YES Community Counseling Center www.yesccc.org
The opioid epidemic has highlighted that all ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and all communities can be profoundly vulnerable to addiction. YES Community Counseling Center has been providing both addiction treatment and prevention services for the past three decades with the understanding that the needs of each individual is uniquely different and therefore, treatment must also be individualized and utilize a variety of approaches.
YES Community Counseling Center’s addiction treatment services are comprehensive and approaches are based upon the developmental stage and readiness of each individual. Under the supervision of the agency’s Medical Director, specializes in evidence based services which are available for adolescents, young adults, adults and family members, including: •Adolescent Family Program (AFP) •Young Adult groups •Impaired driver evaluations and treatment •Moral Reconation Therapy for those who are legally involved (MRT) •Recovery groups •Trauma focused therapies •Parent and significant other support groups •Educational groups
It is also understood that most often, family members are deeply affected by addiction and require support and well as an understanding the complexities of the disease and how to support a loved one through their recovery. Early education about addiction is critical along with early interventions that build individual, family and community protective factors to reduce the likelihood of young people resorting to substances to cope with life’s challenges. In light of marijuana legalization, it is so important that parents learn the detrimental effects of all substances on the developing brain. In addition to prevention services within the local schools and community, YES CCC offers early intervention

HIBERNIAN OF THE YEAR - On Saturday, March 12th, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division Two in Babylon recognized Thomas A. Bennet, Jr. as Hibernian of the Year during their annual Shamrock Ball! Mr. Bennet currently serves as the Division Mission Chairman, meaning he is responsible for the many food drives and other charitable actions hosted by the organization. In his time as a Hibernian, Mr. Bennet has served several other positions, including President. Both Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey and Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone are members of Division Two, and were on hand to present Mr. Bennet with proclamations recognizing his achievement. Suffolk County Hibernians President Bill Gorham was also presented a proclamation at the Ball, which marked the designation of March as Irish-American Heritage Month within Suffolk County!

In addition to her leadership, Dr. LöwenborgCoyne served on the founding committee for LIAA’s Long Island Scholar Artist Awards from 2007 to 2017 and chairs the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Arts in Education Advisory Board. She was also president of Suffolk NYSCAME from 2009 to 2010 and has hosted many NYSSMA Festivals and SCMEA events in her schools. The district is very proud of Dr. Löwenborg-Coyne’s accomplishment and applauds her dedication and tenacity to the North Babylon music and art program.

The North Babylon Union Free School District is proud to announce that Director of Music and Arts Dr. Kim Löwenborg-Coyne received the Educator of Note Award from the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. North Babylon Board of Education members and administrators celebrated her achievement during the Feb. 17 board of education meeting. The Long Island Music Hall of Fame was created as a place of community that admires and explores Long Island music in all forms. It is dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. Along with Dr. Löwenborg-Coyne, the organization has inducted more than 100 musicians and music industry executives, including Billy Joel, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Run-D.M.C., and The Ramones. Dr. Löwenborg-Coyne started her teaching career in Rockville Centre schools and became the director of music and art programs

Lottery Open For West Babylon’s UPK Program Applications are now being accepted for West Babylon School District’s universal prekindergarten program for the 2022-2023 school year. The program will be funded by a New York State grant. The UPK program will be run by SCOPE and will be housed at John F. Kennedy, Tooker Avenue and Santapogue elementary schools. Transportation must be provided to and from the
program. To be eligible, children must be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022. Applicants will be selected by a lottery to attend this full-day program. To participate in this lottery, all completed forms and required documentation must be submitted via email to central registration at WBregistration@ wbschools.org or hand delivered to the central
