Asthma ready’ attack claims mum Charles Anderson The death of young mother, who was hospitalised last week after suffering a severe asthma attack, is an “absolute tragedy,” say those close to her. Aimee Hilton, 26, was hospitalised last week and died on Friday. She leaves behind a four-year-old son. “Our beautiful girl will be desperately missed but deeply remembered and still loved by so many close friends and family,” her parents said. Aimee was a familiar face as a barista at Zumo, whose staff are in mourning. “She made a huge impact on us,” said owner Allen Chambers. “She was warm and caring and bubbly. One of our team Aimee Hilton. said to me she was really the peacemaker.” The store was closed on Saturday and Monday to give staff time to grieve. “We are in a state of shock,” Allen said. “When it

Victims search for justice online Kate Russell and James Fleury Dwayne Cosgrove is tired of being targeted by thieves, so he has turned to social media to solve crimes - instead of the police. The owner of Opel Industries is one of many Nelson businesses and individuals using outlets such as Facebook to solve crimes. This month he had $1200 worth of tools and batteries stolen from his store, so as well as notifying the police, he decided to send security camera footage of the culprit to the popular Nelson Snippets Facebook page. Dwayne had the alleged offender’s name that very same day. It’s not the first time he has turned to Nelson Snippets to solve a crime. “The police aren’t interested. You’ve got to have high quality images and videos. We’re having to chase them up constantly.” Dwayne says posting crimes to social media is “much more efficient” and it also has the added bonus of ‘naming and shaming’ and warning others. “Short of actually taking the law into our own hands, this is

Too many stores are out of pocket from these types of petty thefts.” Dwayne’s experience comes at the same time as the release of new statistics from police police, which show there has been a 34 per cent crime reduction in the Nelson region during the last year. From the months of January to May 2017, compared with the same time in 2018, the number of all types of crimes reduced by 347. The most significant reduction has been in robbery, burglary and theft. Relieving area commander for

Nelson Bays, Timothy Crawford, says this is because of new tactical plans that have been put in place for burglary and drug offending. He says that the reduction is not due to less people reporting crimes or relying on other avenues for justice. “Police can only effectively deal with what’s reported, therefore our position is, less is occurring.” However, Nelson Snippets says it’s because people are bypassing the police completely. The administrator for the page says she was contacted by 20 different people with the name of the Opel Industries thief within hours of the post going up on Facebook. She passes that information onto the business. She thinks people have “lost faith in the police actually doing any investigation into petty crimes”. Dwayne says, although he is not expecting to get his tools back, he will continue to seek answers from the police. “For small business owners, $1200 is a significant amount and when you think about all those little thefts that happen across Nelson, it adds up.”

A government regulator is investigating a local insulator who allegedly impersonated the company he used to work for while offering shoddy and “fraudulent” work around the region. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) confirmed that it was reviewing all homes that had been serviced by local contractor Marc Stewart across the top of the South Island. “EECA will audit all the Government programme insulation retrofits carried out by the person involved in this allegation,” a spokesperson said. “There are 11 claimed under the contract since inception in June last year.” Marc has allegedly been impersonating the brand he used to work for, Kiwi Insulation, and improperly installing insulation in homes. “It has fraud, fraud, fraud and deception written all over it,” says local real estate agent Doug McKee, who enlisted ‘Kiwi Insulation 08’ to insulate a rental property in Stoke he is helping to manage. The man behind the Kiwi Insulation 08, is Marc, a former contractor for “Kiwi Insulation,” – a brand which is owned by Kensair Ltd. Director of Kensair, Brent Thomas, says his company is as much a victim as the customers. He has sent Marc a cease and desist letter and started legal proceedings against him. Police are involved. “He has screwed us over,” says Brent. “It’s a farce.” Brent says he stands 100 per cent behind Kiwi Insulation,

and Kiwi Insulation 08 was an imposter. “It’s outright fraud.” Kiwi Insulation used to be locally-owned but was sold to North Island-based Kensair, which also owns the Comfort Master brand. Comfort Master and Kiwi Insulation were both represented locally by its manager Marc Stewart. Comfort Master and Marc first came to the Nelson Weekly’s attention last year when it was discovered that it was offering non-existent government or council subsidies on hugely inflated quotes to insulate homes. It attracted a growing number of complaints and was “likely” to be breaching the Fair Trad-

The certificate that Marc Stewart issued is supposed to mean that the property has met this standard. But Doug McKee says something didn’t seem right. So, he enlisted local building inspector Paul Fox to take a look. He found that Kiwi Insulation 08 had installed new batts around the ceiling’s manhole, but as soon as you went 3 metres in, it reverted back to old bats. Some areas had new bats that had been sliced in half to take their thickness to less than a third of what they were meant to be. “They had split it down three times and literally laid it loosely on top,” Paul says. “So it looked like lots of padding but if you lifted it up you could see it was only about 50mm thick.” It was meant to be 175mm thick. “We are not talking about a company doing a bad job,” says Paul. “This is a fraudulent job as they are not doing what they said they were going to do. A company alledgedly offering government or council subsidies on hugely inflated quotes to insulate homes in Nelson is attracting a growing number of complaints and is “likely” to be breaching the Fair Trading Act. Comfortmaster is a North Island-

based business, which according to its advertising flyers, does home heating, insulation, LED lighting, ventilation, cooling and water filtration. It has been cold-calling Nelsonians in the evening, asking if they’d like a free quote to insulate their home. Nelson Weekly has spoken with four people who invited representatives of the company into

their home to quote. For each of them the initial quote was around $6500 to $7000, which works out to be around $57 per square metre. The industry standard is about $17 per square metre. The home owners were then told they were eligible for a government or council subsidy which would bring the initial quote down to around $4000, still about $30 per square metre.

Nelson City Council told the Weekly that it does not have any such subsidy or grant. EECA, the government agency which offers the subsidies for home insulation, says Comfortmaster is not one of its contracted service providers and urged people not to fall for their “bullying tactics”. But Comfortmaster says all of the residents have misunderstood the

offer. It was, in fact, a discount offered by Comfortmaster because of their “superior buying power” and the over-inflated quotes were a mistake by staff. Ross Wylie, who lives on Mount St in Nelson, says he was first contacted by Comfortmaster late last year. This month he agreed to a free quote.

Top singing coach leads Nelson workshop: Top vocal coach Virginia Humphrey-Taylor will be in Nelson this weekend to coach the Nelson Bays Harmony Chorus. Men rescued from car roof at Waimea River: Two men were rescued from the roof of their fourwheel drive after a flooding Waimea River trapped them on Saturday night. Police were called at 11.26pm and were told a 4x4 vehicle had got into difficulty in the Waimea River, between O’Connor Rd and River Rd

in Appleby. It was reported that two men were on the roof of their vehicle - a Nissan Safari. Police organised for a swift water rescue team to reach the pair, aged 27 and 29. They were declared safe at 12.45am and were taken to hospital with the early effects of hypothermia. The vehicle eventually sank but it has since been seen and been reported to Tasman District Council for collection. Senior Sergeant John Price warns people not to enter swollen waterways and flooded rivers. Piwakawaka Track open to public: The newly completed Piwakawaka Track is ready to ride. The 630-metre-long track is located at the end of Marsden Valley Rd and links in with other tracks in the area. Council contracted Donaldson Civil Ltd in partnership with the MTB Trails Trust to build the shared use track on council reserve land. The trust then volunteered to extend the track at their cost onto neighbouring private land with the landowner’s agreement. The MTB Trails Trust’s Chris Mildon says the trust is delighted to have delivered the project with council and with the support of the private landowner. The track will meet the needs of walkers, kids and new mountainbikers needing a safe place to try out the sport and hone their skills. The track’s name is taken from the Maori name for the fantail birds that are common in the area.

Guy Anderson was working as an accountant in Australia when he first came up with the idea. At the end of every financial year clients would come in with shoeboxes of receipts and invoices to be sorted. There, the born and bred Nelsonian, came up with the idea for TaxSnaps, a smart phone app which allows businesses to declutter from their shoebox hell and store all their records in the cloud. “It was about trying to see what the pain points were for the customer,” he says. “People in business know they have to keep records for seven years, but you are allowed to keep it in an electronic format as long as it is clearly reproduced in English and can be produced on demand.” But it has been a journey to get his idea out of his head and into the cloud. It was two years ago when local paramedic Aleisha Hart first answered a post on Facebook. The post was from two Auckland men, Christian Newman and Mark Edwards. They wanted a child and were looking for someone to help them on their journey. Aleisha, who works for St John’s in Nelson, had a feeling. She had thought about donating her eggs before and had already had two other children. She wondered how she might be able to help another family. Then, six weeks ago she gave birth to a baby boy called Francis. But technically it wasn’t hers. Francis was created using Christian’s sperm and his sister-in-law’s eggs. All they needed was a surrogate – someone to bear the child for nine months. “Seeing their ad, it was just this feeling I had,” says Aleisha. “And as soon as I met the guys I never had a bad feeling about it.” Now, she and Newman’s sister-in-law are both known as ‘mum’ to go along with Francis’ two dads. “I never thought it would have ever been this positive,” she says. “It’s a real modern family.” But it has been a long journey – the law has not kept up pace with the state of such modern families, Aleisha says. “We had to go to lawyers, counselling, psychological

Photo: Renaye McLachlan. testing, medical testing, even before anything could even happen.” They then had to submit a report to an ethics committee to approve the procedure. “It’s been a pretty long journey, I probably didn’t even realise how long it had been until now looking back.” Aleisha says she saw helping Christian and Mark as just another experience in life. “Another thing to Iearn from to make me a better person. It has enriched me so much and I have gotten so much out of it myself. Just seeing Francis with the guys is so wonderful,” she says. She says it was a different experience to having her own children, Paris, 13 and Cayden, 5. “It felt exactly the same. Obviously, I love my children more than anything but … in some ways it was almost better. Like

when people become grandparents they describe it as that – like all that love but a bit less of the pressure and responsibility.” Even her own children are calling Francis their “little brother”. Aleisha did not get paid for helping the guys, just her expenses. She says that is the way it should be. But the journey is not over yet. Francis is still legally Aleisha’s child. Now Christian and Mark need to legally adopt their own child from her – a process which is also drawn out. “Things need to change and hopefully our story has highlighted that a little bit.” For now, however, it’s time for Aleisha to relax. Because despite having just given birth to a new-born: “I won’t be having to get up in the middle of the night.”

A team of Nelson knitters are helping orphans survive the harsh European winter. Over 100 locals have contributed to the campaign with more than 200 pieces of knitted blankets, booties, beanies and other winter woollies flooding into the Nelson Reformed Church last week and which will be sent to orphanages and impoverished families abroad. The knitwear have been made as part of a nationwide initiative called Operation Coverup, a charity project in more than 90 centres across the country. The project was founded in Taupo at the turn of the 21st century after a woman learnt of orphans living in temperatures of -25C with insufficient clothing and bedding. OCU Nelson Tasman coordinator Eileen Borgar says these children suffer frostbite and respiratory issues because of the cold. Of the 10,000 blankets shipped abroad annually, Nelson accounts for about 300. Countries that were formerly under communist rule such as Romania, Moldova, Ukraine and Albania are a focus of the project. Elaine sponsors a family living in poverty in Romania. "They live in a council flat which is one room, no electricity, no plumbing and no heating.” Elaine says the blankets require quite a commitment. "Most set the challenge to knit one peggy square a day and most blankets have 63 squares. A lot of knitters are elderly, it’s such a blessing for them to have something worthwhile to do with their talents and time.” Dorothy Fawcet, 90, donated a dozen blankets. She says she is slowing down, having previously knitted more than 20. Dorothy was inspired after seeing a young girl with children living in a cardboard box on the streets of the Philippines. WhAT’S ThE DEAl WiTh... Speed bumps or pedestrian crossings? Every Nelsonian will know the confusion that comes when walking up to a raised crossing in the central city. Do you have right of way or should you patiently wait for traffic to pass? Jonty Dine asks what’s the deal with Nelson’s raised crossings? On a recent Saturday morning, Nelsonian Dean Schneider walked up to the corner of Bridge and Trafalgar St and made a concerted effort to make eye contact with a driver before crossing the road. The car slowed and then Dean happily strolled across towards his destination. But judging by a Nelson Weekly survey of the scene on Saturday, Dean’s experience is likely in the minority. Time after time, pedestrians would nonchalantly jaunt across the raised crossing, often not checking to see if cars had stopped. Motorists also seemed resigned to the fact they had to stop to let people cross. So who has right of way at Nelson’s raised crossings? Dean says it has always been his understanding that the speed bumps were pedestrian crossings. “As a pedestrian I think I have the right of way, but I never take it for granted.” He says he stops to make eye contact with drivers to see if they see him and then go for it. “I’ll give them a thumbs up or a

Photo: Jonty Dine. smile, that’s part of being a Kiwi.” As a motorist, Dean says he also treats the areas as pedestrian crossings. “I guess what happens in Nelson is what happens in Nelson. It’s the best spot in the best country in the world and maybe we just like to do things a little differently.” The Nelson Weekly asked the official source for the final word on the matter. The Nelson City Council says courtesy crossings are not official pedestrian crossings. “The changed surface alerts drivers to reduce their speed and to be aware of pedestrians.” Council says pedestrians shouldn’t just step out onto the crossing. “Have a look first, make eye contact with drivers and smile. It's about courtesy, let cars cross if they've been waiting awhile.” Council says this also applies to motorists. “Go slow, smile and remember that pedestrians are fragile."

Husband and wife earn police awards Jonty Dine A dozen of Nelson’s finest were honoured at the Police Awards on Friday afternoon. Members of the public, police, council and local minority groups attended the awards ceremony at the Nelson Police Station, acknowledging stalwarts in the service and those who have gone above and beyond in the line of duty. Among the award winners were husband and wife, Dave and Lisa Colville. The pair have well over fifty years of service between them. Senior Constable Dave Colville was awarded the New Zealand Police 35-year Long Service and Good Conduct Clasp. Lisa was awarded a badge for 21 years of service. She says, to still be in a job after 20 years shows some level of satisfaction in your work. Working in the intelligence sector, Lisa says it’s the variety she loves most. “Also, to know you may be making a difference somewhere.” She says the police is more like a community. “I love the people, I love the camaraderie and the family feel.” Dave says he has done a 9-5

Dave rates his time doing body recovery and identification in Thailand a month after the tsunami. He says that helping bring closure to families who had lost loved ones was hugely rewarding. The problem is not unique to Nelson or New Zealand. Most Western countries are seeing strong increases in demand for mental health services. There is evidence the increased prevalence of drugs like methamphetamine or ‘P’ is contributing. Some academics have also pointed to a connection to modern technology and social media that make people more vulnerable to bullying and less able to escape. Whatever the reason, we need to improve our services to cope with the increased demand. I am seeing the problems in my Nelson constituency work. Families are critical of not being able

Nelson Matters There is no area of health care as challenging for families, doctors, nurses and our District Health Board as mental health. Local problems include the awful case where a psychotic man presented at our hospital late last year, was unattended and who subsequently left and violently attacked and raped an innocent Nelson woman. Last week we had the report released on the tragic death of the 20 year old autistic Marlborough woman at the hand of her mother as sole caregiver. There is also the ongoing controversy over the changes to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health afterhours service.

National responded to these mental health challenges with a $100 million package of new initiatives in the 2017 Budget. Designed by experts in the field, it had mental health nurses attending 111 callouts alongside police and paramedics. I am disappointed that the new Government choose to cancel it. I hope they might reconsider after the Mental Health

I commend them for the change in having mental health professionals now available at Accident and Emergency 24/7. I am particularly keen to see progress on more supported living beds being available, more immediate support for ‘P’ addicts and proposals for increased support for eating disorders. I also advocate a national rethink of the policy of deinstitutionalisation and community care. I am not talking about a return to the 1970s of having hundreds of people in large institutions

These people need supervision and supported living where they cannot harm themselves or others. The traditional whipping boys of Tasman Rugby League, the Victory Phoenix, has risen from the ashes to claim its firstever championship. Victory saw off a strong challenge from the Wairau Taniwha to claim the crown 26-12 at Champion Green in Richmond on July 14. Club chairman Pele Faauli says it was the culmination of a very special season. With Phill Tavite at the helm, and the inclusion of Wolves players after their club folded, the Phoenix defied expectations to win its inaugural TRL Trophy. “Phill is a great coach, he has taken the (now defunct) Rabbits to three consecutive title wins,” Pele says. After finishing second in the regular season, the Phoenix went on to hammer the Motueka Tigers in the semi and upset the minor premiers in the final. “Even though it was a smaller group with only three teams, we will still take the victory.” Between injuries and working commitments, Pele says it was always a challenge for the Phoenix to field a full-strength side. However, once the core began to gel, show consistency and trust the process, the results started to come. Pele says the Wolves players were welcomed into the Phoenix whanau. “We just accepted them into the team and just built a good culture around that. There is a

Every few weeks the Nelson Weekly speaks to someone interesting doing something interesting. This time we catch up with Hal Martin, the new manager at the Theatre Royal about what brought him back to New Zealand after nine years managing theatres in Australia. What brought you here? I was based in Australia in a smaller town in south western Victoria but I was keen to come back to New Zealand. I was born and raised in Wellington. The issue had always been when and if jobs come up because in the arts they are very few and far between in New Zealand. How did you get into the arts in the first place? I’ve always been an artisan designer and have a family background in the theatre, my mother and father were involved in acting in community theatre for 50 years. So, we went along to a lot of the shows they were in. It’s kind of in the blood. But being an artisan while bringing up children is hard and so I started managing an art school in Wellington then an arts centre in Auckland and then jumped

We have a lot of local community theatre that does bring in young locals but every now and then it would be good to get travelling shows doing the same thing.

What is your vision for the theatre? The trust is keen to look at more ways of bringing in new hires. It is predominantly a venue for hire but we go a long way to helping people with that. We are still tossing some ideas around and how it would look but in general we are keen to involve the seniors and young people more in the theatre. We get a little bit but it’s about getting the broadest possible cross section of the community using the theatre. Par-

I am starting a bit from scratch in terms of understanding the New Zealand theatre scene, so a lot is just networking, talking on the phone, sometimes meeting them personally and staying in touch, and getting our name out there to touring productions to make sure people know about us when they are planning tours. Last year we had 319 shows in the theatre, which is pretty amazing considering there are only 350 open days a year.

They needed extra time to do it, but the Mike Pero Giants pipped the Saints 90-87 without star forward Finn Delany in their last, and by far best, game at the Hangar this season. Locked up at 82 apiece after forty minutes of frenetic basketball, the Giants held their nerve in a tense final five minutes to hand the Saints just their third loss of the season. With finals' basketball just around the corner, coach Jamie Pearlman says this is just the beginning. "We are by no means done, we started the season with one goal in mind and that’s what we are going for.” He says that goal is to win an NBL championship. "The guys are really focused, they toil really hard and that’s all to play finals basketball.” Shooting guard Damon Heuir led the way for the hosts, topping the point

scoring charts with 30, also nabbing five turnovers and four rebounds. "It was a really gutsy effort, especially down the stretch in overtime, we really lifted our defence and came up with some massive shots.” The Cairns Taipan drained half a dozen three pointers in his man of the match performance. "I didn’t shoot the ball very well this week, so I was happy to see a few go down early.” Heuir says, while they will take plenty of confidence from the win, there is still plenty of work to do. "It’s really good to play that way at the end of the season. It’s a big win, but still taking it one game at a time.” The first meeting between the two sides this season also doubled as a top of the table clash. The Giants were without Tall Black star Finn Delany, who was sitting out a second consecutive match with a groin injury. It was a bumper atmosphere at the Trafalgar Centre which was only 97 fans short of a full house. The hosts maintained a slim lead throughout the first two periods, before LJ Peak nailed a three pointer right on the buzzer to steal the lead for the Saints at three-quarter time.

Tohi Smith-Milner made his presence felt at both ends of the court, netting 15 points and nabbing 8 rebounds for the Giants, while Jerry Evans Jnr contributed 23 rebounds in total. The Saints put up three shots in the dying seconds of the fourth, all three rolling off the rim, forcing over-time for the first time at the Hangar this season. In the final minute of the extra period, it was still anyone’s ball game, Heuir put Nelson ahead by one with 36 seconds remaining, before a Smith-Milner lay-up made it a three-point margin as the Giants faithful erupted. The Saints had a final chance to tie it up but Shea Illi’s attempt from outside the arc was astray. Following the game, point guard Kyle Adnam was presented with the people’s choice MVP award and was quick to acknowledge his teammates. "It’s a credit to these guys, they make me look good.” The Giants now turn their attention to their final two games of the regular season, backing up against the Saints in the capital on Thursday before heading south to meet the Sharks in Invercargill on Sunday. Finals weekend in Wellington will begin on August 3.

It wasn’t pretty, but Nelson celebrated its 150th anniversary in style, winning the Tasman Trophy after a brutal battle with Marist on Saturday. In atrocious conditions at Neale Park, the game was always going to be won up front and Nelson’s

pack, led by the uncompromising duo of Isaiah Miller and Ethan Blackadder, out-muscled Marist for a 16-6 victory. A scoreless second half and a sole penalty try made for a dire spectacle, however that mattered little to Nelson captain Chris Kerslake. "Just stoked, it’s the best feeling, we have worked so hard all year, struggled for numbers but we made it pay on the day, so I

couldn’t be prouder of the boys.” Chris says the win came on the back of a dogged performance from his pack. "That’s what it came down to, it’s a muddy pitch and the forwards showed a lot of heart.” Nelson coach Kade Heke says he was ecstatic, the win marking nine months of hard work. "At times we have battled, but today the players really stood up for each other.” He says they couldn’t have had a better opposition than the Green Machine. Steve and Joel proved their success in the singles and the pairs by qualifying for the last 16 in both events. Brayden also competed in the youth category and was lucky enough to qualify for the last 16, but unfortunately was knocked out in the final. Steve and Brayden both got selected for the tournament team.

Teen volleyballer returns from Iran Jonty Dine

New Zealand played four games in Iran, against Kazakhstan, Oman and Pakistan twice. Harry says despite results not going the Kiwis' way, the side performed well. “We got better, and the games got closer as the tournament went on.” New Zealand finished the tournament 14th out of the 18 teams. Harry says he took plenty of lessons from his first taste of international competition. “I learnt a lot watching the liberos and how they go about things.” The skill and anticipation of the Asian teams showed Harry a standard he now aspires to reach. “Watching Iran vs (eventual winners) Japan was awesome, the atmosphere was

The 16-year-old has just returned from Iran with the New Zealand junior men’s volleyball team after the withdrawal of another squad member prompted his late call-up. Initially selected as a nontravelling reserve, the Nelson College student was rapt to get his ticket. “I was pretty stoked, another player pulled out and they had no libero, so they called me in,” Harry says. A libero acts as a defensive specialist, positioned at the back of the court, tasked with tidying stray shots and deep serves.

FC Nelson footballers stand out Nelson Suburbs pick up big win at Christchurch tournament

Nelson Suburbs has registered its first win of the Southern Football League, demolishing Queenstown 5-0 at a sodden Saxton on Saturday. A hat-trick from Ryan Stewart ensured the boys in blue commanded the game from the outset. Ryan says, while the first-half was probably the best football they have played all season, the side is still searching for that 90-minute performance. "Up 4-0 at half-time, we put the game to bed and in the second we took our foot off the pedal a bit." Irish import James McClay was named MVP, his outstanding defensive work helping keep the visitors scoreless. Nelson are set to host East Coast Bays in the Chatham Cup quarter-finals at Saxton on Sunday, August 5.

It was a simple formula for FC Nelson at the Christchurch International Cup, striker Aaryan Kumar scored the goals while Caden Cooley defended them. The pair joined more than 1000 players aged 8 to 14 from around New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific on July 8-12 for what is regarded as the premier junior football event in Australasia. The young duo were awarded the Golden Gloves and Most Valuable Player at the tournament for their stellar performances on the pitch. Caden conceded only three goals all tournament, the least number of any goalie, earning him the trophy. He says he produced some special saves. “Our last game against FC Twenty 11 I had a lot of action, we only ended up losing on penalties.” FC Nelson ended up being knocked out in the quarter-finals by an own goal. “It was the same result as we had last year,” says Caden. While he personally performed, Caden was disappointed not to take home a team trophy. “I like to win.” He says he hopes to return next year and go at least one better with a semifinal spot. While Caden was busy protecting his team's goal, Aaryan netted eight of his own at the other end. The goal scoring machine’s exploits caught the attention of opposition coaches, who voted him the tournaments MVP. “I found out while we were driving back, I was pretty happy.”

HILTON Aimee Olivia

At the very young age of 26, died tragically but peacefully, as a result of a severe Asthma attack on Friday 20th July 2018 at the ICCU unit at Nelson Hospital. Aimee is survived by her little son Rian, Dad Paul, Mums’ Susan and Claire, brothers Brett and Ben and sister Olivia. Our beautiful girl will be desperately missed but deeply remembered and still loved by so many close friends and family, both here and those who can’t be with her, from the UK. She was familiar face, as a Barista at ZUMO, a job she enjoyed immensely, especially interfacing with the public until her untimely death last week. As a family, we have been inundated with so many kind words, wonderful deeds of unselfish help and received unwavering support during this sad time, for which we are eternally thankful. Our lives will never be the same again, but the gift of having Aimee with us for the time we did, will always be remembered with deep love, and cherished until the end of time. Love you little mouse, sleep well. Her organ donations have already saved lives……even now, what a girl. Aimee’s celebration service and prayers will be held at: All Saints Anglican Church, 30 Vanguard St, Nelson Wednesday 25th July at 1.00pm. Following the service, respectfully by invitation only, immediate family and friends”private cremation” will be held at Wakapuaka Crematorium Chapel for a final farewell.
