Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer was recently joined by Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilman Tom Donnelly and Receiver of Taxes Corinne DiSomma for the dedication of Marge Steiger Memorial Street in West Babylon, located on the corner of 2nd Street and 12th Avenue. Margaret “Marge”

Steiger lived on Second Street for over 55 years and was an active member of the community, having been heavily involved in Boy Scout Troop 399 following the birth of her first grandchild in 1986. Marge was also an employee of the West Babylon School District for over 45 years, serving as a clerk typist and

Fifth-graders at Parliament Place Elementary School in the North Babylon School District completed their 12-week study about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Each week, students reviewed and discussed

the different components of the document and were able to apply what they learned to current national events. They also participated in several debates about human rights infractions. After reading “Teaching Naples to Read, Write,
