As part of the school’s environmental education program, Woodhull Elementary School students in the Fire Island School District have been taking to the outdoors to learn about and explore their local community. During a recent lesson, kindergarten students walked along the seashore to discover different aquatic animals, examine the properties of seashells and document their findings. Additionally, students in third and fourth grade explored the grounds surrounding the school and examined items found in nature using handheld magnifying glasses. They also documented their findings along the way and were eager to share their discoveries with their classmates.

Student-Athlete Recognized For Leadership
Connetquot High School senior Morgan Elliott was recently presented with the first Tim Bassett Leadership Award by nonprofit organization Athletes Helping Athletes. Elliott earned this award due to her unique ability
to utilize the life skills she has developed through sports and for exhibiting the characteristics of a true team player. Elliott also ranks in the top 6% of the senior class, has been a member of the varsity track and basketball

CELEBRATING HIS 101st BIRTHDAY - Harry Traeger turned 101 on October 11th and wanted to celebrate with his favorite meal…Hibachi! Harry is a resident at Village Walk Senior Living and wanted to go out to lunch for his birthday, but unfortunately they have strict guidelines. Residents aren’t allowed out of the community on trips, so they brought the Hibachi to him!
Several PSEG Long Island facilities will be utilized to assist Island Harvest with upcoming donation dropoff days. The community is invited to safely donate nonperishable food and essential items to support neighbors facing financial issues and food insecurity. Collection bins will be set up outside five PSEG Long Island offices across Long Island, including: • Melville - 15 Park Dr. Thursday, Oct. 29 • Patchogue - 460 E Main St. - Thursday, Nov. 5 • Seaford - 3524 Merrick Rd. - Tuesday, Nov. 10 • Hewlett - 455 Mill Rd. Thursday, Nov. 12 At all locations, donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and PSEG Long

Confirm the mail-in ballot policy and procedure in your state as early as possible to make sure your vote is counted. • Return your completed mail-in ballot as soon as possible. Many states are urging voters who plan to vote using mail-in ballots to return their ballots as early as possible. In a mailer sent to all registered voters, the Superintendent
of Elections and the Board of Elections in New Jersey noted it is critical that voters return their mailin ballots early in the upcoming election season. Mail-in ballots can be returned via the United States Postal Service (all ballots include postage paid return envelopes), and voters also may be able to return their ballots in person at their designated polling locations or by placing the ballots in secure ballot drop boxes. Confirm your mail-in ballot return options with your local County Clerk of Elections well before Election Day. Election Day 2020 will be unique. Voters should not hesitate to take all necessary steps in advance of November 3 to ensure their votes are counted this fall.
