After Four Years, The US Navy Blue Angels Return For Long Island’s Greatest Show

Bethpage Federal Credit Union, New York State’s largest credit union, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, announce the performer line-up for the much-anticipated 18th Annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach, taking place on Saturday, May 28, 2022 and Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 10 AM – 3 PM. Returning for their 9th headlining performance, with two native New Yorkers on the jet team, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels return to Long Island following the cancellation of their last scheduled performance in 2020, due to Covid. Military performers joining the Blue Angels are the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, which will be making their 16th appearance at the Bethpage Air Show; the Air Combat Command

F-22 Raptor; the U.S. Navy F-35C Tac Demonstration Team; the U.S. Coast Guard; and the 106th Rescue Wing NY Air National Guard HC - 130 / HH 60 Demonstration Team. Civilian performers include the world-famous Skytypers and their flight squadron of five vintage WWII aircraft; Mike Goulian, North America’s most decorated aerobatic pilot; Jessy Panzer, a highly recognized female aerobatic pilot making her second Bethpage Air Show appearance; the American Air Power Museum Warbirds; Long Island’s own David Windmiller; and the SUNY Farmingdale State College Flying Rams, who will fly several of their 22 college-owned aircraft. “This year’s highly anticipated show is going to be spectacular! We are very pleased to welcome the Blue Angels

card that can be shared within a household and not assigned to a specific vehicle. The Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk (EOC of Suffolk), is a nonproﬁt, communitybased organization that was founded in 1967 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s “Great Society” legislation.

Mothers always know what’s best, so tell them your problems, get them off your chest. They will always be there for you, remember that, as they may be one of just a few. Mothers love in such a selfless way, maybe every day should be Mother’s Day!

EOC of Suffolk promotes self-sufﬁciency among low-income families and individuals by revitalizing communities, broadening the minds of children and assisting families in need. Formally designated as a “Community Action Agency” by the federal government, it channels block grants from Washington to meet the needs of Long Islanders.

2) Its Developmental Disabilities work, which provides a comprehensive array of services for people with developmental disabilities – all aimed at enhancing their quality of life. 3) The Chronic Health Care Coordination program, which helps individuals manage their own physical health, mental health and social needs in a comprehensive manner. Additionally, ﬁve of their many programs offered in Suffolk County include: 1) EOC of Suffolk’s Youth and Adolescent Services, which promotes leadership, healthy decision making, sexual health and pregnancy prevention among local youth. The organization’s after-school programs serve more than 1,000 middle school students daily, providing academic and skill-building activities that promote

vocational and educational growth. 2) The Rapid Rehousing Program, which helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness and aims to return them as quickly as possible to permanent housing within their home communities. EOC of Suffolk team members address and troubleshoot barriers to obtaining and maintaining permanent housing. 3) EOC of Suffolk helps keep neighborhood streets safe though its SNUG (GUNS spelled backwards) Violence Prevention program, which functions in cooperation with residents, private industry and communitybased organizations. SNUG helps identify and defuse community “hot spots”. It also provides mentorship and leadership-oriented services to youth who are gang members or who are at risk of joining gangs. 4) The organization’s Targeted Prevention and Supportive Service Program supports people living with HIV/ AIDS. Clients are treated with respect, dignity, privacy and trust. Services include transportation, consumer advice, assistance obtaining beneﬁts, linkages to substance abuse and mental health services, legal services, health education and testing. 5) Recognizing the importance of childcare for working families, EOC of Suffolk owns and operates three childcare learning centers: Way to Grow in East Patchogue, Montauk Childcare Center and a childcare center at the Family Court complex in Central Islip. Those facilities meet the highest standards of early childhood education. Children participate in activities providing intellectual stimulation and fostering self-reliance and social responsibility. The Kiwanis Club of the Islips – Bayshore will be hosting a Car Show & Fundraiser on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at Suffolk Transportation located at 50 Saxon Avenue in Bay Shore. Completely outdoor socially distant charitable event with proceeds benefitting the Kiwanis Outreach for Children, The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) it is now accepting applications for their 2022 Student Scholarship and “Educator of Note” programs. This year, LIMHoF will award four $500 scholarships to graduating students. These scholarships will provide funding for eligible graduating high school students from Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Queens, or Kings (Brooklyn) Counties who have shown an interest in pursuing a career in music. Historical Society Of Islip Hamlet And The Islip Public Library Co-Sponsoring A Program Titled "Plum Island: A World Unto Itself"

On Friday, May 20th, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet and the Islip Public Library are co-sponsoring a program titled "Plum Island: A World Unto Itself" by author/ historian Amy Folk. Islands are by nature mystical, mysterious and mutable. So it seems fitting that Plum Island, located at the tip of Long Island, NY

is shaped like a question mark. But, this island is different - it is unlike any other island anywhere in the world. Through several wars and many incarnations the island has remained in a semi natural state. But for many in the 21st century, Plum Island - heavily patrolled and off-limits to virtually everyone remains shrouded in

secrecy and is viewed with skepticism to apprehension about what really goes on there. The program will be held at the Islip Public Library, 71 Monell Ave., 7-9 pm, is free and open to the public. Hospital Association Offers $2,000 Scholarship The Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC) announces a $2,000 scholarship for college juniors/seniors or post graduate students who are studying Journalism, Marketing/ Communications, or Healthcare Administration.

(The scholarship is not for clinical-based study.) The Ann Marie Brown Memorial Scholarship honors the late Ann Marie Brown, who served as vice president for government and public relations for the Hospital Council from 1983 to 1993. The
