Recruiting for Full and Part-Time Positions
Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc., a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, will be holding a Job Fair at the Farm to fill a variety of full and part-time positions. Eastern Suffolk BOCES collaborates with Pal-OMine to provide students with alternative approaches for educational success. These organization’s use a comprehensive team approach and are seeking individuals for paid positions who have educational, mental health, speech and occupational therapy backgrounds, as well as those with Department of Corrections, Department of Probation, and State or
County Court experience. Volunteers, including retired first responders and veterans, are also sought. The Job Fair will take place at the organization’s farm in Islandia on Friday, June 17th, Friday, July 8th and Friday, August 12th with time slots for appointments from 10:00 am-11:30 am, 11:30 am-1 pm. To introduce the organization and all of its facilities, all candidates will be taken on a brief walking tour of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian. Parking, and where the walking tours will begin, is located at 899 Old Nichols Road, Islandia, NY 11749. Each year, the third Sunday in June is a time to pay homage to fathers and the millions of other men who have stepped into the role of father. While it may seem as though Father’s Day has been around forever, it didn’t become a nationally recognized holiday in the United States until 1972, when President Richard Nixon signed Joint Resolution 187 into law. Many thank Sonora Smart Dodd for making Father’s Day happen. In 1909, while attending a Mother’s Day sermon in church, Dodd felt fathers were equally deserving of praise. To honor her own father, a Civil War veteran and widower
who raised six children alone, Dodd petitioned for a Father’s Day on June 5th (the anniversary of her father’s death) in her native Spokane, Wash. The celebration was deferred to the third Sunday in June. Another account says Grace Golden Clayton came up with the idea for a Father’s Day in 1908 in Fairmont, West Virginia. Clayton was inspired to celebrate fathers after 361 local men perished in a deadly mine explosion. Clayton brought the idea up to the minister of her local church. Historians say that Father’s Day may even be a much older idea. St. Joseph’s Day, which
was celebrated each year on March 19 in Catholic nations of Europe since the medieval era, and later elsewhere around the world, commemorates Joseph, the husband of Mary and father figure to Jesus. It was said that Joseph should be held up as the ideal example of fatherhood. The Coptic Orthodox Church celebrates St. Joseph’s Day on July 20. In the Orthodox Christian Church, the second Sunday before the Nativity is celebrated as the Sunday of the Forefathers — celebrating all of Jesus’ male ancestors, with an emphasis on Abraham, the patriarch of the Jewish faith.

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York (Little Flower) is a human services organization that transforms caring into action to deliver services, programs and direction to improve the lives of children and families in crisis and people with developmental and intellectual disabilities across New York City and Long Island.
Children who have experienced trauma, grief and loss, substance abuse, or have poor social skills, are verbally or physically aggressive, are on the autism spectrum, etc. are offered integrated interdisciplinary treatment in a therapeutic environment at the Residential Treatment Center (RTC) on their Wading River campus. An interdisciplinary treatment team of social workers, mental health staff, childcare staff, educators, medical professionals and a recreation therapist formulate individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of each of those children. The underlying belief of the center is that a healthy community helps heal. At the RTC, children reside in modern cottages designed to feel like home. The cottages include individual rooms, common areas, a large dining room and a kitchen. Recreational programming there includes the Conway Recreation Center, athletic fields and courts and an outdoor swimming pool. The youth can also participate in off-campus recreation activities such as volunteer services and community involvement. The RTC also offers additional therapies and services, such as the Culinary Arts
Additionally, Little Flower also offers a Mental Health and Medical Department that utilizes a traumainformed, multi-systemic approach to support to all foster children. Adhering to best practices, nurses coordinate and monitor medical care, including overseeing weekly well-child clinic, and provide screenings, child and caregiver education, assist pediatricians with routine physicals and provide body checks as needed. Children receive dental services and are referred to specialists when recommended. In addition to the RTC, Little Flower also offers Community Family Treatment & Support Services (CFTSS) and Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). Their organization’s service providers address various needs, such as daily living skills, coping skills, crisis prevention, socialization and employment needs, via telehealth, in the home, school and community. It protects you from drivers who have no insurance or too little insurance. It costs a fraction of what Liability coverage costs. Yet, many people, especially those with older policies, have less SUM coverage than they are allowed. Recently enacted state laws require insurance agents to explain to new customers, how much SUM they may purchase. If your SUM does not equal your Bodily Injury coverage, talk to a licensed agent.

Lack of an appropriate financial, or physical exam, will render your ‘full coverage’ leaving you largely exposed.
