Equity First Foundation (EFF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization located here on Long Island. Rhonda Klch started this foundation with the mission to offer services, resources and programs to consumers and small businesses that are facing financial distress. Although the details of financial markets may not be necessary for everyone, a good understanding of everyday finances is needed to ensure your home, bank account and additional assets are protected as you go about your life. This nonprofit is guided by a board of experts from the Long Island business community. They strive to educate the community so people can make financial decisions with knowledge and confidence. EFF provides financial education, literacy and best practices at low or no cost to individuals and groups from primary school through retirement and including life events. Rhonda Klch, Executive Director of the Equity First Foundation has taken all necessary steps to get out of her comfort zone and attack COVID with her resources. As a women entrepreneur, she used her relationships, social media and community to power through this current pandemic. In March of 2020, when the pandemic really started to hit hard, Rhonda, along with the assistance of her board members, united to find solutions for the community despite what was going on. Rhonda believed that even though EFF programs may be on hold, that did not mean the people of the community did not still need answers and help. She has worked endless hours for the sake of the families that need assistance and need a voice. Since the pandemic Rhonda has either spearheaded or collaborated in many projects to help our community out. Here is an example of just a few: The Grab & Go 3,000 Event in Patchogue: Rhonda collaborated with business owner of local restaurant to provide over 3,000 hot meals to families in need. Grab & Go Breakfast in Rocky Point: EFF collaborated with local bagel store owner, Edward Henry of Strathmore bagels and a few

sponsors, to give-away over 300 breakfasts to families in need. 6 Week Marathon: March 29th was the beginning of a 6 week marathon of assisting front line workers with food. EFF and Rhonda did a Go Fund Me with local bagel store owner, Edward Henry to supply St. Charles, Mather and Stony Brook Hospital food every night. PPE Equipment Fundraiser: EFF collaborated with several Allstate Insurance offices to raise funds for PPE equipment. Over 2,000 masks were delivered to various hospitals, senior centers, nursing homes and fire districts. Although EFF has switched their programs from in person to virtual, they have been well received. They continue to offer free financial counseling and outreach resources for numerous families on Long Island. Miriam H. says, “Rhonda is a true professional that looks out for the best interest of her clients. She works hard at finding the best solutions and making her clients shine. Whenever referring a personal friend or client to Rhonda, I am confident in her ability to take proper care of them.” If you’re searching for somone to look out for you while guiding you through important financial decisions, Rhonda and EFF is the right choice. CVS Drive Thru Testing

Building on the company’s comprehensive efforts to help slow the spread of the virus, CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) opened 36 new COVID-19 test sites at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thru locations across New York. Additional test sites across the state and country will be announced by the end of the month. These new sites will utilize self-swab tests and mark the next phase of the company’s nationwide COVID-19 testing strategy. The test sites in New York are part of nearly 350 locations across 14 states including Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. “While the large-scale test sites we’ve been operating since early April have proven successful, this new approach allows
us to utilize our presence in communities across the country and bring testing closer to home,” said Larry J. Merlo, President and CEO, CVS Health. “Our frontline employees will continue to play a critical role in the testing process, with members of their communities directly benefitting from their dedication and selflessness.” Self-swab tests will be available to individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria, in addition to age guidelines. Patients must register in advance at CVS.com to schedule an appointment. Patients will be required to stay in their cars and directed to the pharmacy drive-thru window where they will be provided with a test kit and given instructions, and a CVS Pharmacy team member will observe the self swab process to ensure it is done
properly. Tests will be sent to an independent, thirdparty lab for processing and the results will be available in approximately three days. Testing will not take place inside any retail locations, and CVS Pharmacy, HealthHUB and MinuteClinic will continue to serve customers and patients. Adolescence can be a trying time for teenagers and their parents. According to the American Psychological Association, parents and caregivers face an entirely new set of tasks to deal with the changing needs of children as they reach adolescence. The changes that accompany adolescence include physical, cognitive and social changes, and parents may need to adopt an entirely new approach to parenting as they deal with the changing needs of their children during their period in their lives. The APA notes that adolescents often crave greater independence and autonomy, and this desire is a natural part of their development process. It’s important that parents of adolescents find a way to maintain the familial bonds they and their children have developed up to this point, while also allowing increasingly mature teens a level of autonomy that can benefit them throughout their lives. According to clinical psychologist William Stixrud, Ph.D., decades of psychological research has shown that a lack of perceived control leads people to feel overwhelmed, helpless, hopeless, passive, and resigned. So adolescents who feel that they have control over the direction of their lives, feelings which can be strengthened when they are given some level of autonomy as teenagers, are less likely to feel overwhelmed, helpless, hopeless, passive, or resigned as adults.

Economic Opportunity Council Of Suffolk, Inc. Receives Federal Funding To Help Low Income Suffolk Residents The Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc. (EOC of Suffolk) has received $1.7 million in federal funds to provide financial assistance to individuals and families facing economic hardships arising from COVID-19related disruptions. The funds are being made available to eligible Suffolk County residents
who have either lost their jobs, became temporarily unemployed, or faced financial difficulties because of the pandemic. The funds originate from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act – commonly known as the CARES Act – which is providing $41 billion in funding to supplement the nationwide
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program. Signed into law on March 27, the relief program aims to address the consequences of increased unemployment and economic disruption resulting from the COVID-19 virus. “The Coronavirus pandemic has triggered the most damaging economic crisis America has faced
in some 80 years,” said Adrian Fassett, CEO of EOC of Suffolk. “During this difficult period, these federal funds will help our organization fulfill our mission of promoting the economic self-sufficiency of Suffolk County residents.” An applicant’s eligible expenses can include food, funeral costs, rental expenses, broker fees,
utility expenses, medical expenses, retraining expenses, clothing, bedding, toiletries, and other expenses. Household income cannot exceed 200 percent of poverty guidelines. The determination of financial eligibility for CARES assistance does not factor in an applicant’s supplemental

Hicksville Middle School Celebrates Its Graduates
Congratulations to Hicksville High Middle School students who are moving up to the high school. The school recently conducted an outdoor ceremony to allow students to receive their middle school diplomas from Principal Mara Jorisch with their families on hand. The ceremony was held in a safe manner that allowed students to walk by teachers, administrators and support staff members who applauded, cheered them and offered words of encouragement and good luck. After they received
their middle school diplomas, the graduating eighth graders could have their photo taken by the school sign as a memento. “The modified commencement was a wonderful way to recognize our amazing Hicksville Middle School Class of 2020 and to show them that they will always have a special place in our hearts,” Jorisch said. The on-site experience was complemented by a virtual ceremony that included prerecorded messages to the graduates from Superintendent of Schools Marianne Litzman,
Principal Jorisch, Board of Education member Linda Imbriale, PTSA President Linda Smith, Student Council President Jack Beaudette and National Junior Honor Society President Patrick LaBarca. Assistant Principal Todd Wallace announced the eighth grade award winners. Each graduate also received a special Hicksville Middle School string bag and a commemorative copy of the ceremony program to cherish their three years of hard work at the middle school.
