As Labour Day 2024 approaches, we are excited to embark on a meaningful civic duty together as a conference. At the recent sitting of the Executive Committee of the conference, it was voted to focus our efforts on cleaning up our environment by targeting the scourge of plastic bottles (PET & HDPE bottles) littering our communities.
We believe that as stewards of the environment, it is our responsibility to care for and protect the environment for this and future generations. With this in mind, on May 23, 2024, Labour Day, we are calling on all members of our church es to join hands and participate in a conference-wide initiative to pick up bottles from our streets, yards, community and waterways. We also encourage each church to partner with a community group in this project. Together, we can make a significant impact in beautifying our surroundings and preserving the natural beauty of our beloved country.
Once collected, these bottles can be brought to either the Port Maria High or the Portland High Schools, where they will be sent for recycling. Additionally, we encourage that this should not be a one-off event but each church should explore the possibility of continuing the work of ridding our communities of these bottles. We commend the churches and Pathfinder Clubs that have already started similar initiatives.
We understand that your church may currently have a project planned for Labour Day, and we want to assure you that this initiative can run in tandem with your ongoing efforts. Together, we can make an even greater impact by addressing multi ple needs within our community simultaneously.
We believe that by coming together as a conference, we can demonstrate the power of collective action and inspire positive change in our society. Let us show our love for bot h our neighbours and our environment by participating wholeheartedly in this Labour Day project. As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe that humankind was created in the image of God, and is thus to represent God as His steward and to manage the natural environment in a faithful and fruitful way. Nature is a gift from God. Let us protect it.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to making a difference in our world.
Regards,
Pastor Danielo Daniels President North East Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventist

TITHING PRINCIPLES
14. The supreme purpose of the tithe is to develop character and test our loyalty to God.
Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, wherein shall we return?...Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house. And prove me now herewith, said the Lord of hosts... Malachi 3:7-12.
“...God planned the system of beneficence, in order that man might become like his Creator, benevolent and unselfish in character, and finally be a partaker with Christ of the eternal, glorious reward.”
Testimonies for the Church 9:255.
“We should never forget that we are placed on trial in this world to determine our fitness for the future life. None can enter heaven whose characters are defiled by the foul blot of selfishness. There- fore, God tests us here by committing to us temporal possessions that our use of these may show whether we can be entrusted with eternal riches.”
Counsels on Stewardship, 22.
Books are still available for sale and will be sold at Officers’ Council tomorrow. The Publishing Department will also have other books on sale.

I am more anxious to see a wide circulation for this book than for any others … for in The Great Controversy, the last message of warning to the world is given more distinctly than in any of my other books.
