One of the top field complexes in the Town of Babylon with full concession stand. • Travel and Intramural Teams available for ages U-9 and older. • Players who plan to try out for a travel team SHOULD NOT register at this time. • Travel registration will be done after tryouts. • After July 1st, all players will be placed on a wait list with no guarantee of a spot on a team and will be subject to a $20 late fee.

Of Memories Made & Yet To Come By: Jamie Lynn Ryan As I get ready to head off to a dear friend’s graduation on this fine spring afternoon, I am reminded of a similarly lovely day 11 years ago when I donned a cap and gown to receive my BFA in Journalism from C.W. Post. The four years spent on that sprawling campus in Upper Brookville were full of fond memories… reading Leaves of Grass on the lawn in front of the Philosophy building, strolling through the Chipmunk Trail on the way to class, lounging on the Great Lawn with friends, studying in the Honors
Lounge, aimlessly wandering through the library’s book stacks... Being a commuter student, the challenge was always to assimilate into campus life, a task made much easier by my involvement in the Honors Program. Many a day was spent planning events, fundraising, working on our very own newsletter, The Athena, and networking with the best and the brightest administrators, professors and students. Perhaps the greatest benefit, though, was the lasting friendships made within the walls of that lounge, those forged on the first day of
Freshman Seminar that have endured until today, 15 years later. As a junior and senior, I was fortunate enough to serve as a Peer Mentor, leading my very own Freshman Seminar classes, and bearing witness to the next generation of blossoming friendships. Which brings me back to today, as one of those “first friends” prepares to accept a Masters Degree on the very same campus, under the big tent on the famed Great Lawn, and sets out to embark on the next stage of her career. What an exciting moment, what a memorable journey… one that, in so many ways, is just beginning.

Volunteers are needed during select movie times each day of the week from June 12th to July 30th at theaters in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Ohio. All contributions go directly to the Jimmy Fund, which supports lifesaving adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber. Now in its 66th year, the program launched in 1949 and is the Jimmy Fund’s oldest annual fundraising effort. Since its inception the program has raised more than $30 million. In its early years, the Theatre
Program attracted the support of such legendary stars including James Cagney, Loretta Young, Bing Crosby, and baseball’s Ted Williams. Volunteers can earn exciting incentives, depending on how much time they commit to the program. Celebrating College This was the final verse of the touching song, which this year’s First Holy Communicants sang to their adoring families, friends and the rest of the congregation, rounding out a beautiful ceremony all-around. Father Vincent Schifano presided over the Mass, during which each communicant humbly stepped up to receive his or her First Holy Communion. Deer Park‘s Saints Cyril
and Methodius School Students and Religious Ed participants have been preparing for this day for several months, learning prayers, songs, stories and, most importantly, the meaning behind this most holy Sacrament. Pretty dresses and snappy suits aside, each child looked fixed and focused, ready to be welcomed for the first time to the Lord’s table. Most fittingly, Monsignor Robert Clerkin also ended
the Mass by discussing the meaning of a child’s First Holy Communion and welcoming all of the communicants to continue celebrating each week with Saints Cyril and Methodius by coming to Sunday Mass dressed in their First Holy Communion attire, as a poignant and beautiful reminder to our SSCM community of the beginnings of our faith and of the blessings bestowed on each of them that day.
Babylon High School seniors and staff members celebrated National College Decision Day in a spirited way on May 1st. The soon-to-be graduates donned apparel from the school they
will be attending this fall. Teachers and staff wore shirts from their alma mater or from the colleges and universities that their own children attend. Many also used this as a teaching moment to
