Historical Timeline
On Friday June 16th, “Boots and Saddles” productions will be came to Our Lady of Lourdes School in West Islip to showcase a historical timeline for the students. There was various “stations” set up with live historians including Mounted Cavalry, Civil War and Revolutionary War, Medieval Knight in
Armor (15th century), U.S. Army Chaplain (Civil War), Theodore Roosevelt (Spanish American War), 18th Century Games and Culture (18th century 1760-1790) and a Group Demonstration for entire School, Cavalry demo with sabers. Each station presented the life and times of the period with the living
Two Eagles Honored On Thursday, June 15th, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony for Troop 179’s Antony Peters and Colson Meadows. The ceremony took place at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Islip and was attended by the new Eagle Scouts’ parents,
elected officials and Troop 179’s leadership. The ceremony focused on the efforts made by Peters and Meadows as well as their family, friends and fellow scouts to help the candidates achieve this honor. They were presented proclamations for their achievements by Legislator McCaffrey,
Senator Phil Boyle’s office and the Town of Babylon. “I was particularly glad to be at this Eagle Scout Ceremony because of the great candidates that come from Troop 179,” said Legislator McCaffrey. “It is unusual that two scouts would receive this honor

Take Heart With Tea An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but a recent study found drinking tea might keep the cardiologist at bay.
The USDA reported that men and women who drank black tea for three weeks reduced their total and bad
cholesterol (LDL) levels by an average of 7.5 percent. Researchers concluded that drinking tea may reduce the
risk of coronary heart disease. Antioxidants called flavonoids, found in both green and black teas, are thought to
be potent weapons in the fight against heart disease. That news may be especially important
for women, given that heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined including breast cancer.
