The Charity of The Month for February is: Girls on the Run of Long Island www.gotrlongisland.org Girls on the Run is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. They run a physical activity-based positive youth development program that is designed to enhance girls’ social, psychological and physical skills and behaviors to help them successfully navigate life experiences.
This organization also runs a program called Heart & Sole. This is their middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. Heart & Sole takes girls as a whole into consideration body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection - in a positive and structured space, where participants can learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy and stregthen connections. Running is incorporated into each lesson to encourage physical wellness. These girls also prepare for a celebratory 5K event at the end of the program. The upcoming spring season
