Flotteron recently recognized Nicholas Steven Gaiardelli of West Islip on achieving Eagle Scout with Troop 151 at his Eagle Court of Honor at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Islip. Nicholas' Service Project, earning him Eagle Scout status, was creating a flowerbed to beautify the new entrance way at Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Islip. KIC Card Recycling Program KIC Accepts New and Used Any-Occasion Greeting Cards on behalf of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children now through January 31, 2024! What Type of Cards Can Be Donated: Cards for any occasion will be accepted, with the exception of photos or inappropriate material. The reverse side of the front cover must be free of writing. We cannot accept cards with family photos, company names or logos. In addition, we also accept new cards/envelopes that will be used for a letter writing campaign to soldiers overseas. Assemblyman Durso And The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Held A Free Shed The Meds Event New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso, in partnership with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, recently held a free Shed The MedsDrug Drop Off Event at the West Islip Public Library. Residents were able to safely get rid of their unwanted or expired medications by simply dropping them off in their original containers or in a ziplock bag at the library
for proper disposal by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. “Proper disposal of medication is crucial to protecting our environment and keeping them away from children and others who may abuse them,” said New York State Assemblyman Durso. “Our Shed The Meds events are a great opportunity for folks to clear out their cabinets of unwanted or expired
medicine and get rid of them safely. Thank you to the West Islip Library for hosting this event and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for helping to keep our communities safe.” If you were unable to attend this event, please call your local police precinct for information on medication drop box locations in your area.
