This week we're sharing a recipe for turkey meatloaf that requires only a handful of ingredients and is sure to please the entire family.
Preparation In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, Lipton onion soup mix, eggs, water, ketchup and bread crumbs.
Use 2 lbs. of chopped turkey meat for a larger gathering of four or more people, or 1 lb. for three or less people. The below is the full recipe for 2 lbs. of turkey meat. For 1 lb. simply cut all ingredients in half.
Fold, knead and mix together using your hands (don't forget to wash hands after handling raw turkey meat). With a large serving spoon, scoop mixture into baking pan and evenly spread out, shaping into a loaf shape.
What You Will Need 2 lbs. of Ground Turkey 1 packet of Lipton Onion Recipe Soup & Dip Mix 2 Whole Eggs 3/4 Cup Water 1/3 Cup Ketchup 3/4 Cup Plain Dry Bread Crumbs

Sporting their canes, walkers, shawls and glasses, elementary students throughout Smithtown Central School District dressed as if they were 100 years old to celebrate the 100th day of school on Feb. 14. Kindergarten and firstgrade classes throughout
the district centered their day’s activities around the number 100. At Dogwood Elementary School, students created hats and drew pictures of what they would look like at 100 years old. At Accompsett Elementary, reading and writing lessons focused on the number 100. Students

100 Days of Learning colored in the number 100 and reflected on all they had learned during their first 100 days. Mt. Pleasant students also dressed the part on the 100 day and rotated through different centers focused on the number 100.
DELVING INTO CELL STUDY - Smithtown High School West students in Sara Albanese’s Project Lead the Way Principles of Biomedical Science worked with samples from the HeLa cell line to create a chromosome spread. HeLa cells are the oldest and most commonly used human cell line, isolated in 1951. Cells were dropped onto a slide to release the chromosomes, or genetic material, and then stained so the cells and chromosomes would be visible under a microscope. RESEARCHERS HEADED TO FINALS - Members of the Smithtown High School East Research Program participated in the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair on March 14. Seven of the eight Smithtown High School East students placed and two projects – Anthony D’Amore (left) and Matthew Mullahy – won first place in their categories, earning them a trip to the International Fair in Arizona in May. Your Thoughts Are Making You Stressed “Start by doing what’s necessary. Then, do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” - St. Francis of Assisi

Your life isn’t making you stressed. Your thoughts are making you stressed. If I had a dollar for every time I heard a friend, family member, business associate or a co-worker tell me they are stressed, I’d probably be retired. When a lot of tasks are on your plate at once, the human mind will fall in line with the perceived chaos of multiple deadlines or obligations, and will begin to scramble and spin around kind of like a dog frantically chasing its own tail. Have you ever witnessed a dog spin in circles chasing its own tail and going nowhere? It’s amusing and pity-inducing all at once, as you muse about what a futile effort it is. The dog is moving quickly, expending a great deal of energy and yet going nowhere. That is exactly what we do when we allow the mind to rapidly
spin in circles with stress. We are expending a great deal of energy and going nowhere. It is not the ten deadlines or laundry list of errands or looming term paper or sales quota that is making you stressed. It is your thoughts about said events that are making you stressed. Things, events and responsibilites are neither good nor bad; they just are. It is how we frame them within our emotional landscape and nervous system that determines how they make us feel. Many an afternoon, my son comes home from school declaring that he has too much to get done and it simply isn’t possible. It is true that he typically has some math homework, language arts homework, reading and guitar practice to juggle. When he does become overwhelmed, I let him know that it takes far more energy to “be overwhelmed” than it does to simply complete his tasks. Let that sink in. The truth is, the human mind has a tendency to underestimate the amount of time we have
and overestimate the amount of things that need to be done. We typically have more time than we perceive, more competency and stamina than we give ourselves credit for and less to actually do than our imagination would have us believe. When there is a storm of activity whirling around me, I keep it exactly there - around me, but not within me. The wind may blow my leaves around, but my trunk remains still. I know that nothing can be accomplished with chaotic energy, nor can it be accomplished by attempting to tackle everything at once. I make a mental note of what needs to get done, take each task one at a time, and work briskly yet attentively. I mentally pat myself on the back as each task is completed and crossed off my list. When others bring their frenetic energy into my sphere and express their own sense urgency, I let them know that I hear them and I understand the importance it has to them. I know that as I complete my tasks, one by one, all will get done and all will be well.

Three Ways To Save
Planning for the Unexpected Making sure your family knows what to do after you pass away has become easier with a new online service. Securely storing instructions online ensures your family will have the details they need. Your family needs access to key estate-planning documents, life insurance policies, financial accounts and passwords. They can
retrieve this information with an innovative Web site, which serves as an electronic safe-deposit box. Vital information is stored at YouDeparted.com and you designate who can access it. Sharing your thoughts is also easier as you can leave behind last messages and final wishes. Your information is kept safe with the latest security
technology, including the same encryption used by the National Security Agency. As a result, you can securely upload photos, movies, documents and other files. Along with storing vital information, a new site lets you leave friends some reassuring letters to remember you by. (NAPS)
(NAPSI)—Every year, some 35 million Americans move to a new home. If you’re ever among them, you should know that three simple steps can help you go a long way toward more savings and less stress: 1. Downsize. Donate, sell or toss anything you don’t love, need or use. Pay special attention to bulky, heavy stuff such as: • Books and magazines. Are you really going to read them again?
• Food. Why pay movers to pack and lug 80-cent cans of tomatoes or $1 boxes of pasta? • Old appliances. A washing machine lasts about 10 years, a dryer 13. It may pay to buy new ones for your new home. 2. Comparison shop. The American Moving & Storage Association recommends getting at least three in-home quotes. 3. Time your move. Midweek and mid-month can
offer better deals and more flexible dates with movers. Also, get an early start the day of your move. Two of the best time-savers: • If you live in an apartment, reserve elevator access for moving day. • Save a parking spot for the moving truck in front of your building. They have 7 boats that go out in our waterways to patrol and pickup trash and debris between March and November. All of the boats are operated by volunteer captains and crews that give their time to go out on clean-up trips. Clean-up trips usually last about 3 hours. After their boats are taken out of the water for the season, they bring them back to their Freeport headquarters and immediately start to work on them to get them ready for the next season.

(NAPSI)—Chef Chris Smith (aka The Diabetic Chef), a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a person living with type 1 diabetes, may have good news for the nearly 30 million other Americans with his condition: Being diagnosed with diabetes doesn’t mean your life needs to lack flavor. There are many ways to prepare nutritious and delicious meals without sacrificing taste. In fact, Chef Smith worked with Equal 0-calorie
sweetener to develop a digital recipe guide and tips to take the guesswork out of meal planning. Five other things he suggests: • Use your resources, including your health care provider, dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. • Understand the relationship between carbohydrates and blood sugar and learn how to manage them. • Monitor how much

sodium, saturated fat and sugar you consume. • Incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet. • Read nutritional labels— know what you’re eating. A variety of sweet and savory dishes that use Equal instead of sugar are suitable for people with diabetes and anyone who wants a healthy lifestyle. GOT AN OLDER CAR, VAN OR SUV? Do the humane thing.
(NAPSI)—Older homes often have a unique charm— but few have insulation that meets modern energy efficiency standards. This can result in air leaks, wasted energy and high utility bills. One way to fix this is with spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation. It can be seamlessly added in and around walls, attics and roofs. By sealing cracks, seams and joints, some SPF products provide a waterproof
membrane that acts as a vapor and air barrier, which in addition to insulating improves energy efficiency. A properly insulated home can reduce heating and cooling needs by 30 percent, according to the Department of Energy. Many homeowners don’t realize that the attic is one of the main places where heat and cold air can escape. As the Department of Energy explains, holes in a typical
attic account for 15 percent of a home’s energy loss. Cracks and gaps let air out and rainwater in. SPF can fill in around the cracks to create an effective barrier. You can learn more at www.whysprayfoam.org. Savings vary. Find out why in the seller’s fact sheet on R-values. Higher R-values mean greater insulating power.
