Constantino Brumidi Lodge Assists Suffolk County Conference Knights Of Columbus In Providing Meals The Order of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Constantino Brumidi Lodge N0. 2211 in Deer Park through its catering company, Brumidi Catering Corporation cooked meals for 200 Health Care Workers at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing and Rehabilitative Care Center in West Islip. The CAR PARADE DISPLAYS PRIDE - Serving as a special moving up ceremony for funding for the meals was its fifth graders, West Islip’s Manetuck Elementary School held a car parade in the generously donated by the Suffolk County Conference school’s back bus circle on June 16. The meals included penne-ala-vodka, pork with rice, sausage and peppers, potatoes, and vegetables. The meals
included penne-ala-vodka, Beef Bourguignon, Flank steaks, mashed potatoes and vegetables. The meals were individually packed in takeout trays so that each health care worker on each of the three (3) shifts had an individual meal. The hot food was delivered on Thursday, May 27th, 2020 for the day shift, and Nursing Home staff reheated the food for the remaining two shifts at the appropriate times. This was another way the Knights of Columbus chose to show thanks to the healthcare workers at Our Lady of Consolation during the pandemic. The food was delivered by Brumidi
Catering. Carmine Soldano, President of the Constantino Brumidi Lodge and also the Treasurer of the Suffolk County Conference Knights of Columbus over saw the delivery of the food and met with Suffolk Conference Warden, Michael J. Tully and some of the administration at the nursing home. “This is again another great example how two community organizations can help each other and work together to show our gratitude to our Health Care workers.” The staff at Our Lady of Consolation loved the meals and stated the food was delicious.

Equity First Foundation (EFF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located here on Long Island. Rhonda Klch started this foundation with the mission to offer services, resources and programs to consumers and small businesses that are facing financial distress. Although the details of financial markets may not be necessary for everyone, a good understanding of everyday finances is needed to ensure your home, bank account and additional assets are protected as you go about your life. This nonprofit is guided by a board of experts from the Long Island business community. They strive to educate the community so people can make financial decisions with knowledge and confidence. EFF provides financial education, literacy and best practices at low or no cost to individuals and groups from primary school through retirement and including life events. Rhonda Klch, Executive Director of the Equity First Foundation has taken all necessary steps to get out of her comfort zone and attack COVID with her resources. As a women entrepreneur, she used her relationships, social media and community to power through this current pandemic. In March of 2020, when the pandemic really started to hit hard, Rhonda, along with the assistance of her board members, united to find solutions for the community despite what was going on. Rhonda believed that even though EFF programs may be on hold, that did not mean the people of the community did not still need answers and help. She has worked endless hours for the sake of the families that need assistance and need a voice. Since the pandemic Rhonda has either spearheaded or collaborated in many projects to help our community out. Here is an example of just a few: The Grab & Go 3,000 Event in Patchogue: Rhonda collaborated with business owner of local restaurant to provide over 3,000 hot meals to families in need. Grab & Go Breakfast in Rocky Point: EFF collaborated with local bagel store owner, Edward Henry of Strathmore bagels and a few

sponsors, to give-away over 300 breakfasts to families in need. 6 Week Marathon: March 29th was the beginning of a 6 week marathon of assisting front line workers with food. EFF and Rhonda did a Go Fund Me with local bagel store owner, Edward Henry to supply St. Charles, Mather and Stony Brook Hospital food every night. PPE Equipment Fundraiser: EFF collaborated with several Allstate Insurance offices to raise funds for PPE equipment. Over 2,000 masks were delivered to various hospitals, senior centers, nursing homes and fire districts. Although EFF has switched their programs from in person to virtual, they have been well received. They continue to offer free financial counseling and outreach resources for numerous families on Long Island. Miriam H. says, “Rhonda is a true professional that looks out for the best interest of her clients. She works hard at finding the best solutions and making her clients shine. West Islip Continues Memorable Tradition With Virtual Field Day The annual tradition of Field Day continued in West Islip during the pandemic, as elementary physical education teachers coordinated the district’s first Virtual Field Day. From opening day on June 3 to the experience’s conclusion on June 10, students wore their West Islip blue and gold while participating in up to 20
activities. The Virtual Field Day activities were designed to take place in each child’s living environment with common household items and props, and provided students total flexibility in modifying the activities if they had trouble replicating them. “Field Day is an important tradition here in West Islip,” said Tim Horan, the district’s
director of health, physical education, athletics and recreation. “While a Virtual Field Day may not be the same experience as our traditional Field Day, it is our sincere hope this event minimized disappointment and provided families an opportunity to create lasting meaningful memories.”

because they have an envelope around them that enables them to merge with other cells and infect them. If that protective coating can be disrupted, the virus can’t do its job. For those having trouble finding well-known cleaning agents, these alternatives may suffice. Hot Water And Soap The reason handwashing is at the top of the list of sanitizing
methods is because it is so effective at washing away viruses and bacteria. Friction from scrubbing with soap and water can help break the protective envelope, states the EPA. Soap and water can clean all surfaces in a home, especially when applying a little extra elbow grease. Hydrogen Peroxide As people clear isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) off the
shelves, do not discount hydrogen peroxide. The CDC says household hydrogen peroxide at 3 percent concentration can deactivate rhinovirus, the virus that causes the common cold, within six to eight minutes of contact. Coronavirus is easier to destroy than rhinovirus, so hydrogen peroxide may be effective at combatting that virus
as well. Natural items can be used for general cleaning, but have not been endorsed for use on COVID-19 disinfection. In lieu of shortages, white vinegar, baking soda pastes and citrus oils and juices could fill the void of chemicallybased cleansers for other home tasks.
