Noelle Stanuch is a Smithtown resident who is fundraising for clean, safe and reliable water in sub-Saharan Africa for the second time through The Water Project, a non-profit organization. This organization provides reliable water projects to communities in sub-Saharan Africa who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation. For each gift you make to The Water Project, you will eventually receive a report that details the technology used, the location of the effort, the number of people it serves and photographs of the process and completed water project. “Can you imagine not having access to safe drinking water? Janice Rice Holdridge, a resident of West Babylon, LI., died March 28, 2021. She was 80 years old. Janice was born in Merrick, LI. To Frank and Ada (Bartow) Rice. After graduation from high school she attended Ithica College receiving a BS in music education; Queens college where she received her MS and New York University receiving a PHD. She was the District Director of Fine and Performing Arts at Massapequa schools where she taught for 38 years. She was the leader of a fund raising project aimed at refurbishing the high school auditorium. An accomplished musician Janice was the bassoonist for the Massapequa Symphony Orchestra in addition to the organist and choir director at St.

The Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst officially launched it’s 2021 Hometown Heroes Banner Program in partnership with the Town of Babylon offering residents the opportunity to honor service men and women with a commemorative banner to be displayed in the hamlets of North Babylon, West Babylon, Deer Park, Wheatley Heights, North Amityville, Wyandanch and Copiague. First introduced in the Village of Lindenhurst, the program has now expanded throughout Babylon where banners will be displayed on decorative lamp posts from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. “We are extremely grateful to Babylon Supervisor Rich Shaffer and Beautification Director Viscel Moore for working with us to bring the Hometown Heroes Banner Program to all residents of the Town of Babylon”, said Kiwanis Committee Chair Ralph Somma. “Special thanks to “Navy Moms” Carolyn Mormino and Jeanine Walther for their perseverance in getting the Hometown Heroes program to the Town,” he added. Banners cost $200 and display a picture of the service member along with his or her name, branch and years of service. Participants can choose among one of three veterans’ organizations where a portion of the proceeds will be donated.

Why does NY State have such restrictive guidelines for animal hospitals?
We enjoy having you there too.
The NY State government has put detailed guidelines in place for all businesses, not just veterinarians. For example, medical facilities are required to screen patients before admitting them into the facility.
It’s much easier to us to talk to you directly about your pet’s health. However right now we are required to follow guidelines issued by New York State that state “Curbside intake and pickup of animals should be used, wherever practical, to minimize the numbers of clients in waiting areas and exam rooms.”* Although that creates a lot of extra work for our staff, we are committed to complying with the NY State safety guidelines during the COVID-19 crisis, and to protect our client’s health and safety. *Exceptions can be made in situations like euthanasia
Are these still necessary? Restrictions are lifted on other things. By July 2020, restrictions like curbside check-in have helped reduce the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in New York State down from over 10,000 a day to below 1,000. At the same time we have seen infections rise dramatically in other states who had fewer restrictions.
