Hempstead Town Supervisor Anthony J. Santino has announced that he is seeking volunteers to join the town’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. Now entering its 43rd year, the VITA Program is sponsored by the Town of Hempstead’s Department of Senior Enrichment under the

auspices of the Internal Revenue Service. “Over the past four decades, our VITA volunteers have served thousands of senior citizens and residents with limited incomes during tax filing season,” said Santino. “We are currently recruiting individuals who are good with numbers and have previous experience

with preparing federal and state income tax returns to join our outstanding team of VITA volunteers.” Hempstead Town’s Department of Senior Enrichment will train recruits and assign them to work at town senior centers and local libraries during the upcoming tax preparation season (February, March and

The Long Island Radio & Television Historical Society is proud to announce the inauguration of their newly designed and updated website. The website can be accessed at: https://lirtvhs. org/ OUR HISTORY In 1995, it became apparent that the FAA radio station, once the site of the

WWI historic Telefunken radio station, was to be abandoned and destroyed. A movement to save the property was undertaken by Constance Currie and the Sayville Historical Society. Although there was a lot of support, the attempt unfortunately failed after a massive fire destroyed the remaining buildings. What was left

was bulldozed along with the antenna fields. As a result, Constance Currie and Ralph Williams, a renowned radio historian, collector of Atwater Kent radios, and author, encouraged the people who had come together to save the Telefunken site, to create a historical society that would keep the history of Long Island radio alive.

Information Night Seaford High School held its first Fall Parent/ Athlete Information Night on September 5th for all Varsity and Junior athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians. Michael Spreckels, Director of Athletics, led the assembly and challenged everyone

to demonstrate “Seaford Pride” on and off the field. Mr. Speckels reviewed athletic policies and procedures and introduced new staff. Guest speaker Seth Tierney, Hofstra University Lacrosse Coach, told the athletes to always put forth their
