Fall is one of the best times of year to give your lawn some extra attention. Cooler temperatures, more moderate weather and adequate moisture provide favorable conditions for cool-season grasses to recover from summer stress, strengthen their roots and prepare for the winter months.

On September 27, 2026, in celebration of our earliest roots as a community and our residents’ omnipresent community and volunteer spirit, the Lindenhurst Historical Society will host its fourth annual Volksmarch. Volksmarching was founded in Germany over 50 years ago. Participants are invited to stroll through the Village stopping at designated, historically relevant sites. The noncompetitive walk is approximately three miles in length and can be easily traversed at a leisurely gait. At each designated stop, participants will be greeted by a docent conversant in the site’s history and will be given recognition for completing the stop. All registrants completing the entire route will receive a commemorative medal to indicate they successfully completed the walk.
