The Board of Education of the North Babylon School District accepted Stack’s Auto Service & Tires’ donation of a used car to North Babylon High School. The car, which is valued at $3,500, will be used for demonstration and instruction in Mr. James Haley’s Car Care class at North Babylon High

Students from Saints Cyril and Methodius Elementary School in Deer Park collected pantry items so important to families in need, especially at this time of year, when everyone wants to be able to celebrate the holidays as best they can, during a time when gratitude is so crucial to finding everyday happiness. SSCM’s fourth and fifth grade students gave of their time and talent, as well as their collected food
items, as they prepared and ran the 8:30 a.m. Mass at SSCM, the Wednesday before Thanksgivinggifting community members with their song, lectoring, and more. The food items contributed throughout the school will go to SSCM’s Parish Outreach Program. Local parishes and their volunteers are the lifeblood of parish social ministry on Long Island. Across Long Island, combined parish ministries

Educational lessons and community service projects centered on the Thanksgiving holiday at Babylon Elementary School this November. Students and staff worked to make the holiday a bright one for
others by contributing to the school’s annual food drive. As a result of the building’s overwhelming generosity, several boxes were filled to the brim with nonperishable items and delivered to local families in need just before the
holiday. Second-grade students fashioned Pilgrim and Native American hats and performed during their annual Thanksgiving feast. The event included several Thanksgiving-inspired songs and a healthy feast.

Student Spotlight DISNEY WORLD Walt Disney World is the place to be for a vacation, or a celebration. Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is a wonderful place comprised of four spectacular theme parks. The names are Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Magic Kingdom is a magical place. There is so much to do. You can go visit the castle or stop and see the parade on Main Street. You can even take pictures with Disney princesses and characters. Next, we have Animal Kingdom where you can take a safari ride to see all of the animals from A-Z.

Then there is Hollywood Studios - it is my personal favorite. It is filled with music, love and happiness. If you want to see a great play or musical, the place to go is Hollywood Studios. Lastly is Epcot. Epcot is all about the future. The ride Spaceship Earth (also known as the big Epcot ball) is where you learn about the past and you can invent your own future. The parks are nice, but there is much more to Disney than the parks. There is horseback riding at Circle D Ranch. Then you have surrey bike riding at Saratoga Springs. You can also do arts and crafts at Saratoga Springs.
There are also horse drawn carriage rides at Port Orleans. Walt Disney also has special cuisine. Their food has real quality. One of the restaurants at Walt Disney world is the California Grill at the contemporary resort. At the California Grill, they serve food from all over the world. My favorite is their sushi. Then there is Bama’s at Animal Kingdom Lodge. At Bama’s, they serve some African meals and some American meals. So go visit Walt Disney World because Disney Vacations + Family = Excitement and Magical Memories

Stars For Vets In celebration of Veterans Day, each West Babylon student and staff member at Santapogue Elementary School in West Babylon received a large paper star
on which to place a photo and write information about a veteran. The result was an impressive Veterans’ Wall of Honor, located in the

Personality Of The Month
The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) has named Suffolk Community College Men’s Soccer Coach Frank Vertullo as its Personality of the
Month for December. Vertullo, 34, of Babylon, coached the Suffolk County Community College Sharks to the National Championship last month, a repeat of his
2010 accomplishment. Entering the junior college Final Four as the fourth seed with a 19-4-0 record, Suffolk played number one seed and host, Herkimer Community College, on November 14th. A twelfth minute goal by Romario Hulea was all the Sharks needed to avenge their 2013 loss to Herkimer in the National Championship game and advance, 1-0. The Sharks continued as underdogs in the national title game on November 16 against number two seed Richland Community College from Texas, who previously defeated them 5-2 in September.
Joseph Lopez and Hulea scored for the Sharks and goalkeeper Jon Zapata, named championship game MVP, made six saves in the second half to preserve Suffolk’s 2-1 lead and secure the championship title. Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Shaun L. McKay said Coach Vertullo is an inspiration not only to student athletes, but to the College Community. “Coach Vertullo’s leadership, inspiration, and ability to motivate has helped deliver two National Championships to Suffolk County Community College by our very talented and accomplished student-
athletes,” McKay said. “Congratulations,” he added. “There are so many factors that are involved in winning multiple national championships. Consistency, recruiting, experience and creating a family atmosphere within the program are the key components. The success of the program has also helped in the recruiting process of potential student-athletes wanting to leave home to play at Suffolk even without the convenience of campus housing. However, just bringing in talent is not always good enough, ” Vertullo, who was named Coach of the Tournament, said.
“My student-athletes have always given me 100% and have done everything I’ve asked of them. The family atmosphere we create makes the studentathletes want to perform for one another and they hold each other accountable. They also draw on my experiences from coaching in eight Final Fours in the last 14 years. Each year, we pull positives and negatives out of each Final Four experience and bring that into the next year’s tournament to further be prepared and to put the student-athletes and the program in the
