The Town of Oyster Bay’s Department of Community and Youth offer exciting new workshops for the Fall 2014 season, and registration for all applications is open from now until September 22nd, Councilwoman Michele M. Johnson announced. A variety of courses for adults and children will be offered at the North Massapequa Community

Not So Fast By: Jamie Lynn Ryan The autumn season is upon us. Well, at least in terms of retail, it is. As far as I’m concerned, there is still nearly one entire month of potential beach weather before us. No matter how many pairs of cute boots I see in stores, or autumn-scented candles and pumpkin-flavored everything, I remain in denial. Not yet. Maybe in a week or two…or three. What’s the big rush? For a region that happens to be blessed with all four seasons, we sure don’t take too much time to appreciate them.
We rush everything, much like our days, our weeks, our lives…and for what? To start complaining about the chilly weather and the inevitable snowstorms looming? As long as I can get away with wearing flip-flops, and running outside with no jacket on, you can bet I will. Longer days mean more time to do things too, instead of rushing home from work to hibernate on the couch in front of the TV. Although, I must say, I am looking forward to my shows returning for the Fall season. That said, the one regret I have about summer

were adamant about trying to remain positive and live life one day at a time. Keeping a positive attitude was ultimately important, because attitude is half the battle! His parents passed this energy onto Nicholas and always motivated him to smile, since smiling is contagious, and when he smiles, we all smile. Early in Nicholas diagnosis, Team Pedone came up with a slogan for fundraising ideas. This slogan was created due to Nicholas’ smile, personality, endurance and love for life. As part of an ongoing commitment to ensure the safety of water supply operations in all member districts, the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners’ Association (NSWCA) attended the recent Hurricane Seminar held at the Morrelly Homeland Security Center, Bethpage, NY. New York Mets players Zack Wheeler and Travis d’Arnaud brightened the day for some patients at Cohen Children’s Medical Center this week, posing for pictures and handing out gifts and autographs.
The players hung out with the kids in the afternoon, playing some video games and answering questions. They also found the time to make the rounds, stopping by bedsides to spread some
cheer. Mr. Met also joined the tour and was a big hit with the children, who peppered him with questions about everything from his four-fingered hand to the whereabouts of the missing Mrs. Met.

The seminar information indicated that the hurricane prediction for 2014 is anywhere from eight to thirteen named storms. The relative severity of the respective storms is unknown.” “NOAA will soon have a
new map on their website that will show predicted storm surge and water levels from the ground up,” Commissioner Bader stated. “This will help us to prepare residents living in vulnerable areas.” NSWCA President Howard Abbondondelo, Commissioner from Albertson Water District added, “As elected Commissioners, it is incumbent upon us to continually safeguard our constituents and the water delivery systems that enable them to go about their daily lives.
