Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Huntington Station) recently honored the retiring Ellen Komosinski for her remarkable 36-year career with the Suffolk County Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), joined by his fellow colleagues in the Legislature. Beginning her career in 1999 as a Suffolk County EMS instructor, Ms. Komosinski has held a multitude of critically important positions including: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Regional Faculty NYC/LI

as a model program for EMS Providers and First Responders In addition and perhaps most impactful, Ms. Komosinski has overseen the Suffolk County EMS Division “AHA Training Center” for the last 22 years. She has taught approximately 26,500 separate CPR classes for both County employees and residents and trained close to 150,000 people in CPR. “It is truly staggering how many lives Ellen Komosinski has impacted and will continue to impact,” said Legislator Donnelly. “On behalf of the entire Legislature and all Suffolk County residents, I thank Ms. Komosinski for her incredible, inspiring and impressive service. As a member of REMSCO, I know she will be missed, and I wish her all the best of luck in her future endeavors.”

Long Island’s largest year-round professional theatrical venue, The Argyle Theatre (Mark and Dylan Perlman, Executive Producers & Managing Partners; Evan Pappas, Artistic Director), presents the World Premiere of PUNK ROCK GIRL with book and arrangements by Tony-nominated Long Island Composer Joe Iconis (Broadway’s Be More Chill), arrangements and orchestrations by Rob Rokicki (Broadway’s The Lightning Thief), directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner Worldwide Associate for Book Of Mormon), and in partnership with Lively McCabe Entertainment. It will begin performances on January 20, in advance of its January 22 opening night and will run through February 27, 2022. The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). It’s a new musical featuring a score of popular songs written and made famous by female artists and female-fronted bands including Blondie, Pat Benatar, Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, and more! 16-year-old Angela Quivers is a perfectionist who never takes chances and feels like there’s no place where she belongs … until she meets Proxi, a teenager who pulls her into a world of grungy guitars, shocking secrets, and big, loud, messy emotions. A musical about a young person finding a community and creating her tribe, PUNK ROCK GIRL is a noisy celebration of all things raw and ragged; trashy and heartfelt; familiar and alien.

These freshman Legislators account for four of the eleven Republican seats on the Legislature, and as a result the Suffolk County Legislature’s Republican Caucus became the majority party for the first time in 16 years. The seven returning Legislators include Legislator Jim Mazzarella, Legislator Nick Caracappa, Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, Legislator Steve Flotteron, Legislator Leslie Kennedy, Legislator Rob Trotta, and Legislator Kevin McCaffrey. McCaffrey described the Republican Majority as “Not your grandfathers Republican Party,” including that the caucus is largely made up of organized labor leaders, female lawmakers, and a Hispanic. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone was also on hand for the ceremony, and shared his connections to the Village of Lindenhurst and its surrounding area, both through family and through elected office. On the morning of Monday, January 3rd, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin J. McCaffrey was unanimously selected by his peers to serve as the next Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature. Every two years, the Suffolk County Legislature calls to order an Organizational Meeting on the first business day following New Year’s Day. At this meeting, new Legislators will be sworn into office for the first time, new Legislative employees will assume their roles, and the Legislators will cast votes for who will lead them as Presiding Officer and Deputy Presiding Officer. At this year’s meeting, Legislator McCaffrey was sworn into office for a fifth consecutive term representing the Fourteenth Legislative District, which encompasses the Village of Lindenhurst, Village of Babylon, the hamlets of West Babylon and North Lindenhurst, portions of Copiague, North Babylon and Babylon’s barrier beach communities.
