Eighth grade students in Mrs. Marchionna’s computer art class at Robert Moses Middle School in the North Babylon School District recently did research and created posters to learn about different endangered species. To further spread awareness about these animals, students sold stuffed animals to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund during lunch periods. These stuffed animals could be purchased for a friend or themselves and were delivered the last week of December. The students raised $150 for the organization. These loans cover many damages not covered by insurance. Disaster Loans can be used to assist with relocation or mitigation improvements to reduce the likelihood of future damages. The disaster declaration covers Kings and Nassau counties in New York, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) from the SBA. Small businesses and nonprofits in the adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for EIDLs: New York, Queens, Richmond and Suffolk. Survivor Benefits of the SBA Disaster Recovery Program: ❑ No payments and zero percent interest for 12 months from the date of the first disbursement ❑ Receive monies upfront before insurance is settled

Newspaper Club Debuts ‘Paw Print’ At Robert Moses MS

The newspaper club at Robert Moses Middle School in the North Babylon School District has restarted and is publishing the “Paw Print” newspaper, under the advisement of teacher Mrs. Marchionna, The club has been inactive for a number of years. The online newspaper
features interviews with staff and relevant content to appeal to the middle school students. The club is open to all students, who brainstorm the content for each of the editions. According to Mrs. Marchionna, students choose what interviews they would like to conduct and take the lead in the
writing process. After the writing process, the students edit and submit the content for publication. The club meets weekly and there are currently 16 members. The goal is to produce three editions of the four-page newspaper – which is available both in print and online – per year.

DELUCA’S MATH MARVELS MAKING STRIDES - The Math Marvels at DeLuca Elementary School in the North Babylon School District are hard at work on their mathematics skills this month. The fourth and fifth graders in the club are chosen based on their scores on the fall assessments. There are currently 12 students in the group, who meet every Tuesday after school. Under the advisement of teacher Kelly Gregorio, the Math Marvels students work on higher level math skills, mainly in a team-based learning environment. North Bellmore Accepting Applications For 2024-25 Pre-K Lottery The North Bellmore School District is accepting applications for its Universal PreKindergarten program for the 2024-2025 school year. While the district recently received expanded grant funds and anticipates having a spot for all applicants, a lottery will still be held to assign placements. The program is contingent upon state funding. Children who will be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2024, and will be eligible to enter kindergarten in September
2025, may participate in the lottery. The program is administered by the North Bellmore School District and is provided by community-based preschools. It is funded by the New York State Education Department through a UPK grant so there is no cost to families. The district anticipates hosting both half-day and full-day programs. The half-day program is offered two and a half hours per day, five days a week, and the full-day program is offered five hours per day, five days
