eterans Day was observed at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care Center with numerous events saluting its veteran residents and staff, many of whom served their country in World War II. As a gesture of appreciation for their service, the veterans were guests of honor at a special breakfast, where gifts from the children of Bayview Elementary School were given to them. Thanks to all.

Full of pride, I thought I could hold it back. Little did I know, the fear. Many have tried, but none have succeeded, holding back the dam of Time. Adamant in its raw and unyielding power. None can try and flee.

The crack slowly spread, and I knew not what to do. But the crack still grew. Larger and larger, Hopeless in all proposals, I turned tail and ran. Hell hath no fury stronger than the man who runs. Runs away from Time. Callously spreading, Stuck in its dateless decay. Everything consumed. There was no more choice. In the end, I surrendered, surrendered to Time. When will all men learn, never to stand in the way of the wrath of Time!

Budget Adopted Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter announced today Islip’s 2016 Operating Budget has been unanimously adopted by all the members of the Islip Town Board with few changes. “I am very happy to
report there were very few changes to the proposed budget presented a couple of weeks ago and the Town Board has unanimously adopted Islip’s 2016 Operating Budget,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
“In addition to adopting a fiscally conservative, efficient and transparent budget, we have all worked very hard to provide Islip residents with the information they need to understand where their tax dollars go. Residents
may view the details about this budget on the town’s website,” Supervisor Carpenter added. The Town of Islip’s 2016 Adopted Operating Budget, which reflects a very modest increase of 1.54% over the 2015 budget,
is available on the town website at www.islipny.gov. Some of the services and expenses covered by the Operating Budget include: Administrative, Assessment, Building and Grounds Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance,

Celebration of Togetherness On Sunday, November 8th, Long Island’s educators, treatment professionals, and community members gathered in recognition of substance abuse recovery at the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence’s 26th Annual Peter Sweisgood Breakfast. This family-focused community event was held at the IBEW Local 25 Hall in Hauppauge, and featured powerful stories of personal struggles with addiction, as well as highlighting the efforts of addiction service providers and advocates for changes to policies affecting those suffering from substance abuse disorders. Giving Back The West Islip Country Fair Committee celebrated its 40th anniversary on September 27th this year. The annual event has become a tradition of the community over the years.
There were 300 vendors and an estimated 10,000 fairgoers enjoying the pre-season shopping opportunity, as well as an eclectic dining experience and diverse, child-friendly
attractions. The proceeds of the event go back to the community in many ways. A donation was presented on October 21st to the Friends of the West Islip Library.
