T h e Twilight Wish Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-proﬁt organization whose mission is to honor and enrich the lives of seniors through intergenerational Twilight Wish celebrations. Since the organization’s founding in 2003, their goal has been to make the world a nicer place to age, one Twilight Wish at a time. When a Twilight Wish is granted, a senior is recognized for all that they have done throughout their lives and is shown that they are appreciated and valued. Did you know that senior citizens are the fastest growing population in the world? The number of Americans 65 and older is projected to more than double to over 98 million by 2060. To date, the Twilight Wish Foundation has granted over 3,700 wishes throughout our country! These wishes have ranged from simple needs wishes, such as shaving razors for nursing home veterans, to living life to the fullest wishes, such as going cross country in a tractor trailer truck. Recently, many Long Island residents had their wishes come true. Below is a story about Michael, a Plainview resident. Michael wished for a record player and vinyl records. The Twilight Wish Foundation happily granted his wish, and as far as the records go, he received two of his favorites! Michael had worked in insurance and took an early train into the city every morning, returning home late at night. By the time he retired, he was ready for senior living accommodations. However, retirement did not stop his desire to volunteer. Prepandemic he worked closely to help people who were lower functioning/ had dementia. During the pandemic,

he was still the first person to ask others what they needed and if he could be of help in any way. He truly gives so much without thinking of taking. Thank you for being you, Michael! You can qualify for a Twilight Wish if you are at least 65 years old, are a legal U.S. citizen, demonstrate financial need, provide a history of giving back to others and possess the cognitive, emotional and physical ability to experience the wish. Please note, when going to grant a wish, this foundation takes all the necessary safety precautions. If you are interested in volunteering with their Long Island Chapter, you can fill out the Chapter Volunteer Application at www.twilightwish.org/volunteeropportunities/ and someone will get in contact with you regarding how you can do so. AMENDED APPLICATION OF SUNRISE WIND LLC WITH THE NEW YORK STATE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION FOR A CERTIFICATE OF ENVIRONMENTAL COMPATIBILITY AND PUBLIC NEED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SUNRISE WIND NEW YORK CABLE PROJECT PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT, on December 9, 2020, pursuant to Article VII of the Public Service Law of the State of New York, Sunrise Wind LLC (the “Applicant”), a 50/50 joint venture between Orsted North America Inc. (“Orsted NA”) and Eversource Investment LLC (“Eversource”), filed an application (“Application”) with the New York State Public Service Commission (the “NYSPSC”) for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need (“Certificate”) to construct, operate, and maintain the Sunrise Wind New York Cable Project (the “Project”). The Applicant plans to file an amendment to its Application on or about April 12, 2021 (the “Amendment”).

The Applicant executed a 25-year Offshore Wind Renewable Energy Certificate (“OREC”) contract related to the Sunrise Wind Farm (“SRWF”) and the Project with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (“NYSERDA”) in October 2019. The Project will deliver power from the SRWF, which will be located in federal waters on the Outer Continental Shelf (“OCS”), to the existing electrical grid in New York (“NYS”). The Project includes offshore and onshore components within NYS that are subject to Public Service Law Article VII review and will interconnect at the existing Holbrook Substation, which is

The SRWEC–NYS is a direct current (“DC”) electric cable (320 kilovolt [“kV”]) that will deliver electricity generated by the SRWF. The SRWEC enters NYS waters at a point 3 nautical miles (“nm”) offshore from Fire Island and will consist of one submarine export cable bundle up to 6.2 miles (10 kilometers [“km”]) in length in NYS waters to the landfall location on the eastern portion of Smith Point County Park on Fire Island in the Town of Brookhaven, and a segment up to 1,575 feet (480 meters) located onshore and underground up to the transition joint bays (“TJB”) within the parking lot for Smith Point County Park. The transition of the SRWEC–NYS and Onshore Transmission Cable will occur where the cables will be spliced together at colocated TJBs and link boxes

From the TJB, the Onshore Transmission Cable will run parallel to Fire Island Beach Road within the paved Smith Point County Park parking lot, crossing the William Floyd Parkway to a recreational area located to the west of William Floyd Parkway. The Onshore Transmission Cable will then be routed across the intracoastal waterway in a northwest direction to a paved parking lot within the Smith Point Marina along East Concourse Drive. From here, the Onshore Transmission Cable will be routed north and east along East Concourse Drive to the intersection at William Floyd Parkway. The Onshore Transmission Cable will then extend north along William Floyd Parkway to the intersection with Surrey Circle. The Onshore Transmission Cable will be routed along Surrey Circle and will continue north along Church Road crossing under the Long Island Rail Road (“LIRR”) to Mastic Boulevard. The Onshore Transmission Cable will travel west along Mastic Boulevard to the intersection with Francine Place and then turn north on Francine Place to the intersection with Montauk Highway. The Onshore Transmission Cable will cross Montauk Highway to Revilo Avenue and will continue north along Revilo Avenue crossing Sunrise Highway and continuing north to the intersection with Victory Avenue. The Onshore Transmission Cable will continue west on Victory Avenue, crossing Carmans River, to Horseblock Road.

Power from the Project will be delivered to the NYS electric grid via a new OnCS–DC to be constructed in the Town of Brookhaven. The purpose of the new OnCS– DC is to support the Project’s interconnection to the existing electrical grid by transforming the Project voltage to 138 kV alternating current (“AC”). Interconnection to the electric grid will occur at the existing Holbrook Substation, which is also located in the Town of Brookhaven, via the Onshore Interconnection Cable. The Onshore Interconnection Cable will consist of two underground 138 kV AC circuits, approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) in length, which will connect the new OnCS– DC to the existing Holbrook Substation. The Onshore Interconnection Cable will be routed west along Union Avenue from the OnCS-DC and then continue north within utility owned or controlled properties to the existing Holbrook Substation in the Town of Brookhaven. ACCESS TO ARTICLE VII FILING A copy of the Amendment filed with the NYSPSC will be served upon the chief executive officers of Suffolk County, the Town of Brookhaven, the Town of Islip, required NYS agencies, affected utility companies, and other entities.

Students Showcase Power Of Kindness Through Creativity Kindness, creativity and an exploration of technology came together for an engaging activity at Tamarac Elementary School, as third grade students in Kathleen Devine’s class used Ozobots in celebration of P.S. I Love You Day. As part of the activity

facilitated by technology integration specialist Claudia Camassa and art teacher Alexis Curcio, students used photographs of their own hands making the peace sign in American Sign Language. They then color coded a path around the photos to command movements from the

Ozobots. Using different colors, students selected movements for the Ozobots to complete along the path, such as slow, fast, turbo, zigzag, spin and back walk. Culminating the activity, students joined their peace sign photos around a large heart drawing which

connected all of the peace signs, forming a singular path for the Ozobots to travel together. The collective creation of peace which formed the track for the Ozobots further symbolized the theme for P.S. I Love You Day this year, which is “Together We Rise.”

DESCRIPTION AND PROPOSED LOCATION OF THE PROJECT

The Project’s electrical transmission facilities will be comprised of both onshore and offshore cable systems. Specifically, power from the SRWF will be delivered to the existing mainland electric grid in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York via distinct Project segments: the submarine segment of the export cable (the “SRWEC”), which will be located in both federal and NYS waters (the NYS portion of the cable is referred to as the “SRWEC–NYS”); the terrestrial underground segment of the transmission cable (the “Onshore Transmission Cable”); the new Onshore Converter Station (the “OnCS– DC”); and the underground segment of interconnection cable (the “Onshore Interconnection Cable”). The Onshore Transmission Cable, the OnCS–DC, and Onshore Interconnection Cable will be located in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.

In the 1640s, the Halsey family began farming in the Water Mill and Bridgehampton area. Today, their family farm tradition continues as Milk Pail Fresh Market & U-Pick, which is run by both Amy and Jennifer Halsey. Both Amy and Jennifer received agricultural educations and returned to the farm after college. Amy manages the retail store, helps design gardens, custom designs planters and more. Jenn is on the farm growing the crops. She once had even been named New York Young Farmer of the Year by the New York State Farm Bureau and proudly represented her state at the national finals held in Texas. At their farm they grow apples, peaches, pumpkins, blueberries, pears and table grapes. Many value-added products are made from their produce, including fresh apple cider, apple cider donuts, apple and pumpkin pies and more. With the help of their dedicated staff, this family farm continues many traditions, while also trying new ideas to grow the business! Running a farm is no easy task, but Amy and Jennifer make it seem so! Visit their farm for a great experience on the East End.

Rhonda Klch is the Executive Director and Founder of Equity First, which was formed in 2004. This organization provides financial education, literacy and best practices to the community at low or no cost. Financial decisions are based on emotional scenarios, often times leading to clients making poor choices and decisions in regards to their future. Equity First creates and implements an approved client plan until the desired result is achieved. Their programs include money management, budget reviews, financial well check, credit restoration, debt settlement, bankruptcy consulting, loss mitigation services and more. Each service is paired with ongoing consultations to ensure a thorough understanding of timelines, expectations and benchmarks. Rhonda and her team are making an incredible impact in the Long Island community. In addition to financially assisting others, during the pandemic they have also given locals in need food, gift cards, personal hygiene products and more.

Lisa Gatti is the Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian and the mother of her 13 year old daughter, who is the pride and joy of her life. Her passion for horses and teaching began at a very young age. In college, she was the captain of the equestrian team and she graduated with a dual degree in Elementary and Special Education. She has supplemented her education throughout the years by taking other educational programs. In 1996 and 2000, Lisa was named as US Team Leader for the US Equestrian Paralympic Team in Atlanta, Georgia and Sydney, Australia. From 2008-2013 Lisa served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAGALA, the global standard for equine assisted psychotherapy and personal development. In 2015, Lisa was named to the Board of Autism Communities. Most recently in 2019, she was appointed to the Town of Islip Disability Advisory Committee to help local government identify the most crucial issues facing our special needs population. She was honored with the 2020 Woman of Distinction and Distinguished Service Award from The Town of Islip, is a current finalist for the Imagine Awards for the Leadership Excellence Category and just received the 2021 Circle Of Excellence Award from the Long Island Business News. Throughout the pandemic, she still sees the greatness around her everyday and believes that when we see it in others, we know it, and when we trust its presence in ourselves, we embody it.

Eileen Scanlon has been a NYS Licensed Cosmetologist for 30 years. She has worked with Corporate America, Non Profits, Academia and local grass-roots organizations. Ten years ago, she started Scanlon’s Traveling Salon. This heart centered business helps seniors, the home confined and vulnerable, Hospice, group homes, assisted living communities, those that are differently abled, and virtually everyone in between, look and feel better. New York Blood Center Announces A Blood Emergency

New York Blood Center (NYBC) announces a blood shortage in the region, one year after New York was the epicenter of the pandemic. Before COVID-19, donors could stop by community blood drives at convenient locations like high schools, colleges, and offices. It has been one year since these groups had to cancel their blood drives due to COVID-19 and few have been able to resume these life-saving events. NYBC currently has a 4 day supply of blood, which is well below what is needed by area hospitals. New York’s healthcare system requires 1,500 donations each day to

treat patients ranging from trauma victims to newborn babies and their mothers to cancer patients. Donors with type O and type B blood are especially needed as NYBC currently has a 1-2 day supply of these blood types. “With thousands of New Yorkers getting vaccinated each day, we are thrilled to watch our state recover from this catastrophic year,” said Andrea Cefarelli, Senior Executive Director at New York Blood Center. “As New York bounces back in strides this spring, we need everyone to make an appointment and donate blood to help save lives. While the end of the pandemic is near, our

struggle to fight for those in need continues.” We are taking extra precautions to help prevent the person-to-person spread of COVID-19. As always, people are not eligible to donate if they’re experiencing a cold, sore throat, respiratory infection or flu-like symptoms.
