Mrs. Kearney read various poems, and her lucky guests had the opportunity to author and read poetry of their own, which they could transcribe to little books. There were smiles everywhere! Thank you to the teachers for facilitating the evening, to the grade levels for donating books and gift certificates to the basket fundraiser and to the PFA for hosting the book fair! The entire evening ended with a delicious cup of hot chocolate and yummy, gooey chocolate chip cookies!

Thursday… The eleventh hour. One day short of a deadline; for me, tomorrow will be spent helping to run the Society of Professional Journalists’ Annual Region I Conference, this year hosted by Hofstra University and sponsored by our very own Press Club of Long Island. A full schedule of panels and lectures by some of the region’s finest journalists is on tap, a muchneeded reminder of why it was I became involved in this field to begin with. And so, I’m off.
