Each year, this project strives to create a global, uniform visual public statement about peace. Celebrating the Seasons By: Jamie Lynn Ryan

Welcome to October, the month when thoughts turn from late summer sunshine and seaside walks to apples and pumpkins and all things autumn. ‘Tis the season before THE season of holiday madness, that lull when – aside from Halloween – one can simply enjoy the crisp air while taking a hay ride with friends, navigating a corn maze or picking up some local produce at the neighborhood farm stand. Personally, I am a girl of summer, basking in

the glow of sunsets and days spent at the beach, of aimless wandering along our many shores in search of hidden oases of beauty. But autumn has its own special unique charm as well. There is nothing quite like feeling the crunch of freshly fallen leaves under your boots, of cuddling up with a good book and some hot apple cider donuts. This is the time of respite, that period of transition from long golden days to chilly evenings, the calm before the storm of feasting with family, of decking the halls

and shopping ‘til your heart’s content, for loved ones and yourself. Come November, its full-steam ahead, and the novelty of the season tends to wear off a bit amidst the chaos. Now is the time to treasure. So take October, enjoy. Take in the foliage, absorb your surroundings, snap a few photos for your autumn album, catch up with old friends over coffee – do whatever it is to soak in the season while it’s here. Because, before we know it, we’ll be on to the next one.

and members came to school once a week over the summer to harvest the vegetables, weed and maintain the raised beds. Most of the produce from their garden is donated to the local food pantry and students also get to take fresh vegetables home.

BACCA is proud to be honoring Patrick Donohue, this year’s recipient of the Senator Owen H. Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award.

All he could think of was how the other Veterans were dealing with reintegration. Project9line was started for that purpose,

As a result, these musicians will showcase their talents during the NYSSMA AllState Music Conference and the SCMEA AllCounty Music Festival, respectively. Attaining such honors is based on a student’s performance at the

NYSSMA solo and ensemble festival along with a teacher recommendation. “Both myself and the district are very proud of all that these students have accomplished,” said Angela Turk, director of fine arts and music. “They have been working very hard toward their goals, and it definitely shows in both their musical capabilities and work ethic.”
