Oyster Bay Town Councilman Lou Imbroto invites seniors to participate in the Town of Oyster Bay Senior Karaoke Program, held at various community centers throughout the Town. The popular program, launched last year, saw such popularity it has returned bigger and better for residents who are interested in showing off their vocal talents. “We’re calling all Town seniors who love to sing! This fun Karaoke program will give you the opportunity to perform your favorite songs, from the tunes of Sinatra

and Greatest Hits of the ‘80s to Today’s Top Songs, all in a social, welcoming environment,” Councilman Imbroto said. “Join us to make new friends and perhaps even discover a new favorite song.” The Senior Karaoke Program takes place on the following schedule: • Mondays – 1 p.m. at the North Massapequa Community Center, 214 N. Albany Avenue in Massapequa (generally held at Marjorie Post Center, temporarily relocated) • Wednesdays – 1 p.m. at the Glen Head

Community Center, 200 Glen Head Rd, Glen Head • Thursdays – 11 a.m. at the Hicksville Community Center, 28 W Carl St in Hicksville Great singing skills aren’t necessary to join the fun; residents are welcome to attend without performing. Major Fundraiser And Holiday Luncheon Was Held By The Woman’s Club Of Massapequa The annual holiday luncheon and fundraiser were held recently at the Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club, Amityville, N.Y. Music was provided by the talented D.J. John Walters, whose lively tunes had us dancing! The luncheon, and many beautiful gift baskets, raffles and prizes, were arranged by the Child Welfare Dept.’s Chair JoAnn Hundertmark and Co-Chair Antionette LaBonte, along with

committee members. Our success would not have been possible without the support of all those who participated so generously: members guests and numerous sponsors! The Child Welfare Department and the Woman’s Club of Massapequa work hand in hand. We are an Educational, Civic and Philanthropic Organization. All proceeds go to assist needy families

Town Seniors Invited To Participate In Karaoke Program

Artists Have A New Creative Outlet on drawings, paintings and school beautification projects. All projects are based on the seasons and holidays, so every group has had unique assignments. Ms. Sabia said that each session focuses on different artistic techniques along with the use of different materials. The first group, which had its sessions in the fall, did tracings of leaves and drawings of pumpkins, in which students explored value and coloring blending with oil pastels. Since the third group is meeting in

January, they did a winter hat painting with watercolor crayons, and used white paint on black or blue paper to showcase their favorite activities in the snow. Most recently, they helped decorate the school for Valentine’s Day by making paper chains with pink and red hearts. In February, Ms. Sabia will open up the art club to second graders, which will also be done in three groups as 50 students are on the list. “It’s great to have so many students excited about art,” Ms. Sabia said.

The Art Club at McKenna Elementary School in the Massapequa School District not only gives students a chance to develop their talent, but it also allows them to make a difference through art. Donating Blood Donating blood is a selfless act that saves lives. Blood donors may recognize the vital role they play in patient care, but many may wonder if it’s safe to donate blood during the pandemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is safe for anyone who is well to donate blood. That even goes for people who are social distancing due to COVID-19. The CDC has recommended various safety measures to ensure the safety of donors and donation center volunteers and staff members. Such measures include spacing

donor chairs at least six feet apart and encouraging donors to make donation appointments ahead of time. Appointments can ensure donors are not spending more time at the donation center than is absolutely necessary, reducing the likelihood that they have contact with someone who may have COVID-19 but not know it. The Red Cross notes it has instituted additional safety protocols, such as laundering blankets used by donors after each use and requiring all donors and staff to wear face coverings or masks during the donation process.

“Is it a good time to sell?” This is a question I get asked all the time and “YES, IT IS STILL A GREAT TIME TO SELL.” There is an insufficient amount of homes for sale to meet the demands of the many qualified buyers looking for homes in our area. I have buyers anxiously awaiting for homes to come on the market. The rise of interest rates over the past year have not impacted the prices of homes being sold. Interest rates are stabilizing and are forecasted to fall in the latter part of the year. No one knows what the future holds, but currently, it remains a great time to sell.
