the day which featured a four door Jeep Wrangler diesel, a petrol Jeep Renegade, a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, and a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, kitted out with $20,000 worth of accessories. Sales manager Arron Cox says it was a great day. "We did a day like this five months ago and the response was great so we thought we'd do another. We started with an on-road drive before we got to Happy Valley." Arron says the star of the show was the Cherokee Trailhawk with its accessories from American Expedia Vehicles. Arron says the day was to introduce people to the Jeep brand and what it can do. "They are some pretty amazing

vehicles so we wanted to show people what they can do and, at the same time, reward some of our customers who are already driving a Jeep." After a lunch at the Sky Wire at Happy Valley, the Jeeps were taken through some more mud before a drive back to the Houston yard.

One of the customers spoken to by the Weekly says it was an amazing day. "I can't thank Houston's enough. Great day with some amazing vehicles. I love it when companies like this do it right and they certainly did." Arron says they're planning another event in October as they're proving to be very popular.

Mainland Foundation jump onboard for warmer healthier homes Brittany Spencer There’ll be more insulated homes in the region thanks to The Mainland Foundation after they handed over $10,000 to Warmer Healthier Homes Nelson Tasman Marlborough last week. The Mainland Foundation have covered all of the administra-

tion fees for the insulation initiative that assists homeowners and needy community members to improve insulation and heating in homes. Warmer Healthier Homes chair Bill Dahlberg says the donation is a massive help and now means donations go straight to the community work.

“If you’re putting something into charity, the biggest concern everyone has is how much actually hits the target, but in this case The Mainland Foundation have helped us get our administration down to zero so that every dollar we spend goes straight into people’s homes.” Having been up and running for

two years now, Warmer Healthier Homes has insulated 482 homes with Bill predicting another 230 homes this year. “From a health point of view, that number is massive, says Bill. “We’re really impacting the community.” The Mainland Foundation’s Neil Allen says they are delighted

to support Warmer Healthier Homes Nelson Tasman Marlborough and be part of this insulation initiative. “Its funding contribution will keep on giving and be of benefit to the Nelson community for many years to come,” says Neil. “You can’t put a dollar figure on keeping the community healthy.”

Green light for Maitai to Rocks Road cycle path The Maitai to Rocks Road cycle path, which Council sought feedback on earlier in the year, will now progress through to detailed design and construction. This month’s bouquet recipients, Biddy and Adrian Myers, are recognised for their generosity in sharing their environmental knowledge with the children of Clifton Terrace School. As neighbours of the school, Biddy and Adrian have become founding members of a new permaculture group there, tirelessly giving up their time to help support the school’s environmental efforts. They have been building new garden vegetable beds, running compost and green manure workshops and passing on their 30 years of experience to the children on how to create productive and healthy gardens. As well as their generosity at the school, the couple had previously been involved with the Waimarama Community Gardens for over four years as trustees and regular volunteers. They helped to promote, encourage and teach the public about how to successfully grow healthy food using sustainable methods. It is a pleasure to be able to acknowledge their generosity, as they selflessly provide wonderful learning opportunities for our children and our community.

The cycle route will connect the existing Maitai shared path near Wildman Avenue, to the proposed Haven Precinct and existing amenities on Wakefield Quay. The preferred option is for a shared path on the seaward side of Haven Road and improved on-road commuter cycle lanes. The Works and Infrastructure Committee agreed to support recommendations that the NZ Transport Agency take the lead on the delivery of the project. Under this recommendation, the project will be funded by central government’s Urban Cycleway Fund. Delivery of the project will continue to involve council officers to ensure it is

Young Nelsonians to share their inspirational stories Young Nelsonians who are living their dreams out in the real world will take centre stage at an event aimed to inspire the next generation of young people to discover and follow their own dreams. Returning for its second successive year, 'Young and Inspired – Living my Dream' celebrates the achievements of eight remarkable young people, who will share their stories on the circumstances and challenges they have encountered and overcome, and the choices they have made along the way. Coinciding with National Youth Week, the event provides an opportunity for young people to share, learn and connect. Funded by the Nelson City Council and Ara Taiohi, ‘Young and Inspired’

will be held on Friday 2 June at the Suter Theatre, Nelson from 7.30 – 10pm. Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee, Gaile Noonan, says supporting youth events is important for Council. “This is a way of supporting our youth and helping to inspire our local young people and encourage them to aspire to reach for their goals.” Young and Inspired is free to attend, however those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their seat, through Eventbrite.

They spent an hour in the city experiencing a variety of simulations, using wheelchairs, mobility scooters, crutches, glasses that replicate sight loss, earmuffs and straws (to mimic restricted breathing). They visited popular places around the city, including Queens Gardens, the library and a supermarket to experience the challenges that each venue provides. Works and Infrastructure Committee Deputy Chair Stuart Walker says, “This gave Councillors an opportunity to experience these challenges first hand. It helps us to consider how current and future infrastructure may need to change to meet those challenges. “We have already altered the way we install driveways across footpaths

For decades, Plunket has helped Nelson families thrive and this year marks 110 years of the institution supporting the community. The Plunket Society was founded in 1907 in Dunedin by Sir Frederic Truby King, with a vision to help mothers and save babies who were dying from malnutrition and disease. It started with The Karitane Home for Babies in Dunedin, which took in children and babies under two years who were not treated under the general hospital system. These Plunket Karitane Hospitals were the first of their kind and soon spread rapidly around the country. By May 1908, a branch of the new society had been formed in each of the four main centres, and attracted the patronage of the influential Victoria Plunket - wife of the then governorgeneral and mother of eight. From then on, the society took the name 'Plunket', after Lady Plunket. Many branches and sub-branches were established, and they fundraised for everything - from Plunket nurse

salaries and expenses, to building clinics and Karitane hospitals. Sir Truby King passed away in 1938, but his legacy lives on in the Plunket society, although the strict regime of care and directive advice has been replaced by a more flexible partnership model of care and support.

Milestones over the years include the establishment of the national car seat rental scheme, piloted in 1981 in Dunedin with just four car seats. Today over 27,000 restraints are available throughout the country. Also, in 1994, PlunketLine was introduced, a telephone advice service staffed with Plunket nurses. In the 1990s, Plunket was starting to see more Māori parents and families, so a training programme for Māori Health Workers was set up. And more recently, more Pacific Island families have started enrolling with Plunket. Today, parents of more than 90 percent of new babies access some aspect of Plunket's Well Child health service. They reach families in a variety of ways, such as face-to-face through home visits, clinics, mobile clinics, and parenting education courses. In the Nelson Tasman region, there are Plunket clinics in Paru Paru Road, Stoke, Tahunanui, Richmond, Brightwater and Wakefield.

Heritage Breads Made the Artisan Way

If you’re feeling like some freshly-baked bread made the old-fashioned way, then head down to Heritage Breads in the heart of Nelson. Third generation baker Chris Wilson opened the store in mid-May. Hollie finds perfect bodybuilding balance Jacob Page Hollie Pluck has more on her plate than most people. The 33-year-old is a mum of four and is halfway through her nursing degree. She juggles all of this with her body building hobby and, for a first-timer, she’s done it rather well. Hollie pulled off a rare feat when she not only won her novice division but the overall title at the 2017 Priority Projects Christchurch Grand Prix bodybuilding championships, in her first-ever competition. The win puts her in the running for a national title to be decided at the NZ championships in September. “I had a really dark year in 2015 and coming out of that I thought bodybuilding might help me with my confidence.” Hollie says she’s always struggled with confidence and her own body image. “I just decided to put myself out of my comfort zone and there

Hollie had always been a fan of fitness and competed in the Kaiteri Gold half marathon during her preparation, but it’s been the battle with food over the year that was a struggle. “My nutrition wasn’t great and the bodybuilding competition helped with that. “I didn’t eat enough, I had a lot of issues with food because I had low self-esteem but I wanted to do something that would force me to change that.... Things like resetting your metabolism because I could go all day and not eat anything. “Once I started prepping I had five to six meals a day and it was scary because I felt like I was eating too much.” Hollie says she has so much more energy now. “I don’t have that 3pm dip.” Because of her busy lifestyle, Hollie says she tries to focus day-to-day. “If I think about all the stuff I have to do this year then I will panic, so I set myself shortterm goals.”

She says she relaxes by running. “I’ll always be one of those bodybuilders who runs,” she jokes. Hollie admits she shook on stage from nerves the first time. “There was a lot more cheering than I expected, and I thought to myself that I can’t look that bad and that gave me confidence.”

Nelson will go in as overwhelming favourites to win back-to-back Tasman Trophy titles on Saturday. Top qualifiers Nelson will face Moutere tomorrow night in the semifinals with the winner facing either Waimea Old Boys or Wanderers on Saturday afternoon. Nelson have dropped just one game this year and the last time they played Moutere they won 53-3 at Neale Park. Assistant coach Chris Pugh says that result counts for nothing. “We can’t take much out of that game as sudden death games always sees people lift and we are expecting them to have a much stronger team than the one they had that day. whole thing,” Chris says. “We have guys with a few niggles so to give them a rest before potentially playing two games this week is a bonus, but we also have momentum at the

moment and we want to keep playing.” Chris says team management are trying to get exemptions for several players including veteran Andrew Goodman and Willis Scott, who played for the Nelson Bs as he returns from injury. “Guys have to play four games to be eligible for the playoffs and we’ve had guys returning from injury, and Goody has had TRU commitments so we are hoping that will be all worked out.” Chris says if they make it past the game on Wednesday, a match-up against either Waimea Old Boys or Wanderers would be a fitting final. “Both teams have been there or thereabouts for the past couple of seasons and both present different challenges.” The game starts at 7.00pm.

Nelson basketball official Melanie Horncastle says receiving an award from Basketball New Zealand for her commitment to the role was a ‘full circle moment’. “The first tournament I was ever sent to was with Ian Goodwin as the lead official, so to win an award that is named after him is a real honour.” That tournament, at Woodbourne in 1992, provided Melanie with the opportunity to stay in the game she loves to this day. “I knew my playing days were coming to an end and I knew I wouldn’t cope with coaching, so refereeing was the best way to stay

involved.” Melanie says she is motivated by helping the next generation of Nelson referees coming through. “I get so much pleasure out of the young ones taking it up and helping guide them.” She says playing a hand in five Nelson referees making it to the National Basketball League level over her tenure was a real highlight. Melanie is still actively involved in refereeing three nights a week and says, while tensions can run high at times during a game, she believes players and supporters have always been great to deal with after the final whistle. “People get competitive but after the game all of that washes away.”

An avid Mike Pero Nelson Giants fan, Melanie also has another reason to stay in the game. “I have five grandkids playing basketball now so that will keep me busy for the next wee while," she says. "I love seeing the young ones progress and while I know I can't continue to referee forever, as long as I can be part of the game I'll be happy. "Even if it is an off the court role like managing referees at tournaments or continuing to mentor the young referees here in Nelson, then that would be great. "I'm really passionate about the sport and as long as I'm part of it for as long as possible then that's all I can ask," Melanie says.

Passed away on Friday 19th May, 2017 in her 91st year. Loved wife of the Late Harry Williams, dearly loved mother of Molly and mother in law of Ross. Loved grandmother of Leanne, Susan, Michael and great grandmother of Hayley, Corbyn, Amy, Zara and Taisha. Much loved sister of Norman & Letty Thawley, Bruce & Margaret Jary, Graeme & Eileen Thawley & loved aunty of their respective families. ‘A gentle soul, loved by all who knew her’. She will be sadly missed. Anisy’s Tasman Funeral Home has held a private cremation for Nola. A Remembrance Service will be held at a later date. May she rest peacefully.
