In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, Babylon Memorial Grade School participated in a series of workshops courtesy of the Babylon Fire Department. The students first gathered in the gymnasium for a presentation on valuable fire prevention measures. They were taught the importance of changing batteries in smoke detectors, how to

properly dial 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency and the importance of developing an escape plan with their family members. Followed by the talk, the students were led outside where they were greeted by nearly a dozen firefighters and took an up close look at the different tools they use during an emergency. As a special treat, they also watched as Assistant

During the program the presenters also spoke about the importance of wearing a helmet while bike riding and demonstrated how the jaws of life are used to remove a complete car door during an emergency.
