There is just something About this time of the year. From the rain To the laughing rainbows, The sky is always so bright, Just like neon lights. So open, so free, I laugh all day.
Laughter fills the air, The scent of a barbecue everywhere. The sizzling sound becomes very familiar. Leaves of trees become vibrantly green as they blow in the wind.
Spring is so warm, The lemonade is always there to cool me down. It’s super, sweet and sour. Spring always makes me so happy, Even when it rains. I sing and dance in the rain, Almost like I’m insane. There is just something about spring.
Ice cream trucks coming down street. Kids hurry to finish their ice cream treats before it melts. Having picnics in the backyard, Watching stars at night, Waiting for sunrise, to do it all again.
I play outside all the time And make raps out of rhymes. We don’t have to wear big fluffy coats, scarves or hats. Now we can wear shorts, tank tops and flip-flops. There is just something about spring.

which our media consumption has changed as a society through the years. In the last decade alone, from the time I graduated from C.W. Post’s Journalism program, social media has quite literally taken over – for better or worse. What was once perfectly satisfactory to read in the next morning’s paper now must be transmitted instantly across a host of media, in some cases, at the expense of accuracy. While this isn’t exactly a unique realization, it was brought to new light at the recent Society of Professional Journalists Region I Conference that I attended last week at Hofstra University. Again and again,

It’s a tall order, one that, just 10 years ago, wasn’t quite so relevant. All it takes is the vast landscape of the Internet to take a tidbit to the masses via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, whatever; and, before you know it, you have a viral sensation that, just minutes prior, was

CAREER DAY - Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer recently spoke to fifth grade students from Mrs. Parinello and Ms. DeLuca’s classes at Martin Luther King Elementary School in Wyandanch as part of their career day. Supervisor Schaffer spoke Babylon Town about his duties as Town Supervisor and taught the students about the importance of Supervisor Rich Schaffer public service. At the end of class, the students took an oath to stay involved in their recently joined with community as special assistants to Supervisor Schaffer. Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma to rename a portion of Strathmore Drive in North Babylon in the memory of Lee Tatti, who was an active member of the community for over forty years. Joining Town officials at the street renaming ceremony were members of Lee’s family, friends and community leaders. A 45-year resident of North Babylon with her late husband John, Lee MATH-A-THON - Students at Marion G. Vedder Elementary School, located in Tatti was an active member North Babylon, participated in the St. Jude Math-A-Thon. Mrs. Kreuscher, a First of the following PTA Grade teacher, was the coordinator who ran the event. There were over 50 children units: Phelps Lane, Robert who took part in completing challenging math problems, getting sponsors, and Moses, North Babylon collecting donations. The children raised $6,740 and all the money goes to St. Jude to High School, SEPTA, and help children who are battling cancer. All their help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for PTA Council. In addition to her work with the North making a difference!
Babylon PTA, Lee was an active member of the North Babylon’s Booster Club, the Performing Arts Support Association (PASA), the North Babylon Touchdown Club, a Columbiette in the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Babylon Homemakers group. Lee was the loving mother of four children, Delice, Anthony, Maria and Lisa. She was also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, DeliceNicole, Michael, John, Alyssa, Julia and Isabella. Since her passing in May 2004, Lee has continued to be remembered. In April 2005, the North Babylon Teachers’ Organization gave Lee the “Friendship of Education Award” posthumously. They recognized Lee as having the longest tenure in North
Babylon history as an active PTA member. The PTA Council has established an annual award called the “Lee Tatti Volunteer of the Year Award” given to a member in our community that emulates Lee and her dedication to the community. PASA has created the “Lee Tatti PASA Memorial Scholarship”, to be given each year to a student who gives to the community. On June 7, 2005 the Board of Education, Central Administration, and the North Babylon High School Administration presented the Tatti Family with a special dedication ceremony naming the North Babylon High School Auditorium, “The Lee Tatti Auditorium.”
