Annual membership fees, daily green fees, gas carts and tee time reservation fees will all be the same as last year. “With the cold weather months still upon us, playing a round of golf seems a long way off,” Councilman Macagnone said. “In reality, the season is right around the corner.” Fees are posted on the Town’s website, www.oysterbaytown.com. In addition to the costsaving benefits of seasonal membership, those who join will continue to have the option of purchasing Advanced Tee-Times. “People work hard and have busy schedules,” Councilman Macagnone said. “The Town takes pride in having affordable programs that make it easy to enjoy a day of recreation.” Town of

Oyster Bay Golf Course membership applications will be processed in the golf operations building beginning Wednesday, February 26th, 2014, and each Wednesday through Sunday thereafter from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. When purchasing a membership for the new season, each applicant must present two proofs of residency. Both must be original documents and contain the name and address of the applicant. At least one of the two documents MUST contain a photo of the applicant, such as a New York State driver’s license. The second Proof-of-residency may be an automobile registration, utility bill or Town of Oyster Bay property tax bill. On the grounds of the golf course, a turn-ofthe-century mansion clubhouse offers The Woodlands Catering Facility and Golf Bar (516.921.5707). Golfers

can also take a break at the “Halfway House”, located on the 8th tee, where they will have access to amenities such as restroom facilities and a snack bar. In addition, golfers have access to a fully equipped pro shop and a full range of golf services, instruction, clinics and camps offered by Gold Coast Golf Center, Doug Miller, Head Golf Professional (516.682.4PRO). Random Thoughts By: Jamie Lynn Ryan As if navigating the roads this winter wasn’t hazardous enough with the snow and ice and freezing rain, we now have a new obstacle to contend with – the vast wasteland of potholes cropping up on every corner and parkway ramp. Try attempting to slow down as your headlights catch a glimpse of the crater before you, just waiting to devour a tire or two. One more time – is it spring yet? At least spring training has finally arrived, and with it the not entirely unexpected announcement

from Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter that this season will be his final year playing baseball. A class act until the end, Jeter took to his Facebook page to write a heartfelt message of thanks and appreciation to his fans, his teammates, his family and friends. He will leave the Yankees at the top of his game, a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer with a legacy the likes of which will not be seen again. Speaking of, remember all those long lost friends you thought you would never see again? Well, thanks to social networking, virtual reunions have become fairly

The competition was dedicated to the late Dorothy C. Camilleri, a Bellmore resident who battled Alzheimer’s Disease for several years. Her husband, Louis, who is 89 years old, got out of his wheelchair and did one sit-up in honor of his late wife. All of the participants will continue to raise funds until June 30th in the hopes of reaching the target goal of $25,000.
