Oyster Bay Town community park pools will officially open for the 2013 summer season on Saturday, June 22nd, it was announced by Town Councilman Joe Muscarella. “Pools are enjoyed by people of all ages,” Councilman Muscarella said. “Going for a swim is one of the most enjoyable activities of the summertime, and we have spectacular facilities in the Town.” The Councilman said that Town of Oyster Bay Community Park Pools, located at Bethpage, Marjorie R. Summer “To Do” List So Summer is officially here… now what? Well, for me, in addition to all the normal seasonal stuff most of us look forward to, I am eagerly anticipating catching up on some quality TV time. Rerun Season, as I like to refer to it, is prime time to make use of that “On Demand” feature and settle in for some marathon viewing sessions, don’t you think? Remember all those cable TV series your friends keep talking about that you’ve never had the chance to check out? Well, plop down on the couch, put your feet up and start with Episode I, Season I. Watch a few episodes a night, every night, and you’ll be all caught up before you know it.

Oh, and let’s not forget about that pile of magazines from those subscriptions you just can’t bear to cancel. How many of you have accumulated quite the collection? What’s that, a Winter Music Preview on the cover? Only slightly outdated… take that cup of tea outside and start turning those pages. If you’re feeling especially ambitious, you can always attempt to crack open an actual book, too. I know, I know, such a thing is foreign to most people in this day and age. But remember how much you used to love it? How easy it was to become engrossed in chapter after chapter of a good novel to the point that you never wanted to put it down? Well, summer is the perfect opportunity to rediscover that passion.

Of course, beautiful beach weather always beckons, but the good part is that books and magazines travel easily enough. And with the technology of today, so can TV shows, actually. Take your tablet along for the ride, stick your toes in the sand, and insert a beach chair in place of that couch. You’re all set! Just think, an entire month to reintegrate yourself into the culture that you’ve been missing out on these last few months (or years, as the case may be). Time to do something for yourself, wouldn’t you say? Don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of time to anguish over all the normal daily obligations. But that “you” time… that’s something you can never get back. Priceless.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, registration takes place from noon until 7 p.m. and beginning July 2nd, registration will take place during the pools hours of operation. A copy of the resident’s general tax bill with section, block and lot number is required. A birth certificate is required for children 16 years of age and younger. “Tappen Pool is also opening for the season on June 22nd and will be open through Labor Day,” added Councilman Muscarella. Between June 22nd and June 28th, Tappen Pool will be open from 9 a.m. until dusk on Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. until dusk on Sunday. Between June 29th and August 2nd, the pool will be open noon to dusk on weekdays, 9.a.m. to dusk on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to dusk on Sundays. From August 3rd through September 1st, the hours of operation are 9 a.m. to dusk on Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to dusk on Sunday. On Labor Day, which is also closing day, the pool will be open from 9.a.m. until 6 p.m. “The 2013 Summer Program was recently mailed to Town of Oyster Bay households,” said Councilman Muscarella. “That guide contains information about joining a pool, membership fees and registering for swimming lessons.
