The Msgr. William A. Delaney Council of the Knights of Columbus held a 9-11 gathering and service on Friday September 11, 2026, at the Council Facility located at 110 Merritts Road in Farmingdale. The program consisted of lowering the exterior flag at the building to half mast to mark the souls that perished twenty-five years ago on the dreaded day. Thie was followed by a candlelight ceremony indoors with a program and service led by the Associate Chaplains of the Council, Deacon John Horn and Deacon Chris Daniello. All attendees had a copy of the program and read aloud the parts that required all to participate in the service. Grand Knight Chris Chalmers also was part of the Ceremonial team that led the service. He later thanked all in attendance

Farmingdale Village Fun continues into Fall with many upcoming community events planned. The community enjoyed the Memorial Day Parade, Spring Street Fair, Medieval History Day, Farmingdale Music On Main, Movie Nights, Village Pops Concerts conducted by Edward Albinski, Runners Edge Main Street Mile, the Farmers Market and more! Two significant milestones were celebrated on the Village Green at the Pops Concerts this Summer. Farmingdale Village unveiled a monument in honor of Moses Cornelius, celebrating our Country’s 250th Anniversary on July 1st. The historic evening featured the pops orchestra, minutes of history by Village Historian Debbie Podolski and a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson actor, Donn Weber of Hardscrabble Theater. At the July 8th Pops Concert, the Village Gazebo was dedicated to Brad DeMilo, the beloved Farmingdale Village Pops Orchestra conductor who started the Pops concerts and conducted the orchestra for 42 magnificent seasons. Fall is one of the best times of year to give your lawn some extra attention. Cooler temperatures, more moderate weather and adequate moisture provide favorable conditions for cool-season grasses to recover from summer stress, strengthen their roots and prepare for the winter months.

Keep mowing. Even as temperatures cool, grass may continue growing. Keep mowing as needed, but avoid cutting the lawn too short. A good rule is to remove no more than one-third of the grass blade at a time.

Fertilize wisely. Fall fertilization can help cool-season grasses recover from summer and build stronger root systems before winter. Homeowners should follow fertilizer directions carefully and consider having the soil tested to determine which nutrients are actually needed.

Stay on top of leaves. Fallen leaves can quickly cover a lawn in autumn. A thick layer can block sunlight and air, trap moisture and contribute to lawn problems. Rake or remove heavy accumulations regularly. Smaller amounts of leaves can often be mulched with a mower and returned to the lawn. Aerate compacted soil. Fall is a good time to aerate lawns that receive heavy foot trafﬁc or have compacted soil. Core aeration creates small openings that allow water, air and nutrients to reach

Be sure to follow all product directions and use treatments appropriate for the lawn. Taking care of these tasks in fall can help homeowners enjoy a healthier, greener lawn when spring returns. Town To Host Job Fair For People With All Abilities On Oct. 5th Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board has announced that the Town will host the 2026 Talent Connection Job Expo, a unique event designed to unite Long Island’s employers with people with all abilities. This event will take place on Monday, October 5, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center, located at 1001 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage. “The Talent Connection Job Expo aims to provide an inclusive platform where people with all abilities can connect with recruiters from

various industries, explore employment opportunities that match their skills and abilities, and engage with potential employers in a supportive environment,” Supervisor Saladino said. “We believe that every individual, regardless of ability, has something unique to offer. This job expo is about unlocking those possibilities and creating pathways to success.” Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with recruiters representing several industries, ensuring a diverse range of job opportunities. Peanut Butter Collection Drive

Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Tom Hand announce that the Town will once again partner with the Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club to host a Peanut Butter Collection Drive to help replenish local food pantries. Beginning October 1st, residents are invited to donate new, unopened and sealed peanut butter to help support local families in need. Drop-off containers are located at Town Halls North and South, as well as at the Town Ice Skating Center. Alternative butters, including sun butters, almond butters and cookie butters, as well as jelly, are also accepted. “We are proud to once again partner with this great organization to help ‘spread the love’ and stock local food pantry shelves with this very popular product,” said Supervisor Saladino. “Peanut butter is among the most highly requested food items at local food banks as it has a long shelf life, provides

many nutrients and doesn’t require refrigeration. We thank the Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club for again putting our local communities first with this wonderful initiative.” The Massapequa Farmingdale Men’s Club mission is to provide and encourage involvement in education, charitable and social programs for the men of local communities, and to support the local and wider community with activities and contributions. “The MassapequaFarmingdale Men’s Club has been assisting members of local communities and foodbanks for several years, and we’re thrilled to partner with them on such initiatives,” said Councilman Hand. To Host Annual Golf Tournament At Bethpage Black Course The Foundation for Long Island State Parks, Inc. will host its Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, October 8, at Bethpage State Park, bringing together supporters, partners, business leaders, and friends of New York State Parks for a premier day of golf at one of the nation’s most celebrated public golf destinations. The Black Course has hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009, The Barclays in 2012 and 2016, the PGA Championship in 2019, and the 2025 Ryder Cup, placing Bethpage among the most prestigious golf venues in the country.
