Another Organization You Can Get Involved With: Babylon Lions Club www.babylonlions.com The Babylon Lions Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been serving their community for over 80 years! They are holding their 25th Annual Beer, Wine, Food and Dessert Expo on Thursday, November 7th at The Piermont from 7:30PM-10:30PM. This is their biggest event of the year, typically attracting between 650-700 guests. There will be a tempting selection of fine local wines, imported and rare brews, delicious food and luscious desserts from some of Long Island’s finest retaurants and caterers. The best part is that every bit of money raised is donated to charity. All are welcome to attend this incredible celebration, which will truly make a difference in the community. The Cemetery of Lost Souls is a grass roots organization that gears up each year to create an elaborate Haunted House on the founder’s property, located at 350 Broadway in Massapequa Park. Every bit of money raised through their annual e v e n t (admission, donations, sponsorships, etc.) is given to a chosen charity. They have raised a lot of money over the years in donations alone and have donated to charities such as Autism Speaks, The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Long Island Cares. This year they will bring the community a new interactive experience with the second Lost Souls Walk-Thru haunt, new rooms, new scares and new thrills! The event will run on October 18-19, 25-26, 31 and November 1-2 from 7PM-11:30PM. The chosen charity for 2019 is Melissa’s Wish, a non-profit organization founded with the purpose of providing short term, non-medical financial aid in the form of a grant to caregivers who are assisting those afflicted with a serious illness, injury or end of life event. You can become involved with the Cemetery of Lost Souls in many ways. They are actively looking for volunteers in the following areas: Digital Marketing (to help with social media marketing), Scare Team Members (actors to help put on the event), Security (watching over the event and making sure all guests are safe), and Bake Team Members (to donate baked

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), together with the Town of Babylon, will be hosting an “Alzheimer’s Walk in the Park” on Saturday, October 19th, from 10 am to 1 pm (rain date October 20th). The event will take place at the AFA-Town of Babylon Respite Care Relief Park (200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst), which serves residents with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Proceeds raised from the event will support Long Islanders living with Alzheimer’s disease. Individuals of all ages are invited to take part in the walk to raise Alzheimer’s awareness and support local families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The family-friendly event will also feature health and wellness activities, music, entertainment, children’s activities and refreshments. Free, confidential memory and hearing screenings will also be offered.

Babylon Village Arts Council Fall has arrived and with that Babylon Village Aerts Council, a local not-for profit organization, will present an array of free cultural events tool Long Island residents during October. In partnership with the Friends of the Babylon Library , BVAC will present its first Sunday Classical Music event featuring David Glukh with Gennady Gutkin on Sunday, October 20 at the Babylon Library located at 24 South Carll Ave. David Glukh will present an afternoon of Classical music performed on his signature piccolo trumpet accompanied by Gennady Gutkin on
piano. Since his graduation from The Juilliard School in May 2000, David Glukh has per- formed many solo and ensemble engagements throughout the world. David Glukh was born in Moscow in 1975 where he attended the Gnessin School of MusicI. In1990 he immigrated to Israel where he spent the following three years in the Thelma Yellin High School for the Arts. He later served in the Army Orchestra from 1993 to 1996. The music begins at 2. The Babylon Little League will hold its 5th annual Hits for Hunger event with the boys and girls of the league, ages 5-12, on Friday, October 18, from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Locust Ave. fields to raise funds and food donations for the local community. The event will be a fun family night out for a good cause with all funds and donations supporting local families in need. “The Babylon Little League has been an integral part of the Babylon community for more than 65 years,” said Colin Coffey, president of the Babylon Little League. “We
teach more than baseball and softball to the children as we look to reinforce lifelong skills such as teamwork, citizenship and community involvement. Hits for Hunger is a great example of an event that does just that as we teach our young players about the importance of giving back to our community.” For the Hits for Hunger event, Babylon Little League boys and girls will receive instruction from professional and league coaches. Parents and community members alike are welcome to come down to encourage the children and drop off non-
perishable food donations. In addition, we will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs for $1 each, with profits going directly to families in need. Babylon Little League players interested in participating can register through SI Play. In addition, Babylon Little League registration for baseball and softball for spring 2020 opens on October 15 and interested families can learn more at Hits for Hunger, at our booth at the Babylon Fall Festival on October 19, or online at www. babylonlittleleague.org
