Registration is $20 and those who will attend have the opportunity to partake in a raffle with great prizes! Scavenger Hunt Bingo: Play 5 rounds of Bingo from home! The Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) was founded in 1993 by three friends who lived in Babylon. Determined to fight against breast cancer by raising awareness and educating women, the BBCC with their dedicated volunteers undertook the task of completing a demographic survey to ascertain the incidence of breast cancer in Babylon. From this, a volunteer driven grass-roots organization grew, which serves the entire Township of Babylon, including those with all gynecological cancers in addition to those with breast cancer. Today they provide direct patient services and support to help ease the burdens that breast and all gynecological cancers put on patients and their families/caregivers. In addition to assisting in the basic needs of those battling cancer, they also reach out to the community at large, providing educational programs to encourage healthier lifestyles, which would decrease the still very high instance of these cancers in our community. Please note, if you do not live in this township, you can still reach out to the BBCC to find out who in your area can be of help to you. The BBCC’s premier program is titled Lend a Helping Hand (LAHH). Since its inception in 1996, this unique patient service program provides much needed stress relief for breast cancer patients currently in treatment, as well as their families confronting diagnosis and ensuing treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation. Later on, the BBCC expanded the LAHH program to include Babylon Township women undergoing treatment for all types of gynecological cancers. Some of the services this program offers include house cleaning, transportation to/from medical appointments, financial

Isaac Hardoon, DO Joins New York Cancer & Blood Specialists as Lead Physician of Palliative Care Program

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS), one of the Nation’s leading oncology practices announced the addition of dual boarded Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician, Isaac Hardoon, DO. Dr. Hardoon will lead the division as Chief of Supportive and Palliative care. “ Palliative Care gives me the opportunity to know my patients as people first rather than as a diagnosis,” Dr. Hardoon said. “I have always cared for patients as if they were part of my family and that is the philosophy at NYCBS.” Palliative care is a medical discipline aimed at improving the quality of life for patients with a serious, life-limiting, and advanced illness. NYCBS’ expansion in the integration of palliative care seeks to enhance the quality of the care patients receive by focusing on what their goals of care and treatment are. Dr. Hardoon is a graduate of Stony Brook University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts with a Minor in

He obtained his Doctor of Osteopathy from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship and residency in the Department of Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Hardoon completed his fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, and for the past 3.5 years was a Palliative Care Attending Physician and serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein School of Medicine. “I am excited to be part of a team that aims to ensure the emotional, physical, and spiritual

wellbeing of patients every step of the way, during treatment and thereafter. Town Accepting New Applications for 9/11 Walls of Honor Memorial Honors Victims of 9/11 Illness

Supervisor Joseph Saladino recently announced that applications are now available for families to add the names of loved ones to the Town of Oyster Bay’s 9/11 Walls of Honor which recognize all those with a connection to the Town who gave their lives and succumbed in their battle against 9/11 related cancers and illness. Each September, the Town unveils newly inscribed

names into the Walls of Honor which recognize the family members, friends and neighbors lost to this toxic legacy. Supervisor Saladino stated, “We remember and give thanks to those who ran into danger in order to help the victims of a cowardly act of terror. This includes first responders, downtown workers, residents, students and so many others with

cancer certified to be 9/11-related. The events of 9/11 continue to take our heroes and survivors – and members of our community will continue to face darker days ahead. We watch each week as more of these heroes pass, in an ever-increasing and unending number. Just as many of these rescue and recovery heroes raced to the Towers the first minute the plane hit, and stayed until the

last brick was turned, their memorial stands with and lead us to those we lost that tragic Tuesday morning.” Reports from the World Trade Center Health program indicate that we are approaching a terrible milestone, in which approximately 43,000 people are being treated for medical problems and 10,000 people have suffered cancers linked to the toxic exposure at

Ground Zero. More than 2,500 responders and others affected have succumbed to their illness. Is It Safe To Donate Blood During The Pandemic? Donating blood is a selﬂess act that saves lives. Blood donors may recognize the vital role they play in patient care, but many may wonder if it’s safe to donate blood during the

pandemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is safe for anyone who is well to donate blood. That even goes for people who are social distancing due

to COVID-19. The CDC has recommended various safety measures to ensure the safety of donors and donation center volunteers and staff members. Such measures include spacing

donor chairs at least six feet apart and encouraging donors to make donation appointments ahead of time. Appointments can ensure donors are not spending more time at the donation

center than is absolutely necessary, reducing the likelihood that they have contact with someone who may have COVID-19 but not know it. The Red Cross notes it has instituted additional

safety protocols, such as laundering blankets used by donors after each use and requiring all donors and staff to wear face coverings or masks during the donation process.
