Musicians Excel and Esther Duclair were selected for the LISFA Secondary Festival. In addition, members of the North Babylon High School Chamber Music Society auditioned and were accepted to the annual LISFA Chamber Music Festival. Participating students were Brian Nelson, Stephanie Reis, Bayinah Agant, Joseph Shepherd, Emily Guerra, Isabella Soto, Jaime Crafa, Kirsten Keane, Giselle Ust,

Emily Thiele, Junianna Borgia, Jewel Brown and Carolyn Consentino. These students joined chamber music groups from Suffolk County for a day of instruction and performance with members of the Bryant Park String Ensemble. The North Babylon students worked in three different groups, with each group playing a movement of W.A. Mozart’s String Quartet #4 in C Major.

Being the Change

Aligned with the North Babylon School District’s goal to promote social and emotional learning across its schools, the high school hosted Challenge Day on March 6th-9th. The program, themed “Be the Change,” included a variety of interactive

character educationrelated activities that tasked students and staff with working together on trust, connection and compassion. Participants learned how to identify their emotions, those of others and understand the cause for specific feelings.

They also discovered ways to guide their mindset, focus on self-management, social awareness and good decision-making.

Boating Course for new and seasoned boaters. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a New York State safe boating certificate, which meets all state educational requirements for operating
