TOWN MAKES SEASON BRIGHT FOR SALVATION ARMY ANGELS!

Dozens of toys were picked up from Islip Town Hall and delivered to the Salvation Army, for distribution to the organization's Angel Tree recipients. Town of Islip employees went above and beyond, buying toys, clothes, shoes and games from the wish lists of 60 Salvation Army Angels. Employees placed the unwrapped items in Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter's office, where they were collected by Santa's elves and given to families registered with the Angel Tree program. The Town of Islip has been participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program since 2015, when Supervisor Carpenter took office. "It is truly heartwarming to "adopt" these angels, and to know that you're ensuring a very Merry Christmas for a child," said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.

First Half Property Taxes Due On Or Before January 10, 2024

Islip Town Receiver of Taxes, Andy Wittman, has announced that his office, located at 40 Nassau Avenue, Islip, NY is accepting payment of the 2023/2024 taxes starting Monday, December 11 2023. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the following exceptions: On December 29th the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. As part of the SFY23 budget, $8 million was allocated to improve the conditions of the Southern State Parkway between Exit 32 and Exit 39 in Suffolk County. This investment, part of a larger fund from the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and the State Department of Transportation’s fiveyear capital plan, is solely dedicated to the renewal of State roadways impacted by extreme weather and degradation. In recent years, multiple instances of unprecedented weather events have left miles of road on Long Island in a state of disarray. The Southern State Parkway has borne the brunt of this damage, and sees over 200,000 vehicles daily. Disrepair of the Parkway has caused millions of dollars in vehicle damages and Long Island residents have understandably been frustrated. Tis The Season To Gather And Recycle Greeting Cards KIC Accepts New and Used Any-Occasion Greeting Cards on behalf of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children now through January 31, 2024! What Type of Cards Can Be Donated: Cards for any occasion will be accepted, with the exception of photos or inappropriate material. The reverse side of the front cover must be free of writing. We cannot accept cards with family photos, company names or logos. In addition, we also accept new cards/envelopes that will be used for a letter writing campaign to soldiers overseas. Please leave these cards intact. How to Prepare Cards:

Cards for any occasion can be collected, but only the front of the card will be used. Neatly remove the card fronts and be sure they are clear of any writing or they cannot be made into usable cards! Leave new cards intact and with their envelopes. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter celebrated the birthday of two residents who attend Town of Islip Senior Centers. Catherine Parente celebrated her 98th Birthday at the East Islip Senior Center. Born on November 1st, 1925 in Brower Park, Brooklyn, Catherine worked as a seamstress at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for six years before marrying her husband Jerry, whom she welcomed two children with: daughter Marlene and son Frank. Catherine has been attending the East Islip Senior Center for over four decades and is

affectionally known as the “Sunshine Lady” of Club #3. Happy 98th Birthday Catherine! Helen Wind, a longtime Bay Shore resident, celebrated her 99th Birthday at the West Islip Senior Center. Born November 24th, 1924 in Corona, Queens, Helen moved to Bay Shore in 1942. In 1948, she married her husband Joseph, and together welcomed two daughters, JoAnn and Nancy and a son Anthony. Helen dedicated over 25 years as a bookkeeper at Joseph’s business Midtown Automotive in Bay Shore before retiring

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and Live Nation Inc. are pleased to invite park visitors to enjoy the Magic of Lights Spectacular within Jones Beach State Park. This amazing display of over 1M lights, runs at dusk (approximately 5PM) now through December 30th. Tickets can be purchased online or at the entrance.
