Repeat Customers Small business owners no doubt recognize the value of repeat customers, but few may recognize just how valuable such customers can be to their bottom lines. A study from researchers at Harvard Business School found that a customer’s eighth purchase was an average of 80 percent higher than his or her first purchase. In addition, a survey from the strategic planning, marketing and sales consultants Altfeld, Inc. found that the probability of selling to an existing customer is between 60 and 70 percent, while that probability shrinks to as low as 5 percent for new customers. Customer retention strategies like offering superior customer service and seeking input from customers can help small businesses generate more repeat customers, which can greatly improve their chances for long-term success.

External Diploma Program

BACCA Announces An Online Registry For Artist Members

The External Diploma Program offers adults 21 and over, the opportunity to receive credit for their life experiences, and earn a high school equivalency diploma without the challenge of taking lengthy timed examinations. EDP, is a competency based program for students who are unable to attend classes or who prefer to work at home. Successful candidates for EDP include former ESL students, students who have been out of school for prolonged periods of time, or students who fare better without the structure of tests. This program is an alternative to other programs. Anyone interested should call Western Suffolk BOCES to meet with a counselor. Call 631-667-6000, Ext. 327 to register.

Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) has created an Artist Registry. The Registry is open to all BACCA members at no charge as a benefit of membership. This allows musicians, artists, actors, writers, and creatives to have a listing on BACCA’s newly redesigned website, babylonarts.org. Each listing includes the artist’s contact information, website and social media links, as well as a sample of their work or head shot photo. The Registry allows BACCA to support its artists and promote its connection to the community, which is a tenet of its mission of supporting the arts in the Town of Babylon. At the same time, it helps those listed in the Registry by creating valuable exposure and highlighting their affiliation with an

established arts council. This registry allows creatives to showcase their work and generate opportunities for engagement. Artists who want to have their information added to the Registry must be BACCA members. Information about becoming a member is available on the registration page, www. babylonarts.org/artistregistry-sign-up. Emily has also partnered with the North Babylon Union Free School District, which has set up donation boxes in the main lobby of each school for students to donate new toys. “My goal this year is to match the 2,500+ toys collected and delivered last year and bring joy to the children that need it most,” Emily said. “Thank you so much for your help and Happy Holidays!”

but boy do we have a mission. We exist solely on donations and will rely primarily on fundraising to help animals in need in these precarious times. Chippy’s Angel is a unique group of Long Islanders whose goal is to be a turn to organization to assist pet owners when unforeseen circumstances with food, supplies, medical bills, shelter and even temporary re-homing of animals we want to be there because no one else is. We also help Veterans feed and provide medical care for their pets/ service animals. We hope that if someone

has reached out to us for their beloved pets; they will in turn promise to help Chippy’s Angels in the future, when they are able. No one can do it alone; it takes a village. We also will try to our sister rescues, along with our own rescue efforts when we can. Our motto is “We will give you the ability fly”. Our foundation is a different kind of rescue. The is no “me” when it comes to rescuing and helping animals. It takes a community coming together to help the helpless and give a voice to the voiceless.

Local Resident Responsible For $50,0000 Love Takes Action Grant Awarded To Nonprofit Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) recently announced that it was awarded a $50,000 Love Takes Action Award from the New York Life Foundation. The grant will support BBCC’s many free programs and services offered to the Township of Babylon residents affected. “We are grateful for the New York Life Foundation’s investment in our organization and for Marian Barr, a New York Life employee, for recognizing Theresa Prag (Terry), LAHH Case Manager, BBCC and resident of Lindenhurst for

her work in the community during COVID19, which brought about this grant, and will change many lives for the better,” said Karen Kunkel, volunteer president, Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition. The Love Takes Action Award program awards $50,000 to local nonprofit organizations, which are championed by New York Life agents and employees. Thirty-five community members from across the nation embodying Love Taking Action, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be honored. Each honoree selected

a nonprofit to receive a $50,000 general support grant from the New York Life Foundation. The Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to various breast and gynecological cancer concerns. Founded in 1993, the BBCC continues to be a grass-roots organization, providing an array of patient support services, education and advocacy programs.
