Angels of Long Island is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization ran by Debbie and Brittany, a mother and daughter duo. They turned a small Facebook group into a fast growing non-profit organization that helps countless Long Islanders in need. Their non-profit continued to grow so much so that Debbie and Brittany decided to open up a storefront location in Patchogue called Angels of Long Island. Their slogan Neighbors helping neighbors is a great reflection of what this thriving thrift store/boutique/donation center does. “We work so hard to keep our store clean and beautiful so that all of our customers who walk through our doors feels a sense of dignity and respect shopping at our store,” says Debbie. “We are not like your average thrift store! We carry designer brands and offer a unique experience.” The mission of this non-profit is to assist and advocate for people in our Long Island community who are in need of assistance. Their goal is to empower people to overcome poverty and live prosperous lives. They truly provide a wide range of services and goods to people in crisis, however anyone can come shop at their Patchogue store, which has recently expanded, located at 350-23 East Main Street. The store is proud to take many types of donations. They now accept bottle and can donations every Monday-Saturday from 9AM-3PM, where you can simply pull up curbside, pop your trunk and a team member will take the donations for you. All bottles and cans must be marked New York state deposit and no broken glass bottles are able to be accepted. Please remember to separate glass items from plastic items before you donate them. Pickups at your residence are available for large quantities of recyclables. Additionally, they accept other donations, such as new or gently used clothing, housewares, home decor and

furniture. Angels of Long Island will be closing next month and re-opening March 1st. If you are interested in donating to or volunteering with this organizaiton, you can do so until the last day of January or when they reopen in March. Below are images of their not-so-average store, where you can ﬁnd countless items for sale. All proceeds from this store go directly to help Long Island residents in need. Millie is a mixed breed dog overseas that was rescued by Sergeant Tiann. The soldier has created a long lasting relationship with the dog and is desperate to bring her back to the U.S. with her, now that her deployment is over. She has reached out to Guardians of Rescue for their assistance in helping to make the relocation happen, and they need donations from the public in order to make it happen. “We could make this a reality, but we need financial support from the community,” explains Robert Misseri, president of Guardians of Rescue, an animal rescue organization. “There are a lot of logistics and people that have to come together to make this happen and it’s expensive. Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar recently announced the official launch of its 5th annual Above and “BEE”yond Teacher Essay Contest, which recognizes top teachers – as nominated by their students – by rewarding them with a sponsorship check and end-of-year class party. Applebee’s will award two deserving teachers, one in Nassau County and one in Suffolk County, with a $500 sponsorship check to use toward their classroom for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year, along with an end-of-year party for their current class*!
