During February, The Reboli Center for Art & History in Stony Brook is proud to display the stunning botanical and cast glass jewelry created by Michael Michaud Design, as well as by his son Michael Vincent Michaud. According to Four Seasons Design Group, which represents the two companies, “The cast glass processes very much like the lost wax process of casting metal into jewelry. The glass is melted into a mold and then cooled and cleaned reproducing the shapes and colors to be placed into the metal bezels. During the process some air may be trapped in with the solidifying of the glass. It is those bubbles inside that make each piece unique and one of a kind.” The Michael Michaud Design collection reflects his exceptional knowledge of jewelry making and his love of nature. He started as an apprentice mold cutter in 1973 and worked his way towards being a master precious metal caster and moldmaker. While a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Craftsmen, he learned many of the techniques that he still

uses today to create his designs of nature in metal. Michaud worked for some of American’s leading jewelry designers before starting his own company. Michael Vincent Michaud, the son of renowned jewelry designer Michael Michaud, studied with some of the finest glass artists at various institutions including the prestigious Corning and Urban glass programs. He was inspired by his father’s high craftsmanship and love of “art glass.” He was fortunate to begin his career at his father’s studio and collaborated with him to create glass elements for jewelry collections licensed by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This experience enabled him and his brother Shane, who handles the business side, to create their own company, Michael Vincent Michaud, in 2011. Their jewelry collection consists of pendants, necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, brooches and table art such as serving pieces, utensils, trivets and napkin rings. “For the first time, The Reboli Center is delighted

to showcase artisans who are a father and son. Our Design Shop features some of the jewelry created by Michael Michaud Design, as well as by his son, Michael Vincent Michaud. Their jewelry is exquisitely detailed and so luminous when it catches the light,” said Lois Reboli, a founder and president of the Reboli Center. Miller Place Kindergarten Registration: March 1 - March 18 Miller Place School District’s annual registration process for Andrew Muller Primary School’s kindergarten begins Tuesday, March 1, 2022 and runs through Friday, March 18, 2022. Miller Place-Sound Beach children who are five years old on or before December 1, 2022 are eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2022-2023 school year. As part of the two-step process, residents will begin by scheduling a mandatory

The Three Village Historical Society has been awarded a $125,000 grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. The grant will be used to create and install Digital Tapestry, an augmented reality experience created by the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. Digital Tapestry will focus on core members of the Setauket based Culper Spy Ring during the American Revolution and will incorporate technology that can be experienced through an app utilized on smartphones. The exhibit is scheduled to open late Spring 2022 at The Three Village Historical Society History Center in Setauket, NY. Digital Tapestry is an innovative,

Unity Through Artistic Collaboration

Rocky Point High School student-artists participated in a unique collaboration with the East End Arts Council. The school’s National Art Honor Society students Alyssa Calderon, Tessa Cunningham, Katherine Elcik, Myla Mamolen, Madison Murphy, Kalena Prendergast, Emma Raicovi, Elena Ramos, Abigail Seplavy, Lisa Toman and Hannah Townsend were joined by studentartists Robbie Christensen,

Samantha Friello, TJ Reice and Erin Weeks in the MLK Portrait Project, which honors the impact of civil rights leaders by working together in unity. The project tasked each student with creating an individual 12x12-inch panel that ultimately became a whole mosaic of images of Martin Luther King Jr. Art teachers Katerina Kyriakakis and Seth Meier played key roles in leading Rocky Point students in the process.

Every panel style is different, yet they all fit together. At the completion of the project, the portrait will hang in the high school, then be displayed in a public gallery, before being auctioned off to support the East End Art Council’s scholarship fund for art and music students. The MLK Portrait Project was created to engage talented student-artists across the East End of Long Island and to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

educated woman, Deborah was the only schoolmarm in Middleborough, Massachusetts; however, she felt a higher calling, as she heard news of the rebellion. The Long Island Pet Expo returns for the first time since the outbreak of COVID on March 5-6, 2022, with fur flying entertainment, dog sporting competitions and educational programs designed for the whole family. The event returns to the Suffolk Federal Credit Union Arena and features many special attractions, pet adoptions and outstanding shopping for pet lovers and their pets. “The Long Island area is passionate about animals and pets of all kinds,” said show co-producer Karen Garetano of Family Pet Shows, which runs seven similar events in the northeast. “We are excited to be back in the area after a long, unplanned break. The number of pet licenses
