on dinosaurs and in outer space with the slogan “Dream Big, Be Kind” is being meticulously painted by Seaford native and longtime artist Cliff Miller. Working with the Harbor PTA, the mural is one of two being planned for the

main hallway to pump life into the original greentiled walls of the 53 yearold school building. “A lot of thought went behind this mural and how it should appeal to kids,” Miller said. “We want it to welcome and inspire

Viking emblem that adorns the front of Seaford High School and a jungle scene centered on the magic of reading in the Manor Elementary School allpurpose room. “The Manor mural was done about eight years ago while school was in session,” Miller recalled. “The students were fascinated by it and would ask me questions during their lunchtime. They wanted me to sign their lunchboxes and wrote letters to me.” The Harbor mural will take about eight weeks to complete, so it is expected that Miller will spark the same fascination and curiosity with students there as well.

Miller’s artwork is also featured in Sequa Deli, the Seaford Public Library and the Historical Society, where he teaches oil painting. Residents can join his next class, beginning September 14th at 7 p.m. by contacting the Historical Society or Miller at cliffmillerart@gmail. com. In addition to his artistic career, Miller is also wellknown in the community for his musical talent. He plays the guitar, piano and mandolin and writes songs. He also wrote and illustrated an adventurethemed book, which he hopes to get published, called “The Willicans,” based on bedtime stories he told his children.

The lottery will select 144 golfers and 20 alternates. Winners will be posted on the town web site at TOH. LI and players will also be notified by phone and e-mail. Golfers may register as a single, or as part of a twosome, threesome or foursome. Selected golfers will be required to make payment in the form of check or money order to the Town of Hempstead within five days of notification. Cliff “Kip” Johannesen, who at one point was paralyzed and in a wheelchair but now is able to walk with the assistance of canes is offering services as a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain and P.A.D.I Master Diver to people with disabilities in the Long Island/NYC Area. With his boat, docked in Lindenhurst, he is volunteering his spare time to take children with disabilities (along with a parent or guardian) or disabled veterans on fishing, snorkeling and boating trips in the Great South Bay.
