opportunity allowed students to witness firsthand the dynamic operations of one of the leading players in the competitive beverage industry. During the visit, students delved into the day-today functions of Arizona

Iced Tea, gaining exposure to various company departments and interacting with seasoned professionals. The immersive experience provided valuable insights into the contemporary business model and showcased the strategies

employed by the company to maintain high success in a fiercely competitive drink market. A highlight of the visit was a tour of the facility, setting the stage for engaging discussions with four vice presidents who shared their

perspectives on different aspects of the business. Chairman and president Don Vultaggio shared his own career journey, emphasizing the significance of building and cherishing relationships for success. Students and teachers

BAYVIEW STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT POWER SAFETY - The third graders at Bayview Elementary School in the West Islip Union Free School District are learning about indoor and outdoor power safety thanks to a partnership with PSEG. PSEG recently held a “Touch a Truck” assembly at the elementary school. They met Mr. Brian who is a lineman for PSEG. He demonstrated the use of all the safety equipment needed to make any kind of repairs on the power lines and poles. The students tried on many different types of equipment, such as insulated gloves and tool belts, to feel what it’s like to work in the PSEG community. Protect Your Pets With FRONTLINE AND HEARTGUARD The Long Island Pet Expo returns on March 2-3, 2024, with fur flying entertainment, dog sporting competitions and educational programs designed for the whole family. The event returns to the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena and features many special attractions, pet adoptions and outstanding shopping for pet lovers and their pets. “The Long Island area is passionate about animals and pets of all kinds,” said show co-producer Karen Garetano of Family Pet Shows, which runs several similar events in the northeast. The 100+ special exhibits always feature some of the hottest new products coming out often before they hit the retail shelves. Pets on leashes are always welcome, and several area rescue groups with adoptable pets will be on hand. Popular performers and presenters include Gail Mirabella and the Dynamo Dogs, Diana Frohman and her Beautiful Dancing Dogs, Schutzhund Demonstration by Maximum K9 Service, the Dog Lovers Days Lure Course, Rainforest Reptiles Shows, TICA Championship Cat Shows, Rabbit Hopping, the Long Island Dog Derby and more “We always have fun at these events, but we also

are strong supporters of responsible pet ownership and humane values when it comes to all issues involving animals and pets,” said Garetano. “We partner with several community organizations, shelters, veterinarians and other animal lovers educate and inform when it comes to best practices for training, feeding and all aspects of pet care.” Community and rescue organizations will be participating in the show where attendees can learn about pet adoptions as well as responsible ownership and care. The event is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees over the weekend. Adult admission is $15, Kids 4-11 are $6, and those three years old and under are always free. But today the Kitchen is posing for a postCovid reopening – a reorganizational rebirth of sorts – where Kitchen procedures can finally return to again offering guests dignified, indoor sit-down dining. The Kitchen relies heavily on its generous volunteer support and, as such, numerous onsite and off-site volunteer opportunities are now available. While there are openings for on-site positions, such as helping to prepare and serve meals and to perform various maintenance functions, there are also openings for diverse off-site positions

in areas such as finance, grant development and preparation, legal compliance assurance, marketing duties, social media facilitation and fund raising/donation coordination. Only with the efforts of its volunteers can the Kitchen succeed in its mission to provide food security to those in need. Robiglio was the recipient of the P.S. I Love You Day scholarship in 2023, given by the DiPalma family. She wanted to give back and honor the special day that the DiPalma family created. Robiglio decided to visit her former elementary school to implement the ideas of the day and educate students on the importance of mental health and kindness. She helped students write a kind word on a purple heart, which was later formed into a larger heart with each student’s kind words displayed in the hallway. It is an exciting time at the Mercy Soup Kitchen of Wyandanch as it is preparing to launch its new and expanded post Covid operation. Located in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church at 17 South 20th Street, the Kitchen served its first meal to hungry people in 1980 and currently serves an average of 108 people per day. During the pandemic, however, Kitchen procedures had to be modified in order to provide hot, nourishing meals safely and continuously to those in need. Indoor sit-down dining was discontinued and only take-out dining

Bright Lights are selected due to their exemplary integration of technology into their educational environment. “One of our big philosophies in the district is preparing our students with

the knowledge, skills, attitudes and habits that they need to be successful in life outside of school and that is really what embodies Ms. Cristantello,” said West Islip Union Free School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Romanelli. “She’s inclusive of all of our students; she has innovative ideas in the classroom; and she allows students to work independently with that perfect level
