The relationship between UV light and viruses is a complicated one, and that complexity may be giving some people a false sense of security as they venture outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the National Academies of Sciences, UVC light is one of three types

Make Election Day Go Smoothly Be familiar with the candidates and issues on the ballot. Voting is a privilege and a responsibility, so voters should familiarize themselves with the candidates and issues on the ballot in the weeks leading up to Election Day. In addition to national or statewide candidates and issues, voters should learn about local issues that may have a more direct impact on their daily lives. The more voters learn about the candidates and issues in advance, the more quickly they can cast their votes and get to work or return home.

Election Day gives voters throughout the United States a chance to participate in their government. The right to vote is something to cherish, as many people across the globe do not get a chance to elect the officials who govern their countries. While Election Day is an exciting time, voters may find it frustrating if they do not take steps to ensure things go smoothly when they head to the polls. The following tips can help voters prepare for Election Day. Conﬁrm your polling location. Polling locations may have changed since last year, and voters who have moved in the past 12 months may now have to vote in a new location. Voters can contact their local board of elections or visit www.Vote411.org to confirm the correct polling locations for them to cast their votes. Voters should learn the hours when the polls are open so they do not arrive too early or too late to vote. Bring photo identiﬁcation. Voter identification laws vary by state, but voters who want to avoid hassles or holdups may be able to do so by bringing current photo identification with them to the polling place. While such identification is not necessarily a requirement, voters who bring along a driver’s license or state identification card may get in and out of the polling place more quickly than those who do not.

Voting on Election Day is a privilege that voters should not take lightly. Taking certain steps in the weeks ahead of Election Day can make it easier for voters to cast their ballots.

Conﬁrm registration. Voters can confirm that they have registered to vote by contacting their local board of elections in advance of Election Day. Sometimes voters’ names may not appear on the registration list when they arrive to vote, even if they previously registered. Poll workers can help voters who find themselves in such situations. But voters who want to avoid such hassles on Election Day can confirm their registration beforehand.

Prospect Sports Partners founded the Destination Project in an effort to develop and revitalize green spaces, parks, and recreational sports facilities with local municipalities to create healthy lifestyle infrastructure that enhances communities and

fosters economic growth. Over the next decade, the Destination Project seeks to build or redevelop 100+ fields and 1,000,000+ square feet of healthy community infrastructure that positively impacts the lives of millions of people each year. PSP principal Michael Orso stated, “The Destination Project is the type of infrastructure development that our country desperately needs: one that is focused on creating a sustainable model that gives way to more green space and more healthy lifestyle opportunities for

parents and children of every background. Our partnership with Agape Community Sports Services cements our commitment to this mission and its success.” Agape Community Sports Services will utilize the Sports Park at DestinationKP to give thousands of under-served children on Long Island the opportunity to participate in sports that are not usually accessible to them because of socioeconomic barriers, transportation, and/or family dynamics. The vice president of Agape Community Sports

Services, Matthew Starr, said, “As youth sports in the United States continues to become increasingly privatized, the Sports Park at DestinationKP offers a landmark opportunity to ensure that children have the ability to participate in organized sports regardless of their economic background.” Agape plans to work with a variety of local and national nonprofit and for-profit partners to offer scholarships, work-study and internship opportunities, and other creative programing to ensure the success of this mission.

Agape has engaged one of the country’s top facility management groups, Sports Facilities Management (SFM), to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Sports Park. SFM has a long history of successfully assisting in the development, operation, and optimization of more than 70 public and private sports venues for children. According to SFM’s CEO Jason Clement, “DestinationKP will be a major player in the North East and the national youth sports landscape. It’s funding and development team are deploying

The tri-annual and award-winning Long Island Restaurant Week is changing things up. Fall Long Island Restaurant Week will take place

from Sunday, October 18 through Sunday, October 25, 2020. This year, the event is all about raising money for those in need. Local

independent restaurants are the backbone of our communities. We want to be part of the solution, and this Fall Long Island Restaurant Week is dedicated to raising money for two worthy organizations: the Independent Restaurant Coalition (www.saverestaurants. com), which supports restaurants and works for much needed legislative change, and Island Harvest ( w w w. i s l a n d h a r v e s t . org), which distributes millions of pounds of food through their network of community based food pantries, soup kitchens, and emergency feeding programs. “Now more than ever, we want to make a difference for two groups in need: restaurants

and those facing food insecurity,” offers Steve Haweeli, President, Long Island Restaurant and Hospitality Group which organizes the week. About Island Harvest and the IRC “Long Island Restaurant Week is an excellent way to help people on Long Island who are facing hunger and food insecurity,” states Island Harvest President, Randi Shubin Dresner. “Thanks to your generosity, we can provide essential food support to children, families, seniors and veterans who face a daily struggle of not having enough to eat.” Adds TV personality, chef and co-founder of the IRC, Andrew Zimmern, “There

is no greater way for the public to support their communities than to help independent restaurants. Activations like Long Island Restaurant Week keep local economies moving, create or maintain jobs, provide farmers with an outlet for their goods, and so on. This year, with some proceeds benefitting the Independent Restaurant Coalition, diners are doubling down, allowing the IRC to continue to do its vital work advocating for this incredible industry on Capitol Hill.” Zimmern currently hosts What’s Eating America on MSNBC and Family Dinner on the Magnolia Network.

How it Works – More Prix Fixes! Restaurants may now offer a two-course lunch prix fixe for $20. Additionally, they may offer a $25 three-course dinner menu or a $35 three-course dinner menu, or even all three! Each participant is required to offer three options per course for dinner. Participating restaurants may offer any combination of prix fixes through the promotion. Many restaurants will be offering the promotion for takeout as well as for limited indoor and outdoor dining.
