JFK’S BLANKET DRIVE HELPS LOCAL PETS IN NEED - The fourth and fifth grade student council members at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in the West Babylon School District recently ran a blanket/towel drive for local pets in need. All the items collected will be donated to the Babylon Animal Shelter. The students collected gently used towels and blankets from March 28 through April 6. On April 6, the student council members gathered in the cafeteria to pack up the items. The Farm is one of the earliest certified organic farms on Long Island and the goal of his project was to give them a place to store some of the larger equipment used to work the farm. Troop 399 is a Boy Scout Troop based in North Babylon, NY, and a member of the Sagtikos District
of BSA’s Suffolk County Council. It is sponsored by the North Babylon Lions Club. Jimmy White of North Babylon, received his Eagle Scout Award in a Court of Honor ceremony held on March 19, 2022, in North Babylon, NY. Jimmy’s scouting career began when he joined Cub Scout Pack 112 in 2010. He then joined Troop 399 where he has proudly served as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Den Chief, and Patrol Leader for his troop. He has earned twenty-six merit badges during his time in Boy Scouts and many additional awards including the Parvuli Dei and Light of Christ religious Awards. He is Troop 399’s 67th Eagle Scout. The Court of Honor signifies a Boy Scout’s promotion to Eagle Scout. Becoming an Eagle Scout is achieved through hard work, with the recipient required to have earned at least twenty-one merit badges, demonstrated leadership and had a positive impact on society. Scouts are required to complete a project that benefits their community before ascending into the ranks of Eagle Scout. Jimmy completed his Eagle Scout Project on 11/29/2021. His project was to build a large shed for the Homecoming Farm located

Student Artists Featured In State Exhibit The North Babylon Union Free School District congratulates high school seniors Marc DiVito and Jasmine Weston for having their work selected in the 32nd annual NYSATA Legislative Exhibit 2022 Virtual Edition. The exhibit will be available for viewing through December 2022
on the NYSATA website. In partnership with New York State United Teachers, this annual tradition showcases the artistic achievements of students in grades k-12 from across the state. Marc was selected for his artwork titled, “A Leviathans Day Out,” and Jasmine was chosen for her
artwork titled, “Forever Alone.” The district applauds both Marc and Jasmine and is proud of the dedication they contribute to their craft. Their artwork can be viewed at, www.nysata.org/ legislative-exhibit.

On the evening of Saturday, April 2nd, the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company held its 86th Annual Installation Dinner and awards ceremony. Several area elected officials attended the installation, including Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffrey, Suffolk County Legislator, Deer Park Fire Department member Tom
Donnelly, Town of Babylon Councilman, North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company Member Terence McSweeney and Town of Babylon Councilman DuWayne Gregory. At the dinner, ExCaptain John Gardner was recognized for a whopping 65 years of service to the Fire Company! As pointed out by Legislator Donnelly, Dwight D. Eisenhower was
President of the United States when John applied to be a firefighter! Ex-Chief John Caroleo was also presented with the Chief Francis Noonan Award for his dedicated service to the Fire Company even following his term as Chief including his roles as a Director of the junior firefighter brigade, drill team, and many other Ex-Chief Caroleo poses with his awards and the elected officials present following committees. his award presentation.
