Loadbearing walls are needed to support the home, and while such walls can be removed, homeowners may need to hire structural engineers at additional cost to orchestrate such removals. Mattresses For Music Band, chorus and orchestra students at Babylon Junior-Senior High School recently held a fundraiser that could put one to sleep. They sold mattresses in the auditorium to the community to raise money for Babylon Schools Friends of the Arts. Thirtytwo mattresses were sold overall, raising an impressive $4,270. The money will go toward sending the students to this spring’s “Music in the Parks” festival in Hersheypark, where they will get the unique opportunity to perform their repertoire of songs and represent their school on a national stage. Students Represent North Babylon In Prestigious Parade North Babylon’s Robert Moses Middle School Marching Band were proud to march in the Garden City St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 1, where they performed “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” arranged by Paul Murtha. This is a very prestigious parade and is one of the oldest parades in Long

Island. This is the band’s 12th year performing in this event, where they previously won the Chancellor’s Trophy nearly eight years ago. The Marching Band along with Kickline and Color Guard were very honored to be a part of such a wonderful parade.

Chief Daryll T. Rollins of the North Amityville Fire Company, who passed away last November just as he was completing his first year as chief. On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Chief Rollins responded to a residential fire. After

returning home, Rollins was found unresponsive the next morning and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead as a result of cardiac arrest.

TOWN OF BABYLON HONORS FALLEN FIRE CHIEF - The town held a ceremony to officially dedicate “Chief Daryll T. Rollins Way,” where Supervisor Schaffer was joined by Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, fellow local officials, community leaders, members of the North Amityville Fire Company and Chief Rollins’ friends and family. An invocation was delivered by Bishop Walter Willie and Pastor Keith Hayward provided the benediction. Two students from Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School, Sean Moore and Sydney Forbes, led the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem respectively.
