The Charity of the Month for September is: The Twilight Wish Foundation www.twilightwish.org

The Twilight Wish Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and enrich the lives of seniors through intergenerational Twilight Wish celebrations. Since the foundation’s founding in 2003, their goal has been to make the world a nicer place to age, one Twilight Wish at a time. When a Twilight Wish is granted, a senior is recognized for all that they have done throughout their lives and is shown that they are appreciated and valued. This organization truly makes a difference in the lives of seniors nationwide. Often the elderly gets overlooked or they simply can’t seem to achieve their goals on their own. This is where Twilight Wish steps in. Judy was a local wish recipient from Kings Park. Her wish was to visit her mother in Rochester and take her to her favorite restaurant. Judy received round-trip plane tickets, a hotel stay, a car rental and a gift certificate to her mother’s favorite restaurant from this foundation! The process of applying to be a wish recipient is fairly simple. You can visit their website at www. twilightwish.org and click on the “Wishes” tab followed by “Request A Twilight Wish”. From here you can start the process. Applications can be submitted for yourself or on behalf of someone else. The foundation has a committee that meets on a monthly basis to review new applications and they determine the eligibility of the applicants and wish requests. If approved, the foundation will grant the wish as funding and resources become available (if they are not already available).

If you believe you are eligible to receive a wish, apply today! Twilight Wish is completely supported by grants, individual donations and sponsorships from corporations. You can make an “Impact Investment” in your community by being a Twilight Wish Sponsor. Street Dedication Assemblyman Mike LiPetri (R-Massapequa) recently joined colleagues in government and leaders in the community in honoring local Vietnam veteran hero, Private First Class Salvatore Joseph Armato for a street renaming dedication ceremony on the very block he once called home. Private First Class Salvatore Joseph Armato was tragically killed in action while serving

in the Vietnam War on November 30, 1970. A graduate of West Babylon High School, PFC Armato grew up on Manhattan Avenue.
