Notice is hereby given taxpayers of the Town of Babylon, that the Undersigned Receiver of Taxes has received the 2020/2021 Tax and Assessment Roll and Warrant. She will accept payment for taxes at her office in the Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. Lindenhurst, N.Y. 11757 or by mail, beginning December 2020 daily between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Tax Office will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. First half taxes are due December 1, 2020 payable to January 10, 2021 without penalty. After January 10, 2021 one percent per month will be added on the first half to May 31, 2021 after which date, additional interest will be charged by the County Comptroller at his office at County Center, Riverhead, N.Y. 11901. The Town of Babylon Tax Office will be accepting partial payments with penalty. We offer e-check and credit card payment through a telephone service or by the internet which includes American Express, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. For payments by telephone call 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800272-9829) or visit the web site at www.officialpayments.com. At the prompt, use Jurisdiction Code 4232. attention. Specialist Lucas decided to name him Boy Dawg, and they instantly made a connection. Each day, the dog would seek him out for attention and food. Over time, they created a bond that has helped Specialist Lucas during his time being deployed. When he got word that he was going to be sent back home to the states, he couldn’t imagine leaving Boy Dawg behind to forage on his own again. By this point, he considered him part of his family. He reached out to Paws of War to see if they could help him bring his dog back home. Paws of War has helped numerous soldiers to bring their pets back to the U.S. However, this year the mission is more challenging to pull off. The pandemic has severely limited the number of

once in a while they are lucky enough to come across a stray animal that they befriend, which brings them happiness. That’s exactly what happened to Army Specialist Lucas, when he came across a dog that he’s now desperate to bring back to the U.S. with him now that his deployment is over. “I noticed his calmness, he just wanted some love and attention. I love all animals but he was special,” says Specialist Lucas. “I can’t imagine having to leave my best friend behind, God only knows what will happen to him and my heart will be broken.” The soldier saw the dog walking around, lonely and hungry, near the base where he is stationed. As he considered how he could help, the dog made his way to him, wanting

Congratulations to North Babylon High School seniors Samantha Muller and Anthony LaFerrera who recently received New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYSAHPERD) Suffolk Zone Awards. Each year the association’s Suffolk Zone Chapter honors two seniors from local high schools who exemplify outstanding achievement in physical education. The North Babylon High School Physical Education Department

selected Samantha and Anthony based on their leadership abilities and outstanding character, according to Director of Physical Education, Health Education, Recreation and Athletics Jason Friesen. Samantha is a member of the school’s varsity basketball and soccer teams and a New York State Scholar Athlete. “She displays outstanding character in school, on the field or court and especially in physical education class,” Mr. Friesen said. Anthony, a member of the varsity baseball, soccer

and swimming teams, is also a New York State Scholar Athlete. He has also explored a passion for music as a member of the school’s concert, jazz and marching bands. “Anthony displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm in school, on the field or in the pool and in physical education class,” Mr. Friesen said. Additionally, both athletes regularly volunteer with various groups and organizations outside of school to help make a difference in their community.

Recognizing Rising College-Athletes Despite a year of unprecedented challenges and obstacles, Babylon Junior-Senior High School seniors Karlyn Antolini, Rebecca Guerra and Jack O’Brien have earned high accolades in the athletic community and recently earned spots on NCAA collegiate athletic teams following their high school graduation. All three students will be playing lacrosse: Karlyn

at Merrimack College, Rebecca at Stevens Institute of Technology and Jack at SUNY Cortland. Parents were invited to an intimate ceremony to watch their athletes commit to their respective teams by signing NCAA National Letters of Intent and each received special praise from the school staff in attendance.
